FEATURES AND BENEFITS1 Emergency Stem Sealant InjectionThis standard feature allows the valve’s stem housingto be adapted with a grease fitting to inject sealantduring emergency scenarios. By filling the cavity betweenthe stem and stem housing, this secondary stem sealprovides protection against unplanned spikes in operatingconditions.2Emergency Seat Sealant InjectionThis optional feature allows the valve’s end connectionsto be adapted with a grease fitting to inject sealant. Thiscreates a positive seal in the case of seat leakage dueto service impurities or unplanned spikes in operatingconditions.3 Drain and Vent PortsDrain ports located at the bottom of the valve allow forelimination of any fluid trapped in the body cavity of aclosed valve. Vent ports located at the top of the bodycavity allow for elimination of any gas trapped in the bodycavity of a fully closed valve. Both play a key safety role ina double block and bleed and double isolation and bleedvalve configurations.4 Double Block and BleedThis valve configuration provides the safety feature ofeliminating any high pressure media that is trapped in thevalve’s body cavity. This pressure relief system is versatile,allowing the pressure buildup to be eliminated while thevalve is in the fully closed position. Additionally, periodicseat integrity tests can be performed.5 Firesafe DesignSecondary metal seat design provides a firesafe shut offper API 607. Additionally, secondary graphite body sealsand flexible graphite packing prevents leakage through thebody joints and stuffing box, respectively.6 Internal Trunnion DesignUpper and lower bearing plates hold the ball in place. Thiscompact design prevents the ball from floating axially,avoiding excess load on the seats. Additionally, externaltrunnion design available in certain sizes.7 Pressure Energized Stem PackingThe proprietary energizer ring located above the primaryo-ring stem seal provides insurance in the rare occasionthe o-ring is damaged. The energizer ring would use themedia pressure to create an upward compressive forceon the packing. This upward force on the packing iscombined with the downward compressive force createdby tightening the packing gland. This results in a largernet compressive force on the packing and better seal than atypical packing design.8 Double Seals on Body JointsPrimary elastomeric seals ensure zero leakage in standardoperating conditions. Secondary graphite seals ensureproper body joint sealing per API 607 in extremetemperature scenarios.9 Anti-Static DevicesAnti-static devices are provided as standard. As temperatures rise,media trapped inside the body cavity builds up excessive pressure.This pressure pushes the seat away from the ball, compresses theseat springs, and allows the media to relieve past the seat. Thisself-relieving seat design allows for safe operation without theneed for dedicated bleed lines.Single Piston Upstream PressureDouble Piston EffectThis seat design uses pressure on both sides of the seat to assistsealing. As seen below, pressurized media upstream of the seatresults in a force pushing the seat toward the ball. Similarly, whenthe pressurized media is inside the body cavity, the resulting forcepushes the seat toward the ball. This sealing effect doesn’t allowfor self-relieving of cavity pressure and, in turn, requires a bleedline be installed within the body cavity. This type of valve configuration is valuable in applications where two redundant seals arerequired in the same direction (e.g. when repairs are being madedownstream in a toxic service line).
