Within a minute, you should get this dialog boxprompting to save file to a predefined PC location.If you don’t see that message, then click on the “restartthe download” hyperlink like the one below.4

Your computer will save the executable setup file.Double click on this file below to begin the installation.5

Uncheck the 2 boxes above before you proceed.Click on Customize instead of Install to proceed.6

These 2 boxes should be unchecked before proceedingSelect Customize ,not Install7

Let Avast be loaded in the default directory as above.Uncheck the boxes above as the picture shows.Then click on Install to proceed.8

Avast will scan your PC to checkfor viruses, outdated software,and any other upgrades needed.Only need to do this the 1st time.Avast will report on findingsClick on Resolve All toproceed with the fixes.12

This is a typical report –Click on Update for each item to be resolved.13

After each item is separately updated, you will see amessage like above. Do Not bother with other Avastrecommendations like installing Google. Not necessary14

Avast places an Iconon your desktop.Double click icon torun the program.Repeat any time inthe future.Avast opens to display the toolbar above.Click once on upper Scan (magnifying glass)Skip Smart Scan as you already did it.Instead click on Scan for viruses.19

For the 1st scan operation,choose full system scanfrom the drop-down menu.In the future, you can selectQuick scanClick Start20

The Full system scanwill take a whileClick on Startto resolve all Treatsdetected21

Click on Applyto fix, heal, remove all virus threats22

Click on Close to complete this step23

During 1st scan, you can also perform a “boot-time” scan.Helpful for the 1st time. Note that when you click on Yes,your PC will reboot, run thru a DOS like display to scan theBoot file & eventually return to the Windows desktop.24

When Avast opens, Click once on the upperScan. Click on Scan for viruses, choose QuickScan & Start.In the future, justDouble click onthis icon to runthe program.25

After the quicker scan, you can choose Apply toremove any threats,or just close the program when no threats are found.26
