After 4 years (1999), I became Chief of Cardiac Surgery in Massa,creating a unit that under my leadership became a center of excellence in adult CardiothoracicSurgery with a prestigious international reputation.After 20 years in Massa, I moved to Milan to cover the position of Director of the CardiovascularDepartment at the Humanitas Research Hospital. Thereafter at the helm I was asked to take upthe position of Director of Cardiac Surgery at the Cardiothoracic Center Sant Ambrogio researchhospital in Milan.In addition to performing over 10 000 cardiac procedures, I have a keen interest in surgicalresearch and have published over 200 peer-reviewed articles.
