We must provide a slot for any scenery that protrudes D.S. of theProscenium. When designing scenery D.S. of the Proscenium, it is essential that the scenery does notinterfere with the ability of the 1st, 5th or 6th Front of House lighting trusses and theircompanion focus tracks to come in for focus and maintenance calls. Please also note the speaker positions that are embedded in the Proscenium Arch. These arethe Main Proscenium Speaker Positions, and they should not be blocked by scenery Please note the perimeter of grey rectangles on the stage floor. These are floor pockets forcircuits that the electrics department may need to access. Please be aware of them as youdesign the set. The Apron is a hydraulic lift that can be raised and lowered to accommodate the design asnecessary. If you are thinking about placing the set U.S. of the proscenium, please note thatPage 1 of 9

we can, and often do, add rows of seats into the pit area. There are two on the G.P. and theSection, as this is what we typically add. We can put in three rows, but the sight lines usuallymake this choice unfavorable. If we drop the pit and add the pit seats, we must maintain a distance of 3’-8” between theedge of the first row of seats and the D.S. edge of the set. The panels on the S.L. and S.R. Apron are removable as per the needs of the design. Pleasenote that the further into the house we remove panels, the worse the sightlines get. On the “Full Ground Plan” you will see that there are a number of lines that are not shownon the “Working Ground Plan”. The items represented by these lines are as follows:o A full outline of the trap room (at –17’ below the stage floor) and the beamsthat support the removable trap plugs.o An outline on the permanent sound clouds and the ceiling holes through whichthe rigging for the aforementioned FOH lighting trusses run. The soundclouds are hard, but not weight bearing. Therefore any rigging D.S. of theproscenium must be rigged through these ceiling holes. We can and haverigged D.S. of the proscenium, but it is very difficult. The sound clouds and ceiling holes are more clearly depicted in thesection. There are three permanent sound positions in the theatre. One is the center cluster that islocated on the center line just D.S. of Focus Track #1. The other two are just off of theProscenium opening and are in the Proscenium arch. Please be aware of them if you aredesigning D.S. of the Proscenium, as these positions are vital to any sound designer whocomes into our space. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at:Victor W.
