SECTION 1SET-UP & OPERATIONUnpacking Instructions1. Place Brewer box on a large steady surface(such as a table or countertop) or on thefloor. Open the box.2. Remove the Quick Start Guide, Use & CareGuide and other literature.3. Reach into the box and grasp the polyfoamthat encases the Brewer.4. Carefully pull the polyfoam toward you andout of the box. The Brewer will still beencased in the poly foam.5. Remove the poly foam packaging material.6. Place the brewer upright on a flat, steadysurface.7. Remove the K-Cup storage bin from thebrewer and record on page 3 of this bookthe Serial Number located on the UL labelbehind it. The Serial Number is alsolocated on the Brewer box.8. We recommend you save all packingmaterials in case future shipping of theproduct is necessary.WARNING: Keep all plastic bags awayfrom children.4

Plumbing Fitting ConnectionsCAUTION: This brewer is designed to handlelocal water pressures from 40 psig up to 125psig. Consult a licensed plumber for waterpressures in your area. Use plumbing fittingsand tubing specified to withstand 125 psig.6. The filter needs an initial flush to clear anycarbon deposits. Bring the long lengthtubing to a container or sink.7. Turn on water supply and allow at least 4gallons of water to flush through the filter.8. Turn off water supply.WARNING: Keurig requires the use of anexternal water filter such as the OmnipureKQ8A, available from Keurig Incorporated.PN 5025. Failure to use a filter invalidates thebrewer warranty.9. Cut the tubing to proper length and connect to inlet plumbing port on the brewer.10. Turn on water supply.1. An external filter (KQ8A) can be mountedon the rear surface of the brewer using themounting screws provided. See page 6.2. Loosen the two mounting screws locatedon the upper-rear of the brewer and hangthe KQ8A filter kit assembly.3. Tighten the two mounting screws (becareful not to over tighten).NOTE: The KQ8A Filter assembly comeswith 1/4 FPT ports for both inlet and outletand the plumbed water inlet to the breweris 3/4 Male Garden Hose Thread (Invensyssolenoid valve). 1/4 OD LLDPE (Linear LowDensity Polyethylene) tubing is recommended (NSF compliant) between the filterassembly and the brewer. NSF compliantfittings are recommended such as HighDensity Polypropylene Type.4. Connect the ‘INLET’ port of the filterassembly to the local water supply.5. Connect a long length of tubing to the‘EXIT port of the filter assembly. DO NOTCONNECT TO THE BREWER YET.7

B3000 Set-Up & First BrewIMPORTANT: You cannot use your Keurigbrewer until it has been primed for its first useas set forth below.Priming your Brewer1. Unwrap cord and plug the brewer into agrounded outlet.2. Place a cup or mug (10 oz Min) on the DripTray Plate (if not done the brewer willprompt for the cup or mug later in thepriming sequence).3. Press power switch (see Page 6) to ONposition.4. At power up and the brewer is new thefollowing is displayed:KEURIG B3000BREWING SYSTEM(At this stage you can go into MENU MODEto set the default language or input theservice phone number. To enter the MENUMODE proceed to page 15. You can also dothis anytime the brewer is in IDLE MODE.5. The Display will automatically change to:CONNECT WATER AND THENPRESS FLASHING BUTTON6. If water is connected then press “CONT”button which will be flashing.7. The display will read:PRIMING8. Then automatically change to:HEATING - PLEASE WAIT8READY – CHOOSE K-CUPLIFT HANDLEEspañolFrançaisHOTWATERAt this stage you may want to go into MENU MODEto set the default language or input the servicephonne number. To enter MENU MODE proceed topage 15.BREWING THE FIRST CUP1. Place a cup or mug on the Drip Tray Plate.CAUTION: There are two sharp needlesthat puncture the K-Cup portion pack,one above the K-Cup Holder and theother in the bottom of the K-Cup Holder. At this stage you do any of the following:a. Change the language for the next brewfrom the default to either of the other twolanguages displayed, just press the buttonbelow the language of your choice.b. Dispense hot water, just press and hold thebutton below HOT WATER.c. Choose a K-Cup, lift handle and insert it inthe K-Cup holder.INSERT NEW K-CUPLOWER HANDLE4. Place a K-Cup portion pack in the K-Cup Holder.

