Laden Container Handling TrucksH40-50XM-16CH40 000-50 000 kg @ 1600 mm

Built on ExperienceThe H40-50XM-16CH range of dedicated containerhandlers is the 6th generation of a proven machine. Thesetrucks build on more than 40 years of Hyster experience inproviding solutions to the container handling industry.Q Container handlers equipped with a mast are receivingrenewed interest from terminal operators, because these‘first row container stackers’ perform container shuntingoperations faster than most reachstackers.Q The ‘masted’ Hyster H40-50XM-16CH trucksrepresent a refreshing concept, purposely developed todeliver these high ‘box-rates’ in first row stacking operations,at the lowest possible operational costs.Q The location of the operator compartment – towards the rearof the machine - is unique and unconventional.Q Although well accepted on empty container handlers, Hysterwas the first manufacturer to apply the rearmounted cabconcept for laden container handlers, as it provides trulyexcellent all-round visibility.Q The key benefit of this layout is that any obstruction to theoperator’s forward visibility is greatly reduced. ForwardQ The H40-50XM-16CH series of ‘first row containervisibility is comparable to most reachstackers. Rearwardstackers’ have been developed using the experiencesvisibility is outstanding.gained through the manufacture to-date of over 1000 Hyster‘masted’ container handlers.Q Constructed using proven components, these trucksfeature the chassis and the complete drivetrain of theHyster ReachStacker.Q The Hyster designed ‘Vista’ mast, the supremely simplededicated carriage and the container spreader are provencomponents, as featured on hundreds of Hyster containerhandlers, which have been in operation for many years.Q The machine features the Hyster ‘Vista’ operatorcompartment, as offered on other Hyster products. It hasindustry-leading ergonomics, and provides superior drivercomfort and excellent all-round visibility.2

VisibilityQ The rear-mounted cab position offers an optimum level ofall-round visibility that is unique in this product segment.Q The driver is able to maintain a complete 40ft container in hisline of sight, during the entire handling operation withminimal head movement.Q The driver has an excellent view of the job at hand, notonly thanks to the cab position itself, but also the extensiveglass area and the position of the dash display (mounted onthe right hand side). Upward visibility is also virtually free fromobstruction, thanks to a clever overhead guard design.Q The ‘Vista’ mast has extremely wide-spaced channelsthat allow for greater visibility.PerformanceFast, economic handling is the prime benefit of the Hyster ‘firstrow stacker’ container handler.Q Due to the simplicity of the ‘straight lift’ mast movement andhigh lifting speeds, these container handling machinesperform ‘container-shunting’ operations faster than mostreachstacker type machines.Q The fastest spreader (dis)engagement to/from containers isenhanced by the spreader’s floating twistlocks, freemechanical articulation and sideshift movement.Automatic twistlock locking, the lift- and overloweringinhibitor and spreader rotation and reach are all importantstandard features that help boost productivity.Q Automotive style driver layout and logical joystick typecombi-control help the operator to sustain a highperformance level.Q Endurance is also provided through the truck’s coolingsystem that is suitable for operation in ambient temperaturesup to 50 C. The hydraulically driven cooling fan onlyoperates on-demand, consuming less energy, improving fueleconomy and reducing average noise.3

Power and PerformanceStage IIIB engine:For use mainly within EU (European Union) countries, truckswith Stage IIIB diesel engines have significantly reducedexhaust gas emissions. Also by applying Hyster IntelligentDesign criteria, these trucks are not only cleaner running butalso more economical, achieving up to a 20% fuel saving.Q The new Stage IIIB compliant Cummins QSL9 9-litre enginehas a maximum performance of 276 kW (370 Hp) at 1900 rpmand maximum torque of 1491 Nm at 1500 rpm.Q The transmission available as standard with the engine is theTE-27 series, with the TE-32 available as an option, featuring4-speeds with APC216 automatic gear shifting, protectiveforward-reverse shifting lock-out and transmissionprotection system.NOTE: A Stage IIIB engine must run on Ultra LowSulphur Diesel (ULSD) fuel, with a maximum of 15 ppmsulphur content. Diesel fuel with a higher sulphurcontent than 15 ppm will compromise the emissionsperformance of the Stage IIIB engine and may result indamage to components.Stage IIIA engine:This existing diesel engine conforms to Stage IIIA emissionstandards and will be supplied into markets where the NRMMTransmission(Non Road Mobile Machinery) Stage lllB legislation does not apply.Q The S.O.H. model TE-27 powershift transmission has fullyautomatic ‘APC216’ soft-shift 4-speed gear change and anQ The Stage IIIA Cummins QSM 11 6-cylinder diesel enginefeatures a turbo-intercooler engine delivering 224 kW(300 Hp) at 1800 - 2100 rpm.Q Very smooth torque characteristic, with max. 1424 Nmbetween 1000-1400 rpm, resulting in excellent lifting andacceleration power, combined with low fuel consumption.Q Engine protection system, with derate function on highcoolant temperature and/or low oil pressure.Q Heavy-duty air cleaner, with two-stage filter plus a cyclonicpre-cleaner, suitable for dusty operating environments.electronic ‘inching’ function, plus a protective lock-out, tohelp prevent forward to reverse shifting while on the move.Q Back-up alarm sounds when in reverse gear.AxlesQ Drive axle with double reduction and one-piece drive shafts, with multiple wet disc brakes with cooling system.BrakesQ Service brakes: Oil cooled, multiple wet disc brakes on thefront wheels, hydraulically charged by accumulator, withcooling system.Q Cooling system suitable up to 50 C. The hydraulically drivencooling fan only operates on-demand, consuming lessenergy, improving fuel economy and reducing average noise.Q Parking brake: Spring actuated and hydraulically released, acting on the drive shaft. Parking brake is automaticallyapplied when hydraulic pressure falls below 100 bar.Q Fuel Tank: 890 litres.Q Steer axle with single steering cylinder and nonadjustabletie-rods. Wheel nut protection.Q 18.00 x 25 wheels fitted all-round.4

Hydraulic SystemSpreader SpecificationsQ E-hydraulics, proportional controls and optional soft start /Hyster 20’-40’ Telescopic top lift spreader for handling ISOstop improve controllability and durability.Q Pumps: Two variable-displacement piston pumps, with atotal performance of maximum 585 l/min.Q Hyster two-speed system with regenerative function resultsin high lift speeds.Q Leak-free ORFS (O-ring) type fittings are used throughoutthe whole machine.Q When hydraulic temperature is too low for operatingconditions, the engine will derate.
