LADDER DUTY RATINGSAmerican National Standards Institute (ANS I) has developed a series of duty ratings that can be used as a guideline todetenn ine the tota l weight capacity of the ladder - including one self and the tools & materials one may carry with onthe ladder. Construction requirements include weight and size categories for portable ladders. The fo ur ladder typesand their duty ratings are shown in the Table below.TableLa dder TypeCapable of SupportingRated UseTvpe IAA375 1bs.Special - duty industrial ladderTypelA300 Ibs.Extra Heavy - duty industrial ladder2501bs.Heavy duty - industrial ladder225 Ibs.Medium - dUly commercial ladder200 Ibs.Light - duty household ladderTypenTvpe IIIKnow the weight capacity of the ladder before climbing. The weight capacity is listed on the label attached to the siderail of each ladder. Do not exceed the weight capacity. Pay close attention 10 the Duty Rating of the ladder andthe combined weight of the user and materials. Select a ladder with the proper ca pacity. Also, be sure 10 select aladder of proper heigh 1 to reach the work area without overextending.Generally accepted usage/duty relationships are: Special duty : for users requiring a 375-pound load capacity or for service requirements such as industry, utilities, contractors, etc. Extra heavy duty: for users requiring a 300-pound load capacity or for service requirements such as industry, utilities, contractors, etc. Heavy duty: for users requiring a 250-pound load capacity or for service requirements such as industry, utilities, contractors, etc. Medium duty: for users requiring a 225-pound load capacity or for service requirements such as painters, offices, light maintenance use, etc. Light duty : for users requiring no more than a 200-pound load capacity or for a service requirement such as generalhousehold use.recommends only extra heavy duty ladders for use with ladder jacks a nd scaffold planks.

r:n:nI OSHA does not address ladders made of fibreglass on ly. OS HA sets minimum requirements for the use of all laddersin business and industry. Working on and around stairways and ladders is hazardous. Stairways and ladders are majorsources o f injuries and fata lities among construction workers for example. and many of the injuries are serious enoughto req uire time off the job. OSHA rules apply to all stairways and ladders used in construction, alteration. repair, painting, decorating and demolition of work sites covered by OSHA 's construction safety and health standards.CONSTRUCTIONpo 1Y'!!5tel no In ---;;;--"" --.vei lProducing a higher perfonnance fibreglass ladder takes dedicated people, superior process and leading edge maleriaiand equipment technologies.ARC FRP ladders are produced using a premium grade polyester resin system with fl ame retardant and ultraviolet (UV)inhibitor additives. (These materials, plus advanced manufacturing methods and rigidinspection procedures, assure optimum structural, mechanical and electrical properties plus excellent resistance tocorrosion. weathering and ultraviolet degradation.)A vinyl ester resin system is available upon request for additionalcorrosion resistance. Standard side channels are grey in colour. The colour of the ladders is produced by pigmentingthe resin during the Pultrusion process. The side cbannels (pultruded sections) are either 100 mm x 30 mm with 4mOl thickness OR 150 mOl x 40 mOl with 6 mOl thickness. The rungs & steps are alumin ium alloy wi th a non-skidsurface. The fasteners & brackets are Stain less Steel. The shoes / treads are made of rubber. ARC has been producingfixed, step, extension and mobile platfonn or the combination type ladders using rails made from pultrudedglass/polyester structural sections.SAFETY TI.PSARC manufactures quality products for long and safe use, but proper care must always be taken to ensure you r safety.Even the best ladders can be involved in accidents through neglect or improper practices.

SeledionGUlDELadderHeiarr! Take into account all potential uses for the product you are going to purchase - make sure you have the necessarystrength and height for each job. Read the labels - Infonnation is provided in detail for yo ur safety and protection.o When making your decision on which duty rating you require, ensure you allow for the combined weight of the user, clothing, tools and any other materials. Never exceed the ma ximum load rating. Select ladder of proper length to safely reach desired height.War ning:Metal ladders conduct electricity - Do not use where contact may be made with live electrical circuits. Failure tofollow proper instructions could result in serious personal injury or death.Inspectiono Always inspect your ladder before each use.o Inspect for loose fasteners, broken, bent or cracked rails, rungs and steps.o Ensure moving parts are in good working order.o Clean ladder of all fore ign material. (oil, grease, ice, etc.)o Never use a damaged or worn ladder. Never use a ladder which has been exposed to excessive heat or chemical corrosion.Berore you climb .Do not use any ladder if you are in poor health, taking drugs, using alcohol, or physically handicapped.Check your footwear - Do not use leather or any smooth surfaced sole.o Do not use in high winds or stonn conditions.o Do not set up over doorways.oo

Also, be sure to se l t aladder of proper height to reach the work area without overextending.NEVER EXCEED THE SPECIFIED DUTY RATING or THE LADDER.

ARC's FRP ladders are; Strong, lightweight, Long-lasting: Fibreglass now holds a significant market share of industrial ladders andis steadily replacing aluminum and wood in residential ladders. For the roughest, toughest jobs where a laddertakes a beating, fibreglass provides the ultimate in ruggedness and long-tenn durabil ity. Stronger Than Other Materials: Fibreglass ladders are stronger than wood or aluminum ladders and will notrot or corrode. Non Conductive: Unlike aluminum, fibreglass ladders have low non conductive properties. High Str en gth : Fabricated from Pultruded secti ons having High Strength to Weight Ratio. Resistant : Corrosion & Ultraviolet resistant. Thermally I.nsulated & Non Slip: Com fortable to handle and safe to usc.ARC 's total capabilities in building the best ladders in the business are demonstrated every time our customers take astep otT the ground. ARCs advanced design and carefully controlled manufacturing and inspection procedures assuresafe, dependable perfonnance and years of maintenance-free service when properly used.TYPES O F LADDE RSThere are Fixed Ladders, Extension Ladders, Step Ladders, Mobile Platfonn Ladders or combination Type Ladders. These ladders are made of Fibreglass.
