Our Master of CeremonyGray N. Thornton, EmceeGray N. Thornton serves as President and Chief ExecutiveOfficer of the Wild Sheep Foundation (WSF), the premiersheep and mountain game conservation organization in theworld dedicated to “Putting and Keeping Wild Sheep on theMountain .”Prior to joining the Wild Sheep Foundation in 2008, Thornton served as Executive Directorof the Dallas Safari Club from 1997-2008 and Chapter & Membership Director for SafariClub International from 1990 – 1997 producing record results for membership growth,fundraising and mission funding for both organizations. Thornton followed his passion tothe conservation/hunting industry after a successful sales career with Unisys and Xeroxcorporations.It was at his time with DSC that he became a supporter and advocate for MOGA and theindustry it serves. With the relocation of the WSF offices to Bozeman, that relationshipgrew to include the Big Hearts under the Big Sky program. Gray knows first-hand thetherapeutic value that Montana outdoor adventures can bring, and he understands that“Montana Heals.”Thornton serves on the Board of Directors of Bear Trust International, serving as ViceChairman of Board. He has also served on the Boards of the Conservation Fund, theProfessional Hunters Association of South Africa Conservation and Empowerment Fund,the Ballot Issues Coalition, the Banovich Wildscape Fund, and the Lone Star Outdoor NewsFoundation.He is a Summit Life Member of WSF, a Chadwick Ram Society Member, a WSF LegacySociety Member, and a Life Member of numerous WSF chapters and affiliates. Thornton isalso a Life Member of SCI, NRA, DSC, TU, a Monarch Life Member of Wild Sheep Societyof BC, and a Life Member of many guide/outfitter associations.He is an avid hunter as well as salt and freshwater fly fisherman and has hunted and flyfished throughout North America and internationally, including 17 safaris to Africa, andhas hunted in New Zealand, Germany, Mexico and Canada. As a mountain hunter, he hastaken all Four North American Wild Sheep (FNAWS), a Rocky Mountain goat as well astahr and chamois.He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Marketing from CaliforniaState University at Fresno and has earned advanced credits in Wildlife Management fromColorado State University at Fort Collins.Thornton resides in Bozeman, Montana with his Weimaraner Sage and Vizsla, Sienna.2

He spends time shed-horn hunting, hunting, fishing and he was aguide for a number of years. His art consists of carving, pen and ink, painting and tattooing. This year’s offering features atraditional Trade-style knife.This early American design was typical of the 1750sand was used by Frontiersman and soldiers of theperiod starting in the French and Indian War andthrough the American Revolutionary war. Fighterson all sides carried this important war-time tool.A truly one-of-a-kind handcrafted American Bowie knife is made from ¼” 0-1 Tool Steel and fittedwith a beautiful Birdseye maple and bloodwood handle. Decorative cuts and mosaic pins are uniqueto this build.
