This past year has been one of major posiƟvegrowth for Hospice Calgary and we couldn’t have doneit without you. Throughout the year, we asked for yourfeedback to help guide our work in several areas. Whatyou shared has made us stronger now and moving forward, as we conƟnue to provide compassionate supportwhen life changes.Looking forward, Hospice Calgary will conƟnue to workclosely with exisƟng community partners and broadenour reach through new collaboraƟons. Also, we will stayaƩuned for innovaƟve ways of addressing communityneeds, including addiƟonal supports for those caringfor loved ones at home, as well as more educaƟon andresearch. We are ready for these challenges and hopeyou’ll join us!We wish to honour and express special graƟtudeto long-Ɵme Hospice Calgary supporter, the KahanoīFoundaƟon. In the early 1980s, Mr. Syd Kahanoī gave theoriginal donaƟon that started Hospice Calgary. This pastyear, prior to closing operaƟons, the FoundaƟon reachedout once more with another milestone giŌ—for newstrategic growth iniƟaƟves. With our sincere thanks,Perhaps the most visible transformaƟon of the pastyear was the launch of our new brand. We love it andhave heard that you do too! With colours that are hopefuland warm, our new logo reŇects many aspects of HospiceCalgary’s story. The renaming of Sage Centre (formerlythe Counselling & EducaƟon Centre) and new messagingis helping us increase awareness of all of our services. Therebranding arƟcle inside delves into this more. Also this past year, Hospice Calgary parƟcipated ina hospice palliaƟve care accreditaƟon process, led byAccreditaƟon Canada. We embraced this major learningprocess and even had some fun along the way! Theexternal peer review, based on naƟonal standards ofexcellence, was an excepƟonal opportunity for us todeepen our focus on our strategic vision. While we arethrilled with our new accreditaƟon status, even moredelighƞul is all of the wonderful stakeholder feedbackyou gave us.Mike BackusChair, Board of DirectorsSarah WalkerExecuƟve DirectorP.S.
