UMAREX 4 PX 4 -4 lingue -giugno 2009 3/27/13 2:03 PM Page 4BASIC SAFETY RULESWARNING: PLEASE READHANDLING YOUR FIREARM.THISMANUALBEFOREWARNING: FIREARMS CAN BE DANGEROUS AND CANPOTENTIALLY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY, DAMAGE TOPROPERTY OR DEATH, IF HANDLED IMPROPERLY. THEFOLLOWING SAFETY RULES ARE AN LITY.1. NEVER POINT A FIREARM AT SOMETHING THAT IS NOTSAFE TO SHOOT.Never let the muzzle of a firearm point at any part of yourbody or at another person. This is especially important whenloading or unloading the firearm. When you are shooting at atarget, know what is behind it. Some bullets can travel overa mile. If you miss your target or if the bullet penetrates thetarget, it is your responsibility to ensure that the shot doesnot cause unintended injury or damage.42. ALWAYS TREAT A FIREARMAS IF IT WERE LOADED.Never assume that a firearm isunloaded. The only certain wayto ensure that a firearm hasthe chamber(s) empty is toopen the chamber and visuallyand physically examine the

UMAREX 4 PX 4 -4 lingue -giugno 2009 3/27/13 2:03 PM Page 5inside to see if a round is present.Removing or unloading the magazine will not guaranteethat a firearm is unloaded or cannot fire. Shotguns andrifles can be checked by cycling or removing all rounds andby then opening and inspecting the chamber so that a visualinspection of the chamber for any remaining rounds can bemade.3. STORE YOUR FIREARM SO THAT CHILDREN CANNOTGAIN ACCESS TO IT.It is your responsibility to ensure that children under the ageof 18 or other unauthorized persons do not gain access toyour firearm. To reduce the risk of accidents involvingchildren, unload your firearm, lock it and store theammunition in a separate locked location. Please notethat devices intended to prevent accidents - for example, cable locks, chamber plugs, etc, - may not prevent use ormisuse of your firearm by a determined person. Firearmstorage in a steel gun safe may be more appropriate toreduce the likelihood of intentional misuse of a firearm by anunauthorized child or person.5

UMAREX 4 PX 4 -4 lingue -giugno 2009 3/27/13 2:03 PM Page 64. NEVER SHOOT AT WATER OR ATA HARD SURFACE.Shooting at the surface of water or ata rock or other hard surfaceincreases the chance of ricochets orfragmentation of the bullet or shot, which can result in the projectilestriking an unintended or peripheraltarget.5. KNOW THE SAFETY FEATURES OF THE FIREARM YOUARE USING, BUT REMEMBER: SAFETY DEVICES ARENOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR SAFE HANDLINGPROCEDURES.Never rely solely on a safety device to prevent an accident. It is imperative that you know and use the safety features ofthe particular firearm you are handling, but accidents canbest be prevented by following the safe handlingprocedures described in these safety rules and elsewhere inthe product manual. To further familiarize yourself with theproper use of this or other firearms, take a Firearms SafetyCourse taught by an expert in firearms use and safetyprocedures.6. PROPERLY MAINTAIN YOUR FIREARM.Store and carry your firearm so that dirt or lint does notaccumulate in the working parts. Clean and oil your firearm, following the instructions providedin this manual, after each use toprevent corrosion, damage to thebarrel or accumulation of impuritieswhich can prevent use of the gun inan emergency. Always check thebore and chamber(s) prior toloading to ensure that they areclean and free from obstructions.6Firing with an obstruction in the barrel or chamber canrupture the barrel and injure you or others nearby.

UMAREX 4 PX 4 -4 lingue -giugno 2009 3/27/13 2:03 PM Page 7In the event you hear an unusual noise when shooting, stopfiring immediately, engage the manual safety and unload thefirearm. Make sure the chamber and barrel are free from anyobstruction, like a bullet blocked inside the barrel due todefective or improper ammunition.7. USE PROPER AMMUNITION.Only use factory-loaded, new ammunition manufactured toindustry specifications: CIP (Europe and elsewhere),SAAMI (U.S.A.). Be certain that each round you use is in theproper caliber or gauge and type for the particular firearm. The caliber or gauge of the firearm is clearly marked on thebarrels of shotguns and on the slide or barrel of pistols. Theuse of reloaded or remanufactured ammunition can increasethe likelihood of excessive cartridge pressures, case-headruptures or other defects in the ammunition that can causedamage to your firearm and injury to yourself or othersnearby. There is a broad array of .22LR amunition made by manymanufacturers in different brands and types. To ensurereliable operation, a semi-automatic firearm must bematched to a certain cartridge load. The Beretta ARX 160.22LR has been designed for high quality standard andHV(High Velocity) amunition. Beretta suggests that you tryseveral boxes of a recommended brand/type of amunition inyour ARX 160 .22LR before you put it into regular use todetermine reliability of ignition and performance of youramunition. If issues occur, try different recommendedbrands until a reliable load is found. Based on our testingand evaluation, Beretta recommends the followingammunition for optimal performance:- Federal American Eagle- CCI Standard- CCI Stinger- CCI MiniMag- RWS R100- RWS R50Other .22LR ammunition may also work well butshould be evaluated for function and performance.7

UMAREX 4 PX 4 -4 lingue -giugno 2009 3/27/13 2:03 PM Page 8Notice: You should clean the barrel bore every 200-300rounds with an appropriate firearm cleaning lead solvent toprevent lead build up which can lead to innacuracy and poorfunctioning.8. ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE GLASSES ANDEARPLUGS WHEN SHOOTING.The chance that gas, gunpowder or metal fragments willblow back and injure a shooter who is firing a gun is rare, butthe injury that can be sustained insuch circumstances can be severe, including the possible loss ofeyesight. A shooter must alwayswear impact resistant shootingglasses when firing any firearm.Earplugs or other high-qualityhearing protectors help reduce thechance of hearing damage fromshooting.9. NEVER CLIMB A TREE, FENCE OR OBSTRUCTION WITHA LOADED FIREARM.Open and empty the chamber(s) of your firearm and engagethe manual safety before climbing or descending a tree orbefore climbing a fence or jumping over a ditch or otherobstruction. Never pull or push a loaded firearm towardyourself or another person. Always unload a firearm, visuallyand physically check to see thatthe magazine, loading mechanismand chamber are unloaded, andaction is open before handing it toanother person. Never take afirearm from another personunless it is unloaded, visually andphysically checked to confirm it isunloaded, and the action is open.8

UMAREX 4 PX 4 -4 lingue -giugno 2009 3/27/13 2:03 PM Page 910. AVOID ALCOHOLICBEVERAGES OR JUDGMENT/REFLEX IMPAIRINGMEDICATION WHEN SHOOTING.Do not drink and shoot. If you takemedication that can impair motorreactions or judgment, do nothandle a firearm while you areunder the influence of themedication.11. NEVER TRANSPORT A LOADED FIREARM.Unload a firearm before putting it in a vehicle (chamberempty, magazine empty). Hunters and target shootersshould load their firearm only at their destination, and onlywhen they are ready to shoot. If you carry a firearm for selfprotection, leaving the chamber unloaded can reduce thechance of an unintentional discharge.12. LEAD WARNING.Discharging firearms in poorly ventilated areas, cleaningfirearms, or handling ammunition may result in exposure tolead and other substances known to cause birth defects, reproductive harm, and other serious physical injury. Haveadequate ventilation at all times.
