Create clasp by looping the end of orangewire with the tip of a pair round nose plierswhile still on the spool, this should be a smalldecorative loop. Round the wire over yourindex finger and back around, the wire shouldbe approximately 1”. Clip off excess wire andmake a larger loop at the end with your fingers.Bend this so that it is at a 90 degree angle fromthe first loop and push the loop up on an anglewith your fingers to create a hook style clasp. You can also opt to use a pre-made clasp!3.) Start from the center of the design and workout in both directions alternating from side toside. This helps maintain the pattern.4.) Thread two pink jump rings through twoorange jump rings. Secure them closed withyour chain nose pliers. Thread two more pinkjump rings on both orange rings and secureclosed. Thread two mint rings on each pair ofpink jump rings and secure closed with yourpliers. 12 Free Jewelry Projects to Make This EveningMetal Charm NecklaceBy: Randi from Studio Dax2.) Hold the punch firmly in place, and hammerit on the disc, into the valley, forming the metal(repeat to get a good crease).Love working with metal, but don’t have to timeto commit to soldering? Make some gorgeousmetal jewelry with this quick stamping andshaping project!3.) Remove the punch, and flatten the discedges using a wood or rawhide mallet. If youdon’t have a mallet, lay a piece of leather overthe disc, and use the hammer.Materials: Sponge block and green scrubby to cleanthe disc A spring-loaded center punch A forming block A twist hole punch A hammer and a mallet Some punches (shown are a transfer punch,a nail, and a doming punch) Metal disc for the pendant – for this projectuses a 15/16 inch diameter circle in 24gcopper. Please note that 24g – 26g workswell with this tool.Instructions:1.) Clean the disc with the sanding block orgreen scrubby and place it over one of thevalleys in the forming block, laying a punch overit. If you don’t have a doming punch, you canuse a regular steel nail, as long as it fits easilyinto the valley.4.) Make a hole in the disc using a twist holepuncher or a drill. If you don’t have a holepuncher or a drill, you can lay the disc on ablock of wood, and hammer a sharp nail intothe disc. This can cause the disc to warp, so youwill need to flatten it out.Find hundreds of free projects, tips, tutorials and more at www.AllFreeBeadedJewelry.com.7

12 Free Jewelry Projects to Make This Evening5.) Lay the disc onto the forming block, layingthe crease into a valley, as shown. Use thecenter punch to create a pattern (you can markthe pattern on the disc with a Sharpie). Onemethod is to file the tip of your punch, andpunch on the BACK, so that the pattern is inrelief on the front, but you can create thepattern however you like. If you don’t have aspring-loaded center punch, you can hammerthe pattern with a regular center punch or nail.6.) Add a bail (a simple jump ring will do), andantique/buff to highlight the details, and voila! You have a cool metal formed pendant!Find hundreds of free projects, tips, tutorials and more at www.AllFreeBeadedJewelry.com.8

12 Free Jewelry Projects to Make This EveningStash Buster Multi Strand BeadNecklaceBy: Dora Moreland from Show, Tell, ShareDo you have a lot of beads leftover from someold projects? Well here’s a quick and prettysolution! Make a chunky multi strand necklaceto add a little flare to your outfit.Materials: Preferred stringing material (wire, stretchcord, or thread) Assorted beads Clasp 2 eye pins 1 set of bead cones 2 jump ringsInstructions:1.) First, attach your stringing material to one ofyour jump rings.3.) Once all the strands are strung with beadsand secured at both ends to the jump rings, attach the eye pins to each closed jump ring.Since I had large holes on my bead cone, Ineeded to add a bead to the eye pins, before Icould put the eye pin through the bottom of thebead cone. I added another bead at the top, fordesign purposes.4.) Then attach the eye pins to the clasp bybending the eye pin right above the black beadsand forming a loop, then wrapped the little tailaround the eye pin under the loop.2.) Then start stringing beads on the first strand.Once you get to the desired length, attach thestrand to the second jump ring. Repeat this forall the strands.Find hundreds of free projects, tips, tutorials and more at www.AllFreeBeadedJewelry.com.9

