www.daikinreefer.comThe most important part of any refrigeration machine is the compressor and thescroll compressor is the right choice for today’s demanding performance andreliability requirements.Scroll compressor:Scroll compressors have already been adopted in the majority of air conditioningand refrigeration applications due to their superior performance compared withalternative technologies. Key benefits include: Fewer partsEasier to manufactureHigher reliabilityHigher co-efficient of performanceLower weightGreater cooling capacityLower power consumptionLower noise levelsReduced vibrationThe scroll compressor used in the LXE10E machine wasdeveloped specifically for container applications, drawing on allof Daikin’s technological expertise. Daikin has been designingand manufacturing scroll compressors for over 20 years. The company is one of thelargest producers of scroll compressor in the world today, manufacturing over 1.2 millioncompressors every year for a wide variety of refrigeration and air conditioning products.Daikin is the only manufacturer of container refrigeration machinery that can offer thislevel of experience and expertise in scroll compressor technology. Advanced designfeatures that ensure the best performance from the LXE10E scroll compressor include:High efficiency asymmetric scrollThe scroll design in the LXE10E features dual suction gas entry technology, withstaggered gas discharge from the two entry compression chambers. This reduces overcompression loss in comparison with a normal scroll compressor, guaranteeing optimalefficiency. The compression process from the suction to the discharge port is also shorter thannormal, thereby reducing heat influence from other areas and improving energy efficiencyHigh reliability bearingsThe compressor uses a rolling bearing for the upper main bearing and a sliding bearingfor the orbiting scroll drive. This combination ensures an ideal oil supply, regardless of thecondition of the suction gas.Page 2 of 923/11/2006

www.daikinreefer.comProper distribution of suction gasThe scroll compressor has a motor housing that can distribute the suction gas to themotor for cooling and to the compression. By providing proper distribution of the suctiongas, pressure loss is reduced while the motor is cooled down sufficiently. This designfeature has improved the volumetric efficiency of the LXE10E scroll compressor byapproximately 3.5%.Highly efficient Trochoidal pumpA stable oil supply for the scroll is guaranteed by the use of a highly efficient Trochoidpump.Anti-corrosive paintReefer boxes and machines are subjected to severe environmental conditions and it iscrucial that the paint on the compressor body is of extreme durability. To ensuremaximum protection against corrosion and the effects of UV light, the LXE10E scrollcompressor is treated with a two-coat paint system: Undercoat: epoxy zincTopcoat: Micaceous iron oxide (MIO)Wide operation range Extended scroll wrap and adoption of gas injection systemHigh durability against shock and vibrationPowerful cooling capacityFor non pre-cooled cargo: The LXE10E has excellent cooling capacity to provide a fasttemperature pull-down, which can prevent chilled cargo from ripening. For deep-frozen cargoes: The LXE10E provides sufficient cooling capacity to ensurereliable transportation with end-user satisfaction. It also extends the reefer box’s lifeexpectancy. The DAIKIN LXE10E machine also meets all the new proposed ISO requirements, currently being discussed.Net Cooling CapacityTemperature (Ti/Ta)Cooling Capacity (watts) 2/ 3810,600-18/ 386,400-29/ 384,000Sensitive temperature controlTo protect fresh products from freeze damage, the LXE10E provides uniform supply airtemperature with its precise refrigerant control system. This function enables the unit to beoperated without a separate temperature chart recorder, whilstthe full trip data will also be stored in the controller memory fortwo years.Daikin’s DCCS software has many advantages, providingoperational data control, the generation of reports and analysingthe machine operation: Fast controller data downloads to personal computer.Easy analysis of live operational conditions withsimplified piping diagram and actual sensor data.Easy preparation of Trip/USDA/PTI reports etc.Quick and easy data uploads from your laptop.Daikin Temperature Management System (DTMS)Developed for use with the LXE10E, DTMS is Daikin’s newly developed controllogic that significantly reduces power consumption and provides the optimumtemperature environment and airflow for chilled cargo.DTMS significantly improves refrigeration performance by continually monitoring bothsupply-air and return-air temperatures, together with their rate of change. DTMS is theonly product on the market to monitor all three of these parameters.DTMS works by automatically adjusting thecargo environment inside the containerbased on actual ambient conditions andcargo respiration rates. This continual finetuning enables temperature and airflowinside the container to be controlled withmuch greater accuracy, as the systemresponds to real time conditions. The real time monitoring and adjustmentensures that the refrigeration unit operatesat optimum efficiency, using the minimumamount of power. Automatic adjustment of fan speeds also reduces produce dehydration, particularly for chilled cargoes with a higher water concentration.Page 5 of 923/11/2006

www.daikinreefer.comLow operating costs:A refined refrigerant control system allows the LXE10E to operate in any weathercondition and with all types of cargo. Although extremely powerful, the LXE10E hasvery sensitive temperature control and utilises a hot gas system to provide bothhighly efficient defrosting and controllable heating.Daikin’s control systems ensure cargo is maintained at the correct temperature with theminimum amount of power being consumed, protecting both the cargo and theenvironment. Many companies are using a Total Cost ofOwnership calculation to assess the differentmachines, when realistic parameters are usedthe Daikin LXE10E fitted with DTMS, combinedwith the highest reliability and lowest cost ofspares provides the lowest annual operatingcost.annual cost USDThe high quality, performance and reliability provided by the DAIKIN LXE10E ensures allour customers benefit from very low operatingAnnual operating costcosts and high utilisation and safetransportation of cargo to all locations in the600world.4002000Daikin (fittedwith DTMS)competitor AM&Rcompetitor BPowerBasic SpecificationsDimensionsRefrigerantFresh Air exchangeInside temperature rangeAmbient temperature rangeAir flow rateCooling CapacityPower ConsumptionPage 6 of 9HeightWidthDepthWeightTypeCharge amount12.7mm H2O @ 60HzHigh (60Hz – 50Hz)Low (60Hz – 50Hz)Ti -18ºC, Ta 38ºCTi 2ºC, Ta 38ºCTi -18ºC, Ta 22ºCTi -1ºC, Ta 25ºC2234.5mm2025mm416mm465kg /- 2.5%HFC R134A4.6kg0 – 250 m³/hr-30ºC 30ºC-30ºC 50ºC96.3 – 77 m³/hr48.2 – 38.5 m³/hr6,400 Watts10,600 Watts2,200 Watts4,700 Watts (DTMS)23/11/2006
