Never take anyone’s word about whether or not a gun isloaded. Always check a gun to see if it is loaded when removedfrom storage or received from another person. Even if you have firedan airgun one or more times and no pellet or BB was expelled fromthe barrel, it does not mean that the magazine of the gun is empty ofammunition. Any airgun can fail to feed for any number of reasons.Continue to treat the airgun as loaded and ready to fire. ALWAYSTREAT A GUN AS IF IT IS LOADED EVEN IF YOU KNOW IT ISN’T.3Only load or cock a gun when you are shooting.A loaded gun has no place in your home orother public place.4Check your target and beyond your target.Be sure all persons are well clearof the target area before you shoot. Check behind and beyond yourtarget to be certain you have a safe backstop and that no person orproperty could be endangered.5Anyone shooting or near a shooter shouldwear shooting glasses. Also, all other persons should remain behind the shooter.6Never climb or jump with a gun.You can’t control the direction of the muzzle if you stumble or fall. You should safely lay the gun down or hand it to a companion whileyou climb or jump over anything.7Avoid ricochet.Never shoot at a flat hard surface or at the surface of water.Ammunition can ricochet off of water just like a skipped rock.8Keep the muzzle clear.Never let anything obstruct the muzzle of a gun. Don’t allow themuzzle to come in contact with the ground.YARDS (198 METRES)9Guns not in use should always be unloaded.Keeping guns unloaded when not in use is critical to the safety ofyou and others. When you are finished shooting, put the triggersafety in the “on” position and unload the gun. Store guns so thatthey are inaccessible to untrained shooters and store ammunitionseparately from the gun.10Respect other people’s property.Whether you’re target shooting or hunting, if you’re a guest on others’ land, you should leave it exactly as you found it.Visit www.daisy.com and read the shootingsafety rules. Take a quiz and get your“Take Aim at Safety” Certificate.23

READ THIS SECTION. It is your responsibility asthe owner of this gun to make certain that anyone using thegun is instructed in its safe and proper operation. As the proud owner of a Daisy air gun, you have becomepart of an American tradition which dates back to the timewhen your great-grandfather was a small boy. Your new Daisygun is the result of more than 100 years experience by Daisyin the manufacture of quality products.Although your new Daisy is not a firearm, it is a gun andshould be treated with care and respect. Always remember, the first and most important safety aspect of any gun is theshooter. All safeties are mechanical devices and the shooteris the only part of the system that can make a gun safe – orunsafe. DON'T DEPEND ON MECHANICAL SAFETIES –think ahead and avoid situations that might lead to accidents.FOR YOUR SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS,READ COMPLETE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS BEFOREATTEMPTING TO SHOOT GUN. Guns differ in their operations and you are never ready to fire any gun until you arethoroughly familiar with it. Read the operating instructionsand WITHOUT LOADING ANY AMMUNITION, proceed several times through the operating steps with your gun (dry firethe gun at a safe target) so that you will be able to operateyour Daisy properly and safely.ADJUSTABLE REAR SIGHTMIRA TRASERA AJUSTABLEVISEUR ARRIERE REGLABLEOIL HOLEORIFICIO PARA ACEITEORIFICE POUR BOCAGUEULEPUMP GRIPCORREDERAPOMPECOCKING LEVERSPALANCA DE AMARTILLADOLEVIERS D’ARMEMENTTRIGGERGATILLODETENTETRIGGER SAFETYSEGURO DEL GATILLOCRAN DE SURETEASafety ON No Red ShowingSeguro activo en "ON" No se ve indicador rojoSûreté Enclenchée Pas de Rouge VisibleNo. 14BSafety OFF Red ShowingSeguro desactivado en "OFF" Se ve indicador rojoSûreté Retirée Rouge Visible5

