Notes:These plans are designed to go with the instructional YouTubevideo which shows the assembly/building process as well as thetemplates that can be purchased on my website. Whether youpurchased the tall or short design, the process is the same until youget to the step of attaching the bottom and back support.Material List:QuantityItemNotes61”x6”x8’ BoardChoose your own material. I chose Cedar.SomeWood GlueChoose exterior rated glue if chair will liveoutside.1 Box1-1/2” Wood Screws.Choose exterior rated screws if chair will liveoutside.23” x 1/4-20 Carriage Bolt.21/4” Flat Washer21/4” Nylon Lock NutCopyright 2019 Wilker Do’s, LLC1 of 12

CutlistOne chair Can be created from 6 1”x6”x8’ boards.I recommend starting off by breakingdown each 1x6 into the sizes shownhere to make handling each pieceeasier.Copyright 2019 Wilker Do’s, LLC2 of 12

Once all of your 1x6 material isrough cut to the dimensions above, secure a template piece to thecorresponding rough cut 1x6 andflush cut your board to yourtemplate. The template piece willallow you to precisely recreate eachpiece.Copyright 2019 Wilker Do’s, LLC3 of 12

After cutting the material using the templates, begin the build byassembling each side of the chair. Pay special attention to theorientation of the material for each side. The long uprights (shownin purple) need to be on the inside of the assembly.Left InsideCopyright 2019 Wilker Do’s, LLCRight Outside4 of 12

With the side assemblies correctly sorted, secure the inner andouter components together using a brad nailer and wood glue. Irecommend clamping the pieces together as the wood dries.Copyright 2019 Wilker Do’s, LLC5 of 12

Now begin assembling the seatcomponents. Join the back to thebottom using wood glue and two1-1/4” wood screws. The back needs to be aligned to thebottom as shown to the right.Copyright 2019 Wilker Do’s, LLC6 of 12

Create the seat slats by ripping down the slatmaterial to the dimensions shown. Round-over thetop two edges as shown using a router with a 1/2”round over bit. There are 24 slats total.Copyright 2019 Wilker Do’s, LLC7 of 12

Secure the slats to to the back andbottom assembly using wood glue and(2) 1-1/4” screws for each slat. Theslats are spaced apart 3/8” which isbest controlled by cutting two 3/8”wide scraps and using one on eachside as you build out the chair.Keep the sides of the seatparallel to one another asyou populate the slats.Copyright 2019 Wilker Do’s, LLC8 of 12

Mark the side assemblies in the location shown then clamp the seatassembly to the side assemblies. The slat or (slats) directly inline with the top of the side assemblieswill need to be cut flush to outside of the back pieces in order toallow clearance for the arm rest as shown to the right.Copyright 2019 Wilker Do’s, LLC9 of 12

Once there is clearance for the arm, and you are satisfied the seatassembly is located correctly according to the dimensions on theprevious page, then you canbegin securing the the two sideassemblies to the seatassembly.I chose to use (2) 1/2” dowelsand wood glue at all 4 jointswhen securing the seat to theside assemblies. However, youcan use glue and wood screws.Copyright 2019 Wilker Do’s, LLC10 of 12

The arm rest is the last piece of the project and gets secured to theback piece using wood glue and (1) 3” x 1/4-20 carriage bolt, flatwasher, and nylon lock nut.The upright gets attached to the arm rest using wood glue and (2)1-1/4” wood screws.Copyright 2019 Wilker Do’s, LLC11 of 12
