Wewould like this to be a real “workshop” night. Please bring your sewing machine,extension cord and miscellaneous sewing tools. We will provide you with all ofthe things to sew. If you would rather wander around, and observe, that is ok,too . We may just put you to work ironing, or cutting.There will be 5 stations, each showing a different technique, and flyers onsimple block designs to use for making quilts for our Covers for Kids Program.Each station will offer one of a variety of techniques, including string piecing,paper piecing, super simple bowties, and more! These quick techniques can beadapted for your own use, as well. Please plan to come and spend a couple ofhours helping us make quilts for needy children. Minutes for General Meeting:June 4, 2009Pam Hanson, 1st Vice President for Community Service, called the meetingto order at 7:25pm. Rally Day will be at Mimosa Lane Baptist Church inMesquite, July 11 from 10:00-3:00pm. The Guild Store is selling older items ata discount at their table.Committee announcements: Nominating chair Rhonda Anderson stated that postcard ballots will besent in the mail this month not in May. Members may return the postcardby mail or bring it to the July meeting and place it in the ballot box on themembership table. Val Hubbard/Show Chair – Val announced the final profit amount for QuiltCelebration 2009 as, 45,631.00. Quilt Celebration 2010 will be from March12-14. Judy Kriehn announced that the July Meeting would be a Covers for Kidsworkshop. Various members brought quilts for Bring and Brag. Judy Kriehn introduced Marsha Kaylakie, quilt collector, teacher and judge.Ms. Kaylakie has written Texas Quilts & Quiltmakers and is speaking tonighton “Home Sewn: Texas Quilts and Quiltmakers.
