Ensure that the unit is in a well-ventilatedarea. Do not expose the unit to rain or moisture.First-time useThe recorder has an express installationwizard that lets you easily configure basicrecorder settings when first used. It configuresall cameras simultaneously. The configurationcan then be customized as required.By default, the setup wizard will start once therecorder has loaded. The wizard walks youthrough some of the more important settingsof your recorder. Select the preferredlanguage for the system and then enter theadministrator password. The default adminpassword is 1234. It is strongly recommendedthat this password is changed.The wizard will then guide you through themenus to set the time and date, networkconfiguration, HDD management, andrecording configuration.When all the required changes have beenentered, click Finish to exit the wizard. Therecorder is now ready to use. Recording startsautomatically.Operating the recorderThere are several ways to control the unit: Front panel controlQuick install IR remote controlRecommended steps for setting up therecorder: Mouse control Web browser control (TruVision Navigator,TVRmobile) KTD-405 keypad control TVK-800 keypad (from TVK-800 firmwareversion 1.0i)1. Connect all the devices required to theback panel of the recorder. See Figure 1on page 1.Basic connections:Connect the cameras to the BNC camerainputs and monitor A to the BNC, VGA orHDMI output. Connect the mouse to theUSB port in the front panel.Optional connections:All the other connections shown areoptional and depend upon installationrequirements.2. Connect the power supply to the unit andturn on the power.Front panelThe buttons on the front panel control mostfunctions. See Figure 2 on page 2 for thelocations of the controls.IR remote controlThe IR remote control buttons are similar tothose on the front panel. Place the two AAAbatteries in the remote control.3. To connect the remote control to therecorder:1. Press Menu on the front panel or right-clickthe mouse and select Menu. The mainmenu screen appears.2. Select Display Mode Settings Monitor.3. Check the recorder’s device address value.The default value is 255. The deviceaddress is valid for all IR controls.4. On the remote control press the Devicebutton. Gateway address - 192.168.1.1 Server Port: 8000 HTTP Port: 80 RTSP port: 554Note: The following ports need to beforwarded in the router in order to connectproperly: Server port and RTSP port.Figure 4: Web browser interface5. Enter the device address value. It must bethe same as that on the recorder.6. Press OK on the remote control.USB mouseThe USB mouse provided with the recorderoperates all the functions of the recorder,unlike the front panel, which has limitedfunctionality. The mouse lets you navigate andmake changes to settings in the userinterface.Connect the mouse to the recorder byplugging the mouse USB connector into theUSB port on the back or front panel. Themouse is immediately operational and thepointer should appear.Web browser controlThe recorder’s Web browser lets you view,record, and play back videos as well asmanage all aspects of the recorder from anyPC with Internet access. The browser’s easyto-use controls give you quick access to allrecorder functions.To access the unit, open a web browser andenter the IP address assigned to the recorderas a web address. In the logon screen, enterthe default user ID and password: User ID: admin Password: 1234The default values for recorder networksettings are: DHCP: Disabled by default. IP address - 192.168.1.82 Subnet mask - 255.255.255.04Live view modeLive mode is the normal operating mode of theunit where you watch live pictures from thecameras.Regularly used functions in live view can bequickly accessed by clicking the left-button ofthe mouse when its cursor is on the cameraimage. The shortcut pop-up toolbar appears.See Figure 3 on page 2 for a description ofthe functions available.Configuring the recorderThe recorder has an icon-driven menustructure that allows you to configure the unit’sparameters.
