Where to Seek CareThe following steps are recommended to patients toaccess care when they are unable to see theirhealthcare provider:1. Contact your primary care provider to discussnext steps in your care.2. If you do not have a primary care provider: Find one by calling the number on the back ofyour health insurance card. Consider visiting a Federally Qualified HealthCenter in your area for healthcare services orfor help getting health insurance. FederallyQualified Health Centers provide services toeveryone regardless of ability to pay. Look upyour County to find local FQHCs.Avoid WithdrawalPatients who have been treated with opioids orbenzodiazepines and lose access to care may be atrisk of medication withdrawal.Signs of withdrawal could be anxiety, nausea,diarrhea, hot flashes, shiver, abdominal cramping,tremor, or dizziness.Contact your local Drug and Alcohol Departmentwhich is a resource that connects patients totreatment services, including options for detoxing.3

Avoid Opioid OverdoseNaloxone is a medicine that can reverse an opioidoverdose and is available through a state-widestanding order, which means people do not need aprescription. Most pharmacies carry Naloxone.Signs of an overdose may include:small, “pin-point” pupils, falling asleep/loss ofconsciousness, slow/shallow breathing, chokingsounds, limp body, or pale, blue, or cold skin.If you suspect someone is experiencing anoverdose:1. Call 911.2. Administer Naloxone, if available.3. Try to keep the person awake and breathing.4. Lay the person on their side to prevent choking.5.
