Valves that have not beencycled for a period of timemay have a higher initialactuation torque.A packing adjustment maybe required periodically toincrease service life and toprevent leakage.40G series and 40 series valve. 40G and 40 series valves are factory testedwith nitrogen at 1000 psig (69 bar), or therated pressure if lower than 1000 psig(69 bar). 40 series valve packing must be readjustedfor service at higher than test pressure. See page 12 for standard productiontests and page 23 for optional productiontests. Instrumentation ball valves exposed todynamic temperature conditions beforeinstallation may lose their initial packingload. Packing adjustment may be needed.8 mm deep-well socket and 43G seriesvalves require a 9 mm deep-well socket toadjust the packing bolt. 41 and 42 series valves require a 3/8 in.open-ended wrench; 44 series valvesrequire a 1/2 in. open-ended wrench; and45 series valves require a 5/8 in. openended wrench to adjust the packing bolt. 43 series valves require an adapterto adjust the packing bolt.
