United States Naval Academy BandTrumpet Audition - 15 July 2015Deadline for materials – 6 July 2015This audition is for a versatile trumpet player to perform in Jazz Combo, Second-LineBand, Ceremonial Band, Marching Band, and Brass Quintet. A strong jazzimprovisational background is required. In addition, candidates must demonstrate solidclassical fundamentals.The audition will consist of improvisation, prepared material, and sight-reading withensembles of various sizes and styles. Most of the prepared materials are containedwithin the included packet. In addition to the included materials, candidates are expectedto prepare a ballad of their choosing as well as the tune When the Saints Go MarchingIn, either of which can be found in a variety of jazz fake books. Please review theincluded materials carefully as some minor differences may exist between these and anypersonal versions of these materials you may already have.
