Brief History (cont.)At 0950 on September 11th theFederal team and all of theirequipment were alerted to deploy toNYC.At 1015 RI EMA call to ask if theteam should be considered a federalor state asset.EMA was advised that the team andits cache had been deployed.

Moving ForwardAn inspired RI DoH realizes thatHospital Preparedness Programdollars can be dedicated to buildingan in-state capability for mobilemedical assets.The DMAT team, now a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization, was a logicalchoice to fill a new role.

How It WorksRI DoH contracts with RI DMAT (thenon-profit) for Mobile MedicalAssets, utilizing HPP funding to buildand maintain the capability toestablish a Disaster Field Hospital.Deliverable based contracts enabledthe team the flexibility to buy andconfigure the cache based upon theirneeds & experience.
