Introduction to Remedial MassageWhy Study Remedial Massage(Health & Wellness Program)?The Health & Wellness Program is our core Remedial Massage course. It is themost cost-effective way to enter the massage industry and become a nationallyaccredited Remedial Massage Therapist. However, the course does not includethe same advanced skills and techniques as our Advanced Rehab or SportsTherapy programs. The course is also delivered through E-Classrooms, which isonline learning, but on-site from a Q Academy classroom. This means you willhave access to a course coach to ask questions, as well as peers to practice on.But please note, this is not traditional on-campus classroom learning.The subjects included in the Health & Wellness Program have been selected to suitstudents interested in pursuing a career in the wellness space, working in spas orclinics, or establishing their own at-home business. The course covers Swedish &Pregnancy Massage, Trigger Point and Thermotherapy, Myofascial & PositionalRelease Techniques, and modalities such as Reflexology, Seated Massage, SportsMassage as well as offer nutrition advice, manual lymphatic drainage and injuryprevention screening. Student ClinicClinical PracticeIndustry Exposure and External EventsAs part of the requirements for the HLT52015Diploma of Remedial Massage (Health and WellnessProgram), you will need to complete a minimum 200hours of clinical practice. The course schedule hasbeen designed so the hours are evenly distributedover the duration of the program - giving you frequentand consistent practice treating a variety of clients.With Q Academy continually developing excitinginitiatives and partnerships in the wider community,you may be given exposure and experience treatingat external events. This would be part of your clinicplacement hours, and organised and supervisedby your course coaches. This can include sporting,community, corporate events and industry expos.To facilitate student learning and practice,Q Academy has established a student clinic which isopen to the public. Under the supervision of a coursecoach, students are given extensive experiencein managing a clinic and treating clients in aprofessional setting.Recent Q Academy students have had the opportunityto support AFL Queensland by offering weekly sportsmassage sessions on game nights, right beside all theon-field action.Please note that the days, hours and location of yourclinical practice is subject to availability. To reflectindustry practice, our student clinic is open weekdaysand weekends, both daytime and evening sessions.Students have also been involved in providingtreatments at community and corporate events withNAB Bank, Crossfit, Ultimate Frisbee and MentalHealth Week.At the start of each term you can select your preferredclinic hours, to fit around your work and familycommitments.
