Thermo King Electronic Parts Catalog (TK EPC)The TK EPC application allows you to search for and view part information from ThermoKing parts catalogs. From searches and viewing grid details you can view an image of thegrid, generate Pick Lists and manage notes concerning the selected grid.Search for and View Model and Part InformationThe search function of TK EPC mimics a catalog, with model being books and grids beingchapters. Search filters on the search screen allow you to narrow your search.1. Select the neededsearch parameter(model name, partnumber, etc.) byclicking the radiobutton to the left of theparameter.2. Type the searchcriteria into the searchfield.Search criteria mustmatch TK EPCnomenclature,including hyphens. Allsearches are wild cardenabled, so using awild-card character (*)is not necessary.Notice that all parameters require a certain number of characters to complete a search(stated in red beneath the search field). Your search results will be narrower if you usemore characters. The ‘Search’ button will remain disabled until you enter the minimumnumber of required characters.NOTE: The Search page allows you to view your Pick Lists, or personalized lists ofThermo King parts. To access, navigate to the top right of the screen and click the PickList icon (). Refer to the ‘To access existing Pick Lists’ section for more information.NOTE: Dealer users who log in through iService can set up customer users through the‘Register a Customer Link’ on the initial search screen. This link is located in the top rightof the screen. Refer to the ‘Thermo King Customer Registration FAQs (for Dealers withiService Accounts ONLY)’ section for more information.3. Click ‘Search’ or tap your ‘Enter’ key to execute a search. The search results screendisplays, populated with models and grids related to your search parameters. Refer tothe image below for panel information.TK EPC User Guide2

The search results screen displays results at the model and grid level that relate to thesearch parameter. Some parameters access different levels or require added steps. Referto the table below for more information.‘BOM’ number searchDouble-click the model/unit name in the searchresults screen’s Model Panel to pull up the grids(where the BOM number is embedded).‘Part Number’ or ‘PartName’ searchAny parts matching the search parameter will beselected on the Grid Details screen (discussed insteps 5-7). Parts are tied to particular grids.NOTE: There are three results for a partnumber search:(1) Part available in current catalog: Thesearch will pull up the grid for that part.(2) Part NOT available in current catalog: Youwill receive an invalid search.(3) Part superseded: The application will pullthe latest part number and display all gridscontaining the latest and superseded part.‘Cross Ref. Number’searchThe application will pull up the Thermo King partnumber associated with the cross referencenumber. To access the search results screen:i. Click the linked part number (Aftermarket PartNo.) in the ‘Part No.’ column.TK EPC User Guide3

ii. A part number search automatically takes place.NOTE: There are three results for a partnumber search:(1) Part available in current catalog: Thesearch will pull up the grid for that part.(2) Part NOT available in current catalog: Youwill receive an invalid search.(3) Part superseded: The application will pullthe latest part number and display all gridscontaining the latest and superseded part.4. Perform any required operations on the search results screen. Options include: Narrow the information in the Model and Grid Panels Refresh the models listed on the selected grids Display a preview View associated read-only notesNOTE: The information below refers to specific features available on the search resultsscreen. The process, including accessing grid details, is continued with steps 5-7.To narrow information in the Model and Grid Panels:i.On the searchresults screen,navigate to thetextbox areasunder the Modelor Gridheadings (in theModel or GridPanels,respectively).ii. Click the radio button to select the needed filter (‘Part Number’ or ‘PartName’).iii. Enter the information to filter by into the textbox under the Model or Gridheading. The filter is based on the information displayed in the Model andGrid Panels.NOTE: The ‘Part Number’ field does not allow partial searches andrequires the entry of the full/exact part number. The ‘Part Name’field allows partial searches.iv. Click the Go button. The Model or Grid Panels display the filtered results.TK EPC User Guide4

NOTE: Any parts matching the filter information will be moved to thetop of the Part List area on the Grid Details screen. This action onlyoccurs when filtering through the Grid Panel.To refresh the models listed based on a selected grid:i.On the searchresults screen,single-click agrid in the GridPanel. Theselected gridwill highlightblue.ii. Themodels/unitsdisplayed in theModel Panelrefresh,showing a‘where used’ listfor the grid.NOTE: You can also refresh the grids displayed based on a selectedmodel or unit (in the Model Panel). Single-click a model or unit in theModel Panel, and the Grid Panel will repopulate with all grids used in orassociated with the selected model or unit. This action updates therelationship among grid, model/unit and the original search results.To display the Preview Panel:On the search results screen, click the needed grid in the Grid Panel. ThePreview Panel (at right) displays the image associated with the grid.TK EPC User Guide5

To view associated read-only notes (if available):In the Notes Panelon the searchresults screen,hover over the notetext. A mouseoverdisplays the fullnote.NOTE: Public notes() are read only,and they cannot bechanged, deleted orinserted by the EPCuser. Stickies ()are user-specificand are only shownto the userID thatgenerated theSticky.View Grid Detail InformationNOTE: The Grid Details is screen is only accessed following a completed search, detailed insteps 1-4.5. Double-click the needed grid in the Grid Panel, or click the image in the Preview Panelon the search results screen to access the Grid Details screen.6. The Grid Details screen displays. NOTE: If you searched with the‘Part Name’ or ‘Part Number’parameter, then those partsmatching the criteria will beselected in the Part List Paneland moved to the top of the list.This action also occurs if younarrow the information in theGrid Panels by part name orpart number. Refer to the ‘Tonarrow information in the Modeland Grid Panels’ for moreinformation.7. Perform any needed or required options on this screen. Options include: Re-launch the search feature Export a part list to PDF Navigate among grids Access supersede information Generate a new Pick List Add to an existing Pick List Access existing Pick Lists Adjust the image view Print part information Utilize public notes (access and print) Utilize Stickies (access, manage and print)TK EPC User Guide7

