The unique “quad cam” feature provides improved sealing andhigher pressure capabilities on lightwall hose. Unique roller arm cams reduce the effort required toopen and close the coupling and are self-locking in the closed position, resisting opening caused byvibration and other forces. A new, pressure-responsive gasket ensures leak-free service and is interchangeable with traditional washer-type flat gaskets. The nipple slides easily into both mating hosesor hose pieces. External clamps engage into the hose shank on each side and around the respective hose O.D.’s. The integral cam-type locking device permits hose connection without additionalcomponents. The interface dimensions of both the Styles 485 (Male) and 486 (Female) componentsmeet Military Standard 27019 and are compatible with other cam-type locking devices made to thisstandard. Performance meets or exceeds MIL-PRF370H Burst Pressure Requirements.Victaulic Style 403 Coupling is used to join IPDS grooved hose nipples to each other and other components within the Army’s RIFTS. It is rated at 740 psi (same as RIFTS). It features a “stab friendly”,self-centering gasket to spread and ease hose section joining, two ductile iron housings and foursocket head cap screws.
