Wireless 3-Axis Magnetic F ield SensorIntroductionThe Wireless 3-Axis Magnetic Field Sensor is acombination wireless and USB sensor that connects to acomputer or tablet device through Bluetooth, and can alsoconnect to a computer with a USB cable (included). Thesensor measures the X, Y, and Z components of themagnetic flux density in tesla, millitesla, and gauss. Thearrangement of the X, Y, and Z components is shown onthe top label.PS-3221 In SPARKvue, select the HELP button (screen including the Home Screen. In PASCO Capstone, select PASCO Capstone Helpfrom the Help menu, or press F1.CompatibilityFor more information about wireless compatibility, see thePASCO website at:www.pasco.com/compatibilityThe two magnetic field sensing elements are in the end ofthe probe. One is a three-axis 50 gauss (G) sensorlocated under the dot on the probe. The other is athree-axis 1300 G sensor located under the dot with thering around it. The bottom surface of the probe has bumpsat one centimeter intervals relative to the sensing elementlocation.Using the SensorThe sensor is designed to work with PASCO data collectionsoftware to measure magnetic field strength. In the software, start data collection to begin recordingmagnetic field strength along all three axes in units ofgauss (G). Position the sensing elements (marked by dotson the end of the probe) at the location to be measured andorient the sensor with the field lines.PlatformBluetooth SMART CompatibilityiOSiPad 3 and lateriPhone 4S and lateriPod touch 5 and laterSPARK LX / LXiAll modelsAndroidAndroid 4.4 and laterChromebookChrome OS (requires PS-3500 Adapter*)Mac OS XModels introduced July 2011 or later*WindowsWindows 7 and later (requires PS-3500 Adapter*)See Appendix A for more information about the PS-3500 Adapter andMac OS X models.Initial Step: Charge the BatteryData Collection SoftwareTo USB portSPARKvue Mac OS X Mac OS X Windows Windows iOS Android ChromebookSee the PASCO web site atwww.pasco.com/softwareTo MicroUSB portConnect the Cable: Use the Micro USB Cable toconnect the micro USB port on the end of the sensor toa USB port or USB charger such as the PASCOPS-2575 USB Single Port Charger. Charging beginsautomatically. The charger circuit inside the sensorturns itself off when the unit is fully charged. Thebattery status LED will shine yellow as the battery ischarging, and will shine green when the battery ischarged. The battery is partially charged at the factory.Initial charging time may be three hours or longerdepending on the power source and the condition ofthe battery.LED Informationfor help in selecting the right PASCO software and to checkfor the latest versions. The Bluetooth and the Battery Status LEDs operate asfollows:Software HelpSee the SPARKvue Help or PASCO Capstone Help forinformation about collecting, displaying, and analyzingdata.2Micro USBcable[]PASCO Capstone) in any013-16036A

For example, the sensor turns itself off after a few minutes of inactivity. The battery life between charges for the sensor variesdepending on the sampling rate. The battery life rangesbetween 11 hours for high sample rates to more than 70hours for low sample rates.**Best case disregarding noise (digital bin size)Technical SupportFor assistance with any PASCO product, contact PASCOat:Address: PASCO scientific10101 Foothills Blvd.Roseville, CA 95747-7100Phone: 1 916 462 8384 (worldwide)8700-772-8700 (U.S.)Web:www.pasco.comEmail:support@pasco.comIn typical classroom/lab use, this would translate to abattery life between charges ranging from one to fourweeks or more, because full-day continuous samplingwould be unusual. Even in the most extreme case with ahigh sample rate, the sensor battery would support a fullday of use before needing to recharge. The Reference Guide will be updated periodically. For thelatest revision of this Reference Guide, visit the PASCOWeb site atMaximizing Battery Lifeand enter the product number, PS-3221, in the text window. One factor that affects battery life is the storagetemperature and the number of charge cycles. Therefore, avoid storing the sensor in very cold or very hotenvironments.Replacement PartsSuggested ExperimentsLimited WarrantyFor a description of the product warranty, see the PASCO catalog. In magnetic particle testing, we are concerned only with ferromagnetic materials. 3.2.2.4 Circular Magnetic Field. A circular magnetic field is a magnetic field surrounding the flow of the electric current. For magnetic particle testing, this refers to current flow in a central conductor or the part itself. 3.2.2.5 Longitudinal Magnetic Field.

Academic literary criticism prior to the rise of “New Criticism” in the United States tended to practice traditional literary history: tracking influence, establishing the canon of major writers in the literary periods, and clarifying historical context and allusions within the text. Literary biography was and still is an important interpretive method in and out of the academy; versions of .