12 Free Jewelry Projects to Make This EveningEarringsMica EarringsBy: OrnamenteaMica is a great material to use for jewelrymaking because it is so light-weight, but stillsuch a statement. You can make big stand-outearrings without having them weight down yourearlobes. These pretty earrings make a lighttinkling sound when the chain brushes againstthe mica.Materials: 1 packet of mica 8 brass eyelets 1 pair antique brass simple loop ear wires Assorted chain, cut into 2 -2 inch pieces and2-1.5 inch pieces 2 antique copper jump rings, 14 mm Optional: Diamond Glaze to seal edgesof the mica 1/8th inch hole punch Awl Ball pein hammer Eyelet setter Self-healing cutting matInstructions:1.) Your packet of mica will contain severalpieces that could be just right for earrings as-is,but you may wish to cut the pieces if they aretoo large for your tastes. A sharp craft knife willslice through a sheet of mica. Drag the knifeacross the surface slowly to cut through onelayer at a time. Be patient, this takes a while.2.) Once you have a piece of mica in the shapeyou want you will need to split it into twoidentical pieces. Fit the tip of your craft knife inbetween the layers of mica and gently split thelayers by twisting the knife sideways until youhave two pieces. If the edges of the mica seemlike they will continue to split you can put a thinlayer of Diamond Glaze on the edge with apaintbrush or your fingertip. Allow the glaze todry at least 20 minutes before continuing.3.) Lay your mica shapes next to each other anddecide where you want the eyelets. You maywish to mark the spots with a pen. Place theholes at least 1/4 inch (1/2cm) from the micaedges to make sure they don’t pull throughlater.4.) Place the hole punch over the mica whereyou want the hole. Use the hammer to tap thepunch through the mica layers. Be patient. YouFind hundreds of free projects, tips, tutorials and more at www.AllFreeBeadedJewelry.com.10

12 Free Jewelry Projects to Make This Eveningmay wish to remove the chipped mica thataccumulates in the hole you are punching withan awl or toothpick.5.) Thread an eyelet through the hole in themica. Place the Flowered Setter over the eyeletand line it up straight. Use the hammer togently tap the Setter until the eyelet splits andbegins to curve outwards. Continue until theeyelet is flat against the mica. It is important tohold the setter perpendicular to the eyelet andtap the hammer gently to prevent the eyeletfrom bending or folding.6.) Repeat these steps to set remaining eyelets.Remember that your eyelets will look hand set,not perfect. Note that in the earrings pictured Iset some eyelets from the “front” of theearrings and some from the “back” so that theeyelet flowers show in both directions.7.) Lay out your pieces of mica and determinewhere the top and bottoms of your earrings willbe. Lay the chain out where you want it tohang. Use your chain nose pliers to gently opena jump ring. Thread the jump ring through thehole at the top of one of the pieces of mica andthrough both pieces of chain and the loop onthe ear wire. Close securely. Repeat withremaining mica and findings to make secondearring.Find hundreds of free projects, tips, tutorials and more at www.AllFreeBeadedJewelry.com.11

12 Free Jewelry Projects to Make This EveningSparkle and Dangle EarringsBy: Erban StudiosWhen jewelry making with beads, you canalways create just the perfect piece of jewelrylike these Sparkle and Dangle Earrings. Pick outsome pretty beads you have laying around andyou'll soon have the perfect pair of partyearrings.Materials: Beads, crystals, anything you think will lookpretty. You will need a mix of sizes, at leasttwo a bit larger than the rest of the onesyou choose. One headpin for every bead A few jump rings 2 earwires 2 pieces of chain, about an inch per earring Pliers: round nose pliers, close cuttingpliers, and flat nose pliersInstructions:1.) Cut two pieces of the chain, some chains willnot be soldered shut, so you can easily pry thelinks open at the seam, others will take a bit ofelbow grease to cut. You can count links tomake sure you get the same length chains foreach earring; in this case it was 10 links perearring.3.) Grab your round nose pliers and place themjust a bit above the top of the bead. A fewmillimeters will do.4.) Holding the tip of the headpin, bend it overthe round nose pliers. You want to manipulatethe head pin while keeping the bead/plierssteady.5.) Continue bending the headpin until you’vemade your way under the pliers, making a littleloop.2.) Start off with the larger of the beads; thiswill be the bottom bead on the earring. Place iton the head pin.Find hundreds of free projects, tips, tutorials and more at www.AllFreeBeadedJewelry.com.12

12 Free Jewelry Projects to Make This Evening6.) This is what your look should look like. Now,you want to open the loop up a bit so you canslide the last link of the chain onto it.7.) This is what the chain with looped headpinand bead will look like. The little imperfectionsdisappear once the earring is finished.10.) Get the close cutter and cut the excess wireas close as you can to the wrapped part.11.) Repeat this process for the entire chain, even the top link. Add one bead per link. Makesure to add the beads to both earrings in thesame order.8.) With the round nose pliers in your nondominant hand, grab the very end of the headpin with the flat nose pliers. Use your otherhand to wrap the wire around the base of theheadpin.12.) Open a jump ring, slide on the top link ofthe chain and the ear wire. Close the jump ring.Voila! That’s all.9.) Wrap the excess wire around the base of theloop, above the bead. This may take a bit offorce, don’t be afraid to pull on the wire whilelooping around. Holding the head pin as close toedge as possible will give you more leverageand create a tighter coil. For this reason, 1.5 – 2inch headpins are useful.Find hundreds of free projects, tips, tutorials and more at www.AllFreeBeadedJewelry.com.13