If no K-Cup is detected the display will show:NO K-CUP DETECTEDCONTINUE ANYWAY?NOYESEither insert a K-Cup or press YES to continue.NOTE: Do not remove the foil lid orpuncture the K-Cup portion pack.process lasts for approximately 40 to 52seconds (depending upon brew size selected) and ends with a burst of air to removeall liquid coffee or tea from the KCup .The button below your selected brew sizewill remain lit until the brew is completedand the following is displayed:KEURIG BREWEDENJOY!7. Enjoy your first cup of Keurig Brewed gourmet coffee or tea!8. The Brewer will be ready again for use inapproximately 20 seconds.Insert K-CupNOTE: Following the brew, your Brewer will fillin preparation for the next brew. The pump willmake a vibrating sound. This is normal.The brewer will then revert to its idle stateand indicate:Choosing option “c” the display will read:READYSELECT BREW SIZEIf no mug is present or not detected on thedrip tray it will display:PLACE YOUR CUPOR SELECT CONT.Take the appropriate action.Four brew size options are available, they arefrom left to right 4 oz, 6 oz, 8 oz and 10 oz andare indicated in the cup and mug icons. 8 oz isthe standard brew size, 4 oz and 6 oz are morerobust and 10 oz gives a milder brew.5. Press your brew size selection.The brewer display will indicate:BREWINGCAUTION: There is extremely hot water inthe K-Cup Holder during the brew process.To avoid risk of injury, do not lift theHandle or open the K-Cup Chamberduring the brew process.6. There may be a short pause before thebrewing process begins. The entire brewREADY – CHOOSE K-CUPLIFT HANDLEEspañolFrançaisHOTWATERHelpful Hints1. Keep your Brewer turned ‘ON’ at alltimes. To brew a fresh cup of coffee or teaanytime you want, we suggest you keepyour Brewer turned ‘ON’ all the time.2. Keurig requires the use of filtered wateron thiss brewer. We recommend theOmniPure Filter Kit, Keurig PN 5025.3. Plug Brewer into its own grounded outlet.If the electric circuit is overloaded withother appliances, your Brewer may notfunction properly. If possible, The Brewershould be operated on its own circuit,separate from other appliances. A separatecircuit with a GFCI is recommended.4. Brewing into a travel mug. To brew into atravel mug, simply lift and rotate back thedrip plate housing till it rests against thedrip plate back wall then place travel mugon lower drip plate and commence brew.9

Stopping the Brew ProcessEmptying the K-Cup BinIf you need to stop the brewing after the processhas started, press the Power Button to turn theBrewer ‘OFF’. The flow of coffee or tea will stop,the heating element will shut off and the LCDscreen and brew buttons will extinguish.The used K-Cup is automatically ejected intothe internal K-Cup bin. When the K-Cup binrequires emptying the brewer willdisplay:EMPTY K-CUP BINNOTE: You may get less coffee or tea in yourcup during your next brew. We recommend thatyou perform a cleansing brew without a K-Cup after a terminated brew. Then your NEXT brewwill be the proper selected volume.Dispensing Hot WaterThe B3000 brewer is able to dispense hotwater for making hot chocolate, instant soups,etc. The path of the water delivery is separatefrom the coffee delivery path. When ready thebrewer will display:READY – CHOOSE K-CUPLIFT HANDLEEspañolFrançaisHOTWATEROpen DoorTo empty the K-Cup bin open the brewer doorby grasping the door handle and swinging doorfully open to remove bin from brewer. Disposeused K-Cups and replace bin.The right hand button option is ‘Hot Water’.Hot water will be dispensed as long as thebutton is pressed up to 8 oz.Using a travel mug.RemoveK-Cup BinLift up the upperdrip tray10Place travel mug onlower drip plate

