Ackerman, PhD, professor of Sociology at theUniversity of South Carolina, Beaufort, and co-founder of the National Association for Children ofAlcoholics and the editor of Counselor: The Magazine for Addiction Professionals. Dr. Ackerman hasbecome internationally known for his work with families and children of all ages. His three-anda-half hour morning keynote will focus on chemical dependency and the family using a strengthbased model for treatment and recovery followed by concurrent sessions on appreciating genderdifferences in treatment of adolescents and young adults and the seven habits of a highlysuccessful prevention programs.Jamie Marich, Ph.D., LPCC-S, LICDC-CS, will present the second day morning plenary on It’sthe Relationship that Heals: A New Perspective on Evidence Based Practice, followed by concurrentsessions on dancing mindfulness and guided imagery.
