INTRODUCTIONThis manual contains detailed instructions on the operation and maintenance of this machine. To get maximum versatilityfrom this machine, all operators should carefully read and follow the instructions in this manual. The machine contains a 5-milliwat, 760to 800 nanometer wavelength, GaAlAs laser diode. Direct (or indirect reflected) eye contact with the laser beam maycause serious eye damage. Safety precautions and interlock mechanisms have been designed to prevent any possiblelaser beam exposure to the operator.The following label is attached on the machine.This label can be found when opening the By-pass Tray.Class 1 LASER PRODUCTIN ACCORDANCE WITH IEC 825LASER KLASSE 1 nach IEC 825Laser Safety:The Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) prohibits the repair of laser-based optional units in the field. Theoptical housing unit can only be repaired in a factory or at a location with the requisite equipment. The laser subsystemis replaceable in the field by a qualified Customer Engineer. The laser chassis is not repairable in the field. Customerengineers are therefore directed to return all chassis and laser subsystems to the factory or service depot whenreplacement of the optical subsystem is required.Warning:Use of controls or adjustment or performance of procedures other than those specified in this manual may result inhazardous radiation exposure.

Do not damage , break or make any modifications to the powercord. Do not place heavy objects on it, pull it hard or bend itmore than necessary. These actions could cause an electricshock or fire. Do not plug or unplug the power cord with your hands wet.Otherwise, an electric shock might occur.o Make sure the wall outlet is near the machine and freelyaccessible so that in event of an emergency it can be unpluggedeasily.qrmii Do not remove any covers or screws other than those specifiedin this manual. Some parts of the machine are at a high voltageand could give you an electric shock. When the machine needsto be checked, adjusted, or repaired, contact your servicerepresentative. Do not use aluminum foil,carboncontaining paper or other conductive paper. Otherwise, afire might occur.nRiv When removing misfed paper, do not touch the fusing sectionbecause it could be very hot.