Draining the B3000 BrewerEmptying the drip trayIf you wish to drain the brewer, the followingsteps should be followed:1. Turn off the Brewer and unplug power cord.2. Turn the brewer around (shut off water anddisconnect water supply if necessary) sothe back is facing you.3. Unclip the drain hose(s) from their holders(see page 6) and lower them. Move the brewer close to the edge of the counter so thatthe drain hoses overhang.4. Place a container under the hoses andremove the drain plugs.To empty the drip tray grasp the drip tray bythe side as shown and pull it towards you.Image shows driptray removedCAUTION: The water may be very hot!NOTE: The process to completely drain thebrewer takes about 200 seconds.Pull here to removedrip tray5. When the flow of water stops replace bothdrain plugs and clip the drain hoses backinto place.The brewer’s internal hot water tank andaold water tank are now empty.6. When you power up the brewer again it willdisplay:“WAS THE BREWERDRAINED? YES NOAnswer YES to the question sothat it will start to prime the brewer.11

SECTION 2CLEANING & MAINTENANCECleaning External PartsRegular cleaning of the Brewer’s externalcomponents is recommended.1. Never immerse the base unit in water orother liquids. The Housing and other externalcomponents may be cleaned with a soapy,damp, non-abrasive cloth.2. The Drip Tray can accumulate up to 10 ozof overflow. The Drip Tray and Drip TrayPlate should be periodically inspectedand rinsed clean.Cleaning & Sanitizing theEntrance Needle AreaRegular cleaning and sanitizing of the Brewer’sEntrance needle area is recommended. Theneedle, entrance needle gasket, andsurrounding puncture mechanism should bewiped clean using a clean cloth. See figurebelow. After wiping the aforementioned areasclean then do three (3) sanitizing brews.A sanitizing or cleansing brew is performed bysimply running a brew cycle without a K-Cup inplace. To do a cleansing brew, at the ‘READY CHOOSE K-CUP - LIFT HANDLE’ Prompt, raisethe handle and then lower it as if a K-Cup hadbeen placed in the holder. The brewer willdisplay that a K-Cup is not in the holder andwill ask if you want to continue. Press thebutton beneath the ‘CONT’ prompt and thecleansing brew will start. Repeat twice more tocomplete the sanitizing process.CA. ENTRANCE NEEDLE GASKETB. ENTRANCE NEEDLEC. NEEDLE SURROUND SURFACE12Cleaning the PartsThe K-Cup Holder Assembly is dishwasher safeor can be manually cleaned and sanitized by firstremoving and rinsing under a sink faucet andthen wiped clean using a clean cloth. The unitshould be rinsed a final time. To remove from theBrewer, open the cover by lifting the Handle.Grasp the top of the K-Cup Holder with onehand while grasping and squeezing the clips atthe back of the holder (A). After releasing theholder, lift it away from the puncture mechanism(B). The removed holder assembly is seen in (C).The funnel can be separated from the holder bypulling on it until it snaps off (D) After cleaning,reassemble the K-Cup holder and funnel andthen align the K-Cup Holder with the openingusing the two front ribs as a guide and snap intoplace from the top.FIG. DCleaning the Exit NeedleBACleaning & Sanitizing K-Cup Portion Pack Holder AssemblyThe Exit Needle is located on the inside bottomof the K-Cup Holder Assembly and isprotected by a floating plate. Should a clogarise due to coffee grinds, it can be cleanedusing a paper clip or similar tool. RemoveK-Cup Holder, insert the paper clip into theNeedle to loosen the clog and push it out. TheK-Cup Holder is dishwasher safe.

