This has been taught in seminaries foryears, but was not the understanding of the early church, nor even the position of manymodern Rabbis. Ultimately, this position simply does not “hold water” under even casual studymostly due to the scriptural references above as seen in the old Testament. ComparingScripture to Scripture. (This passage also bears extreme relevance on a completeunderstanding of the scripture quoted from Matthew 24:37.) Historically, “The Book ofAntiquities” by noted Jewish historian Josephus also states that angels intermarried withhuman daughters, producing the “Titans” of Greco-Roman culture or the Greek legends. Theword which is translated, “giants”, in the King James version of the Bible is, in Hebrew,“Nephilim”, which means, “Those who fell, or . the fallen ones”. Jude, the brother of Jesusdescribes them as “angels, having left their first estate in heaven”. These fallen angels cameto earth for their own purposes, to interfere in the development of human civilization.Some dismiss these scriptures, believing Jesus taught in Matt 22:29-30 that angels cannothave sex:“Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power ofGod. For in the resurrection, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as theangels of God in heaven.”Looking carefully and without a preconceived notion, we see that Jesus said that the angels“in heaven” DO NOT marry (nor presumably - have sex, reproduce). He did not state thatangels “in general” CAN NOT do so, though. An unmarried Christian who - like the angelsof God in heaven - wishes to remain obedient to God’s will, “does not” have sex, but notbecause he or she is physically incapable of doing so.Now getting back to Gen 6:4: There were giants in the earth in those days; and also afterthat , when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare [children] tothem, the same [became] mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown.Scripture uses other names to describe the descendents of the fallen angels in addition to theword Nephilim, they are.Rephaim - meaning “Giants”. Gen. 14:5: “And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, andthe kings that [were] with him, and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim ((Sidebar:Meaning Horned Star)(I Kings 11:5) For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of theZidonians.” Ashtoreth “star” :1) the principal female deity of the Phoenicians worshipped inwar and fertility also ‘Ishtar’ of Assyria and ‘Astarte’ by the Greeks and Romans. The wordEaster is also a form of Ishtar, the ancient Babylonian goddess of fertility. From this, theGreeks derived Astarte. Ishtar became Easter in Anglo-Saxon prior to their arrival in Britain.

These are fair and accurate “at-a-glance” interpretations, but the implications of the restof this study indicate that there is more yet to be learned about the days of Noah. Have youever “seen something you never saw before” in a passage you’d read many times? None of ushave “arrived” at a complete understanding of the Bible - God always reveals deepermysteries to those who will study and proclaim His word! However, the most obvious “childlike”interpretation of this verse would be: “that when Christ returns, the world will look like it did justbefore the flood.” To know what society was like just before the flood - and what the world willlook like when Christ returns - the obvious thing to do is to read Genesis 6.2 Peter 2: 4-6“For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell (from theword Tartaros (the deepest abyss of Hell, only used once in the whole Bible),and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; 5) Andspared not the old world, but saved Noah the eight person, a preacher ofrighteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly, 6) And turning thecities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow,making them an example unto those that after should live ungodly.”Jude 6-7“6) And the angels which kept not their * first estate, but left their ownhabitation, he hath reserved * in everlasting chains under darkness unto thejudgment of the great day. 7) Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities aboutthem in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going afterstrange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.”* original place with God* in prison, in this case Tartaros)From these two passages, it is clear that Peter and Jude both affirm that the “sons of God” inGenesis 6 were angels, who committed fornication.