To re-launch the search feature:NOTE: This feature is available on both the search results screenand Grid Details screen.i.Tap the ‘Backspace’ key at any time during an EPC session to return tothe initial search screen.NOTE: If you are on the search results screen, click the search icon() in the top right of the screen. The search area displays in thecenter of the screen.ii. Use the radiobuttons toselect theappropriateparameter in thesearch dialogbox. Entersearchinformation intothe search field.Notice that all parameters require a certain number of characters tocomplete a search. Most requirements are stated in red beneath thesearch field.iii. Click ‘Search’or tap your‘Enter’ key toexecute asearch. Thesearch resultsscreen willrepopulate withnew searchinformation.(Clicking ‘Cancel’ or the X-icon will close the feature.)TK EPC User Guide8

To export a part list to PDF:i.In the Part ListPanel on theGrid Detailsscreen, selectthe neededparts using thecheckboxes tothe left of thepart(s).NOTE: Ifneeded, clickthe checkbox inthe top left (tothe left of the‘Ref’ header) toselect all partsin the Part ListPanel.ii. Once selected, click the Export to PDF icon (of the Part List Panel.) located in the top rightiii. Your PDF viewer opens, displaying the selected part(s).To navigate among grids:NOTE: This feature allows you to navigate among the grids accessedfrom a search without returning to the search results screen to selecteach grid.TK EPC User Guide9

In the header areaabove the Part Listpanel, click the uparrow () toaccess the gridprevious to the gridcurrently displayingon screen. Clickthe down arrow() to access thenext grid from thegrid currentlydisplaying onscreen. Thenavigation order isdetermined by theorder listed in theGrid panel on thesearch resultsscreen.To access supersede information:i.In the Part ListPanel on theGrid Detailsscreen, selectthe SupersedeInformation icon() to the leftof the neededpart number.TK EPC User Guide10

The PartsSuper Sessiondialog boxdisplays andshowssupersedeinformation,including partnumbersreplaced by thecurrent part andthe levelnumber of thatreplacement.NOTE: Level 0 indicates the part selected in the Part List Panel.Level -1 indicates what the selected part has replaced. Level 1indicates what replaces the selected part.To generate a new Pick List:i.In the Part ListPanel on theGrid Detailsscreen, selectthe neededparts using thecheckboxes atleft.NOTE: Ifneeded, clickthe checkbox inthe top left (tothe left of the‘Ref’ header) toselect all partsin the Part ListPanel.ii. The Pick List is now saved.To access existing Pick Lists:NOTE: This feature is available on both the search results screenand Grid Details screen.i.A Pick List is a personalized list of specific parts that can be from acrossdifferent grids. To access Pick Lists, navigate to the Select the Pick Listicon (), located in the top right of the search results screen and the PartList Panel of the Grid Details screen.NOTE: Ensure you do NOT have any parts selected in the Part Listpanel if you are accessing this feature from the Grid Details screen.ii. The Pick List screen displays with Pick List titles on the left and selectedPick List information on the right. (The selected Pick List is highlighted inblue.)NOTE: To delete an entire Pick List, click the checkbox to the left ofthe Pick List title, and click the Delete icon (the screen.) on the left side ofiii. Perform any needed actions on the Pick List.Edit the title andquantity fieldsSave changesDelete unneededpartsExport the list toPDFExit the Pick ListClick in the title and/or quantity fields on the right sideof the screen, and input the new information.Click the Save icon (the screen.) located on the right side ofClick the part’s checkbox, and then click the Deleteicon () on the right side of the screen.Click the Export to PDF icon () in the top right of thescreen to generate a PDF file of the Pick List.Click the X-icon in the top right of the Pick List screen.To adjust the image view in the Illustration Panel:Use the Zoom In (), Zoom Out () and Fit to Width () icons in the topright of the Illustration Panel (on the Grid Details screen) to make onscreenviewing adjustments to the preview image.To print part information:i.TK EPC User GuideClick the Print icon (Grid Details screen).) in the top right of the Illustration Panel (on the14

To utilize Stickies:i.In the NotesPanel on theGrid Detailsscreen, click the‘Stickies’ link.The link will turnblue whenselected.ii. All Stickies(user-specificnotes)associated withthe grid willdisplay in theNotes Panel.Hover overnotes to viewthe completetext in amouseover.iii. Options in this panel include:Add a StickyClick the Add Sticky icon () located in the top rightof the Notes Panel. Enter a new note in the textbox.Click ‘Save’ to save changes, or ‘Cancel’ to close thetextbox.Delete a StickySelect the Sticky or Stickies by clicking the checkboxesto the left. FAQsSearchHow do I access the search screen?A search screen is available upon accessing the TK EPC application. You can tap theBackspace key on the search results or Grid Details screens to re-launch the search. Youcan also re-access the search area during use by navigating to the search results screenand clicking the Search icon () in the top right of the screen.Why is the search button not active?All searches have a 2 to 4 character requirement for searches to help narrow search results.The search button will remain deactivated until the character requirement is met.
