This catalog is the result of the dedication of the members of the MCPO andothers to provide quality training and education to the honorable men and women of lawenforcement.The range of course offerings addresses the training needs of police personnel who areequipped with varying degrees of experience and skill. The catalog provides a wide varietyof courses in such areas as tactical skills, investigative techniques, ethics, and interrogationand interview procedures.With multiple classrooms outfitted with high-tech audio-visual equipment, a Law EnforcementTrainer (Firearms Training Simulator), ample parking, and a central New Jersey location, theMiddlesex County Police Training Center is the optimal location to provide quality classroomtraining to law enforcement. Furthermore, the Middlesex County Police Range is locatednearby. In addition to providing valuable hands-on firearms training, the range has on-sitetemperature-controlled trailers which can be used for classroom instruction throughout theyear.We are grateful to the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Commissioners for their continuedfinancial support which allows us to offer state-of-the-art training opportunities taught byexperienced and knowledgeable instructors. It is suggested that attendees arrive minimally 15 minutes prior to any scheduledtraining.DRESS CODEProper attire for all attendees is either a department uniform or minimally collared shirt anddress slacks/trousers. Dress may be modified according to class requirements as indicated onthe specific course description or the instructor’s guidance on the first day of a multi-daytraining program. DCJ METHODS OF INSTRUCTIONThis class is a Police Training Commission approved course designed for officerswho plan to teach at commission approved police academies and/or in theirrespective departments. EDR USE IN TRAFFIC CRASH RECONSTRUCTIONThis course will teach you how to analyze any event data recorder (EDR) data you encounter,regardless of the manufacturer. You will also learn how to analyze the EDR data which has beencollected with any imaging tools, including propriety manufacturer tools, as well as from futurevehicles not yet released.We will teach you how to use EDR data with roadway evidence calculations to yield a completereconstruction considering all available evidence. Simple checklists and guides will be provided toimprove your consistency and accuracy. TACTICAL HANDGUN TRAININGThis three-day course offers the opportunity to enhance shooting skills andto focus on the dynamic tactical utilization of the handgun for all LawEnforcement Officers. This is an intense three days of hands-on training atthe Middlesex County Firearms Range, learning: shooting techniques,building confidence and developing tactical shooting skills. Participantsmust be certified to carry the weapon they use, and they must provide theirown ammunition. BASIC CRASH INVESTIGATIONS***formerly Crash 1 InvestigationBasic Crash Investigation is the first or at-scene course that teachesthe student the proper techniques for recognizing and properlyrecording collision results on roadways and gathering criticalevidence that may be used to reconstruct a crash at a later date.The police officer will learn how to take measurements, sketches,after crash diagrams and to systematically photograph the vehiclesand scene. INTRODUCTION TO PATROL RIFLEThis four-day course will teach students patrol rifle nomenclature, care andcleaning, zeroing of optics and iron sights, ballistics, and ammo selection.Various live fire drills will be conducted including shooting while moving,alternate shooting positions, proper use of cover, support side shooting,utilizing a hand held light with a long gun, reloading drills, malfunctionclearing and transitions to a secondary weapon.
