L A S T W E E K ' S G A M E - S E A H AW K S V S . C A R D I N A L S ( W E E K 4 )Seahawks 20, CARDINALS 17September 30, 2018 – State Farm Stadium (61,845)In week 4 at State Farm Stadium, the big story entering the game was Cards rookie QB Josh Rosen. The team’s 1st round pick and 10th overall selec on, Rosen - at 21 years, 232 days old - became theyoungest player in Cards history to start at QB. Twice in the game the Cardinals found themselvestrailing the Seahawks and twice Rosen led them back. That included in the fourth quarter when Sea le led 17-10 before the rookie led a 5-play, 80-yard drive that Rosen capped with his 1st career TDpass to e the game midway through the quarter. Later in the 4th, he marched the Cards into Sea leterritory to set-up a go-ahead FG try but Phil Dawson’s 45-yarder was wide right with 1:50 le . Thatwas enough me for Sea le to get into posi on for Sebas an Janikowski’s 52-yard boot as me expired that won the game for the Seahawks and dropped AZ to 0-4 in heart-breaking fashion.A er the teams traded punts to open the game, Sea le advanced to the AZ20 in 5 plays. Fromthere, RB Mike Davis took a handoff and bounced outside before racing down the right sideline togive the Seahawks a 7-0 lead. On the next play from scrimmage, Cards RB David Johnson fumbled andSea le recovered at the Cards 26. Suddenly staring down the barrel of an early double-digit deficit, the AZ defense s ffened and held the Seahawks to a 38-yard FG try that Janikowski pushed right. TheCards offense answered by driving into Sea le territory and appeared to e the game on a 22-yardRosen TD pass to WR Chad Williams. However, a replay review overturned it, saying that Williams didnot get his 2nd foot down. That instead led to a 23-yard Dawson FG early in the 2nd quarter. With5:30 to go before intermission, Sea le was threatening again but Janikowski’s 52-yard FG try missedle giving the Cards great field posi on at their own 42. Thanks to a 21-yard David Johnson run and a10-yard Larry Fitzgerald pass on 3rd-n-5, the Cards found themselves at the SEA18 at the 2:00 warning. A defensive pass interference penalty in the end zone then took it to the 1 where Johnson’s TDrun made it 10-7 AZ with 1:52 le . With :34 remaining, Sea le went for it on 4th-n-1 at the AZ44but DE Chandler Jones sacked Russell Wilson for a 6-yard loss, turning it over to the Cards offenseat midfield. Rosen moved the team into posi on for a FG try but Dawson’s 50-yarder missed right asme expired.Sea le’s opening drive of the 3rd quarter resulted in a 40-yard Janikowski FG that ed it at 10.The Seahawks then went ahead 17-10 a er Davis’ 1-yard run capped a 5-play, 47-yard drive. The3rd quarter was all Sea le, who more than doubled AZ in total plays (18-7) and me of possession(10:05-4:55). With 11:38 to play, the Cards found themselves at their own 20 and down 17-10. A 31yard Rosen pass to TE Ricky Seals-Jones moved it to the SEA 49 and a 32-yard screen pass to Johnsonmoved it to the 19. Two plays later from the 22, Rosen hit Chad Williams in the end zone with thegame-tying TD with 8:59 to go. A er the defense sent Sea le 3-n-out, AZ began at its own 24 with7:11 le . The Cards moved to the SEA27 at the 2:00 warning but Dawson missed from 45. With 1:50le , the Seahawks took over at their own 25 and out of meouts. But that was enough for Wilson tomove into posi on for the . He really did agreat job of diges ng whatthey were giving us defensively. When you have a quarterback with his kind of ability it’s a shot of adrenalinefor everybody because he doesn’t ever hang his head. He gets hit, gets up,comes to the sideline, ‘Hey guys this is what I see if we get this look again,'communicates very well on the sideline. He’s got great huddle composureand demand. He’s got everybody’s full a en on. You look in his eyes and he’sready for the task. It was great to see him come out and perform and to dosome of the things he did. The balls were where they were supposed to beand that’s encouraging.”Head Coach Steve Wilks"I thought he played well, I thought he gave us the opportunity and chance towin at the end. Very poised, the confidence is there. You see the athle cism,to be able to get us out of certain situa ons. He didn’t get down, even thoughwe had a couple of drops there. S ll encouraging his teammates, went back, stayed the course, con nued to try and operate and run the offense well. It’snot too big for him. The guy’s poised, has a lot of confidence and we have abright future with him.”LT D.J. Humphries“I was very impressed with what he did. He commanded the huddle anddidn’t have any moments that seemed like it was too big for him. He’s agamer. He’s one of those guys. Half the NFL is scared; it’s just some guys