Depending on the mineral content of thewater in your area, calcium deposits or scalemay build up in your Brewer. Scale is nontoxic,but left unattended, it can hinder Brewer performance. De-scaling your Brewer helpsmaintain the heating element, and other internal parts of the Brewer that come in contactwith water.The Brewer should be de-scaled every 6months to ensure optimal performance. It ispossible for calcium deposits to build up faster,making it necessary to de-scale more often.This Brewer is equipped with sensors to detectwhen scale buildup is interfering with the performance of the Brewer. When this is detected,the brewer will alert you to perform de-scaling.De-Scalinga. PREPAREStep 1: Make sure you have at least (80ounces) of undiluted citric acid on hand. Youwill also need an empty sink and a ceramiccup (do not use a paper cup.) and a Flojetpump or similarStep 2: Disconnect the brewer from thewater supply and power it off. Drain both thehot and cold water tanks.b. FILL AND CLEANStep 1: Enter the PRIME mode (enter MENUmode and answer YES to HAS BREWERBEEN DRAINED) and use a Flo-jet pumpsystem to add de-scaling solution to thebrewer. Complete the PRIMING process.Step 2: After it has primed and heated, placea ceramic cup in the Drip Tray and run abrew cycle. DO NOT USE A K-CUP portionpack, just press the Brew Button. Pour thecontents of the cup into the sink.Step 3: Now let the brewer stand for at leastone hour.Step 4: Repeat the brew process, withoutK-Cups . At least 10 times, pouring thecontents of the cup into the sink after eachcycle. We suggest using the largest brew sizeto speed the process. Remember to open andclose the brew handle between each cycle sothe blue Brew lights will flash.Step 5: Power off the brewer and drain bothhot and cold water tanks.Step 6: Reconnect the brewer to the filteredcold water supply and follow the PRIME procedure to refill the brewer.Step 7: Once the prime process is complete,power off the brewer and drain both hot andcold water tanks again.Step 8: Power up the brewer and follow thePRIME procedure again, perform several (10)cleansing brews to remove any residual tastefrom the Citric acid.NOTE: If the LCD screen still alerts you toperform a de-scale after completing theprocedure, repeat the de-scaling procedureabove.13

SECTION 3TROUBLESHOOTINGSITUATIONSOLUTIONBrewer does not Plug Brewer into an independent outlet.have power Check to be sure that it is plugged in securely. Plug into a different outlet. Reset the power outlets’ circuit breaker if necessary.Brewer will notbrew when usedfor the first time The Brewer must be primed for use by filling the internal hot water tankbefore the first brew.Brewer willnot brew After placing the K-Cup portion pack in the K-Cup Holder, make sure thatthe Handle is pushed all the way down.Brewing apartial cup If a prime sequence has been performed, without a cleansing brew, the firstcup may be “oversized”. The next cup brewed will be brewed to the properselected size. If Brewer is cold / frozen, wait for two hours for it to reach room temperature before powering on. The Exit Needle may be clogged. See Cleansing the K-Cup Portion PackHolder Assembly on page 12. Clean K-Cup Holder if necessary and rinse under faucet. See Cleansing theK-Cup Portion Pack Holder Assembly on page 12. If the brewer is alerting you to perform a 'DE-SCALE’, have your KADde-scale the Brewer. (see Page 13).If your Brewer has been in an environment below freezing, please be sure tolet it warm to room temperature for 2 hours before using.If any problems persist, contact Customer Service at 1-888-CUP-BREW (287-2739).14

StorageDrain both the Hot Water and Cold Water tanksbefore storing and take care to ensure that youstore your Brewer in a safe and frost free environment. It is suggested to store your brewerin the upright position. If you store the Brewerin a cold environment, you run the risk ofwater freezing inside the Brewer and causingdamage. When you prepare to use it after storage, we recommend rinsing the WaterReservoir with fresh water and running threecleansing brews without a K-Cup .If you plan to move your Brewer to a differentlocation, turn the Brewer off, unplug it andempty both the Hot Water and Cold Watertanks. If your Brewer has been in an environment below freezing, please be sure to let itwarm to room temperature for 2 hours beforeusing.6.