Even with the manual safety "ON" SAFE, yourgun is in a fully loaded condition and must be handled with care.Never assume the gun is empty. Make sure the gun is alwayspointed in a safe direction.WHAT IS A JAM, AND WHY DOES ITHAPPEN?A jammed gun is one that does not fire a BB when it isloaded, cocked and the trigger is pulled. It is a dangerouscondition which must have immediate and careful attention.Jamming can result from:1. Improper feeding–turning the gun on its side as the muzzleis raised to feed a BB into firing position.2. Reusing shot which has been damaged by hitting a hardsurface.3. Using ammunition not intended for BB gun use.4. Using dirty shot.If you follow the instructions for proper loading and feeding, and if you only use recommended shot, your Daisy willprovide many hours of trouble free, recreational air gunshooting. If the gun does not fire after loading, cocking, andsqueezing the trigger, the gun is jammed.CAUTION: A jam is a dangerous condition which musthave immediate and careful attention. To correct it, keep thegun pointed in a safe direction, cocking and firing the gunthree or four times. If your gun has not cleared, with the gun uncocked, andthe "Safety ON"- No RED Showing (Drawing No. 1A), carefully unscrew and remove the shot tube. (See drawing No. 2)After safely removing the shot tube, you can then cIear theshot tube. (If the gun is empty, simply fill with clean, new BBsand replace the shot tube.) If you are unable to clear the gun, return it to the Daisy Service Department. (See Repair of DaisyGuns section.)UNLOADINGWARNING: EVEN IF YOU HAVE FIRED THE AIRGUNONE OR MORE TIMES AND NO BB WAS EXPELLED, ITDOES NOT MEAN THAT THE GUN IS EMPTY OF BBs.CONTINUE TO TREAT THE AIRGUN AS IF IT IS LOADED.Make certain your gun is not cocked by firing in a safedirection. Put "Safety ON"- No RED Showing (Drawing No. 1A),remove the shot tube (See drawing No. 2), slide the magazinefeed tab forward and dump BBs from the loading hole. Thenslowly return the tab to the bottom position.PROPER CARETo operate properly, your Daisy BB gun requires maintenance. Simple oiling and cleaning are sufficient. Lack ofmaintenance can cause poor performance and could makethe gun unsafe.OILING: To maintain top shooting performance, youshould add two drops of oil in the "oil" hole (See DrawingNo. 1) every 500 to 1000 shots. Also oil trigger, cockingmechanism and other moving parts regularly. Use a "20"weight motor oil. An Introduction toDaisy Airgun ShootingA MESSAGE TO PARENTSAlthough not a firearm, a Daisy airgun is a gun and not atoy. Properly used and maintained, it will provide many hoursof safe, trouble free recreational shooting. Misused, it can bedangerous. Therefore, we recommend it be used only underadult supervision and never by a young person less than tenyears of age. Included in this operation manual are 10Shooting Safety Rules. We urge you to read them with yourchild, practice them and review them often. As the proud owner of a new Daisy gun, your child hasbecome part of an American tradition dating back more than100 years. Mechanically, a new Daisy is backed by nearly acentury of engineering know-how and experience in the manufacture of quality products.Safe gun handling depends upon proper safety training, and instilling in your son or daughter the right attitude towardgun ownership. To help you, we have designed this booklet tocover the basic facts every young person should understandbefore shooting a gun. Take time to study it thoroughly withyour child. A proper understanding of these basics will greatlyincrease your youngster's enjoyment of the lifetime sport ofrecreational air gun shooting and, at the same time, give youthe satisfaction of knowing your child is properly prepared tohandle an air gun.We strongly urge a formal course of instruction inShooting Education for your child. There are a number ofyouth and civic organizations which offer a complete 10-lesson course based on guidelines developed by the trainingexperts at Daisy, and they are listed in the section “Learn toshoot safely” on page 15 of this book. A quick check withthem will let you know when the next course will be startingin your area. If you would like more detailed information, write: Special Market Programs, Daisy, P.O. All three causes can be avoidedif the shooter handles the gun properly. For years we have been teaching the 10 Shooting SafetyRules. Read, remember, practice and review these few simplerules.
