CYCLO 6000 GearmotorsLubricationCyclo Gearmotors are either Grease lubricated or Oil lubricated.Refer to pages 5.3 and 5.4 to determine the unit lubrication type. Grease lubricated gearmotors are filled with grease prior toshipment and are ready for installation and operation Oil lubricated gearmotors must be filled with the properamount of approved oil before installation and operation Lubrication methods (grease or oil) are specified forCyclo driven at standard input speed.NOTE: Some models normally designed foroil lubrication may be specially orderedfor grease lubrication; please consult factory.Oil Fill LevelOil Sight GaugeApproved GreasesGrease lubricated gearmotors are filled with grease prior to shipment andare ready for installation and operation. CYCLO 6000 GearmotorsOverhung Loads Slow Speed ShaftOverhung Loads are loads that act perpendicular to the gearmotor shaft. Each gearmotor has a maximum allowable overhungload (OHL) capacity, which is shown in the Frame Size Selection Tables for each gearmotor. In applications with an OHL, it is critical that the OHL is calculated and that the chosen gearmotor is adequately sized for the maximum OHL.How to Calculate Overhung Load (OHL)Centerline of LoadStep 1. Measure distance X from gearmotor collar surfaceto the centerline of the OHL.XCollarSurfaceStep 2. Determine Lf (Load Location Factor) for your chosen Frame Size, using Load Location Factor Table on the next page.Step 3. Determine Cf (Connection Factor) and Sf (Shock Factor) from the tables below:Service Factor (Sf)Load Connection Factor (Cf)CONNECTION TYPEFACTORGeneral Purpose ChainMachined Gear or Synchronous BeltV-BeltFlat Belt1.01.251.52.5DEGREE OF SHOCKSteady LoadsModerate ShockHeavy ShockFACTOR1.01.31.6Step 4. Apply Lf, Cf and Sf to the formula to calculate the OHL.EXAMPLE:Known HP Power Transmitted by shaft (HP)Known D Pitch Diameter of sprocket (inches)OverhungLoadsKnown N Shaft Speed (RPM)126,000 x HP X Lf X Cf X Sf Calculated OHLD X NStep 5. Refer back to the Frame Size Selection Tables (pp. 3.1–3.32) to determine maximumallowable OHL capacity for the selected Frame Size.If the calculated OHL does not exceed the OHL capacity (from Selection Table),the selected Frame Size is acceptable. If the calculated OHL exceeds the OHL capacity, there are two standard options thatcan increase the OHL capacity of a reducer: High Capacity Bearings Option–R1 (Table on pg. 5.8) Ductile Iron Housing & High Capacity Bearings Option–R2 (Table on pg. 5.9)If neither of these options adequately increase the OHL capacity:1. Choose the next larger Frame Size, or2. Move the OHL closer to the collar surface, or3. Decrease the OHL by increasing the pitch diameter of the connecting drive.Be sure to recalculate and verify the OHL capacity for the new frame size.5.6 Technical InformationCyclo 6000 Series

Centerline of the load (X) is 1.5 from the collar surface.Procedure:1. Calculate the overhung load with Cf 1.0 (from Step 3, pg. 5.6), Lf 1.08 (from Step 3, pg. 5.6).Overhung Load 126,000 x 5 x 1.0 x 1.08 x 1.0 1152 lbs.9.84 x 602. In the Selection Tables (pages 3.1–3.58), check the overhung load capacity of the 6135, 29:1 with the 1750 RPM input speed.Allowable Overhung Load for the 6135 is 2125 lbs. Since the allowable overhung load of the 6135 is larger than the calculatedoverhung load of 1152 lbs., the application is satisfactory.Cyclo 6000 SeriesTechnical Information 5.7
