These proceduresshould not be attempted by “do-it-yourselfers.”Engine block heaterAluminum washer1.Allow the engine and all cooling systemcomponents to cool down.2.Place a clean drain pan under the radiator drainplug, then remove the drain plug from the bottomof the radiator to drain the coolant. Remove theradiator cap to increase the flow.Heater harnessProtective capNOTICE Radiator coolant will damage paint. Using a nonHonda coolant can result in corrosion, causing thecooling system to malfunction or fail. 3.Open the hood and remove the radiator cover (fiveclips).5.CLIPRemove the drain plug from the rear of the engineblock near the oil filter. Coolant remaining in theengine jacket will flow out of the drain plug holewhen removed. Retain the drain plug to be used ifthe engine block heater is NT4.Remove the radiator mount bracket (two bolts).2508030K6.Install the engine block heater with the aluminumwasher into the bolt hole using a 24 mm socketand a torque wrench. 7.9.Using a tape measure, measure and mark theheater harness at the measurements shown.FELT-TIPPENRoute the heater harness alongside the vehicleharness and secure the heater harness to thevehicle harness with three wire ties in the areasshown.HEATERHARNESSVEHICLE HARNESSMARKFRONT170 mmFELTTIPPENWIRE TIE(Attachover themarkmade at450 mm.)WIRETIE450 mm655 mm2011031KMARK8.MARKPlug the connector of the heater harness into theengine block heater and route the heater harnessover the engine. Secure the heater harness to thevehicle harness with one wire tie in the OUNTBOLTHEATER VEHICLEHARNESS GROUNDHARNESS2508062K10. Route the heater harness to the back of the rightheadlight along the vehicle harness, then securethe harnesses with two wire ties in the ATERWIRETIE2508072KMARK WIRE TIEHEATER(Attach over the markHARNESS BULKHEADmade at 655 mm.)UPPER FRAME2508051K11. Route the heater harness to the side of the rightheadlight through the back of the bulkhead upperframe, then hang it down toward the front. 12. Further secure the heater harness to the holes inthe right bulkhead side stay with two wire ties inthe areas shown. If the vehicle you are working onis equipped with A/C, check that the heaterharness is not interfering with the A/C pipes.13. If you are also installing fog lights, secure theheater harness to the fog light harness with twowire ties as shown. 14. Route the heater harness out through the frontbumper grille. Continue routing the heaterharness through the back of the bumper ribs, thensecure it to the ribs with two wire ties as shown.HEATERHARNESSWIRE TIE(Attach over the markmade at 170 mm.)MARKWIRE 62KPROTECTIVE CAP15. Attach the protective cap to the bumper rib, thenplug the heater harness connector into the cap.16. Reinstall the radiator drain plug, the radiator mountbracket, and the radiator cover.17. Fill the system with the recommended coolant.Follow the instructions described in the servicemanual.18. Check the coolant reservoir for the correct leveland signs of leakage. Repair as necessary.19. Check that the heater harness is routed properlyand all connectors are plugged in.20.
