Attaching the Hand Strap Installing the BatteriesTwo AA-size batteries are supplied with the product. For a detailed guidelineon battery usage, please see “Using Your Batteries” on page 107.1. Connecting the AC Adapter (Optional)Turn off the camera before connecting ordisconnecting the adapter. Connect theplug to the camera as shown and connectthe adapter to the household power outlet.The camera automatically switches overto AC adapter powered operation. The ACadapter can be used with or without thebattery in place.IMPORTANT!We recommend the user to use the AC adapter (optional, 3.3V/2.0A) to powerthe camera whenever connected to a computer. 3 Taking PicturesBefore you take pictures, please read this note first:NOTE:Never remove the batteries, disconnect the AC adapter from the camera, orunplug the adapter while a picture is being saved. Doing so will prevent thecurrent picture from being saved and may corrupt other pictures already storedon the camera’s internal memory or a memory card. The flash firesmultiple times before shooting to reduce red-eyephenomenon.Flash OnThe flash fires for every picture. Use this settingin high-contrast situations to provide fill-light oruse it indoors in low light.slow syncThe flash fires regardless of the surroundingbrightness. In low light conditions, slow shutterspeed provides better lighting of the backgroundthat is out of range of the flash.Flash OffThe flash does not fire. Use this setting foroutdoor pictures or where flash is prohibitedor may be distracting. Also use when shootingtoward a reflective surface, such as a windowor mirror. If you do not have enough lightwhen using this setting, your pictures will betoo dark.NOTE: Flash modes are only used in still image shooting. Setting Self-timerYour camera is designed with a self timer function which will allow you totake pictures with a count down of 2 or 10 seconds.1. Set the camera to Still Image mode.2. Zoom FeatureThere are two types of zoom in this camera: optical zoom and digitalzoom. Optical zoom alters the focal distance of the lens zoom, and itsfactor range is 1X to 3X. Digital zoom is activated after you reach themaximum optical zoom (3X). It enlarges the part of the image at the centreof the image screen. Digital zoom factor range is 1X to 4X. These zoomfeatures let you zoom in the central area of an image and photograph onlythe enlarged portion of the picture.NOTE: Using the digital zoom may cause a decrease in image quality.
