Meets Targ and Puthoff. They suggest he replicate RVexperiments. Succeeds at replicating RV experiments. PK and parapsychology research done on his own time as independent researcher. 1980 - writes and publishes conceptual model of parapsychology. Includes RV, PK,and other paranormal phenomena. I will go over that model later. After 5 years of RV research, McDonnell Douglass funded his visits to variousparapsychology labs to talk about his research. He starts the PK Parties(Spoonbending parties) in 1981 in response to challenge from ParapsychologistCharles Honorton to test his conceptual model. (Party atmosphere would enhancethe peak-emotional/time-shift component of his theory.)

Partners with Severin Dahlen, a metallurgist who was getting metal bending PKresults. First party is a success. 1981. 1981-2003, does 370 parties, 17,000 clients, collecting data and publishing it alongthe way. Other researchers do same, not all are scientific. Probably in the thousands by now. During his time, Wilber Franklin, Elizabeth Rauscher, Bill Bise, Bill Tiller, JulianIsaacs, and John Hasted continue PK research and publishing results.Conceptual Model Brain collects information from an internal source - body sensors – eyes, ears, tongue, nose, skin and nerves. Mind collects information from external sources – sight, sound, taste, smell andfeeling. Mind is not just local to human body. Information about events in all space and time is stored all around us. The mindaccesses this information storage system. It is not known where this information is stored. Our human senses only perceive avery small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. Information storage may notnecessarily even be in the known electromagnetic spectrum. The mind can tune into any information in this storage system when given specificinstructions about space and time. No instruments other than this mind-brain complex have been able to measure ordirectly contact this external information storage system. The external signals in space-time seem to enter the brain and be processed by thecorresponding physical sensory cortices, as if the cortices were unaware of whetherthe signals emanated from the body sensors or the source external to the body. The brain processes information like a very advanced computer would from bothour physical senses and from this stored information. The computer analogy can be used for most brain functions. Brain takesinformation from both the physical body sensors and the external informationstorage system, processes it to produce what we perceive as senses, and addsadditional processing in the form of thinking, analyzing, comparing, and reacting. The output then goes into the information storage system (i.e., memory) and reportsthe information out in the form of speech, writing, muscle movements, and so on. A Space Time Unit (STU) is represented as a sphere with information about allspace time, past, present and future. A plane passing through it is a unit of timespace. And your experience of that plane is your personal world line. Planesskewed at different angles to ours could represent UFO’s or other dimensionalbeings. Paranormal Phenomena classified as: ESP is Passive: Remote Viewing, BodyScanning, Telepathy, Mind-Reading, Out-of-Body Experiences. PK is Active:

Material Deformation, Mental Healing, Telekinesis, Affecting Random Processes,Remote Effects like Telekinesis. One thinks of emotions as applied to humans and animals. However, emotionalintensity applies to all things, including inanimate objects. In RV, a target is most easily viewed at the time it experienced (or will experience)its most intense emotional state, called a peak emotional event. This may not be inthe present, thus there is a “time-shift” phenomenon observed with RV, where thetarget may be viewed at a time that is different than the present, unless the viewer isotherwise instructed.Houck suggested that if people could make the emotional peak in the presentmoment larger than any other emotion on the object’s world line in the past orfuture, then the mind will lock on to present to cause a paranormal event to happen. That is how he had the idea for the PK Party. On the basis of early experience with RV, PK (which is mind interacting withmatter) could also be better controlled by creating the proper environment by 1.Creating a peak, emotionally intense situation, 2. Having the individual connect hismind with the object to be affected (as in RV) and 3. Commanding it to do his or herwill.Interestingly, the actual energy required by the person to connect his/her mind to theobject and command it to bend is very small. The real energy for PK is providedlocally. In the case of metal, the dislocations provide the heating along the grainboundaries, which allows the grains to slip. Will define later. The amazing thing is that the PK operator does not have to specify where the energyis to come from. The "system" provides that energy.Extra RV is properly called Remote Perception, because all sensory data may be accessedat a distance, not just vision. Houck chose to keep linear time and argued that the mind is capable of scanningthroughout time, locking on to information at or near peak emotional events, muchlike a radio that scans in frequency, locks onto the peak signals (radio station), andplays out the information through its speakers. When the environment is carefully controlled (i.e., a nearly sensory free, dimly litroom with no pictures on the wall, no unusual smells, and no noise), anyone canexperience RV with the aid of a skillful interviewer. The interviewer is responsiblefor doing the analytical thinking. He asks questions that allow the remote viewer tobe open to perceive the information from all the senses. The interviewer must be supportive of and have some rapport with the remoteviewer. RV- 1) the signal from the physical body sensors must be greatly reduced (sensorydeprivation, access slow senses like smell, taste and touch 2) the signal from theinformation storage system must be maximized (focused attention), and 3) the

background noise must be minimized by reducing as much of the brain processingactivity as possible (let interviewer be the thinker).Smell, taste, and touch seem to have slow discrimination rates (e.g., relatively longtime to distinguish one smell from another)If the remote viewer continues to analyze the information, the information willbecome distorted by information from his "world line" or memory.External signals from an individual's own world line are stronger than the signalsfrom other information in the information system. An individual human consciousness exists within a smaller sphere. With focusedattention, one can access any information in the macrosphere, not limited by spaceor time. Higher consciousness can expand that personal worldline or sphere, untilit reaches the surface of the macro-ellipsoid which encompasses all space time, andis therefore beyond it.RV results are filed into the information storage system, defined as the space-timeunit (STU). This filing would be the brain activity analogous to the activity of atransmitter. To explain RV, Elizabeth Rauscher devised an eight-dimensional space-time modelusing complex geometry to provide a mathematical formulation for the connectivitybetween world lines. The key is another dimension orthogonal to the space and timedimensions that is proportional to emotional intensity. All minds participate in a consensus reality. When an individual wants to access amemory, his mind searches back through the individual's world line in the STU tosense that information. His external sensors acquire that information, which hesenses in his head, much like a hologram, with the data being processed. All sensoryinformation from that memory can be accessed. When looking into the future, the mind again accesses an event usually at a timenear an emotional peak. The wave function for that time and place contains thelikelihood for all the possible events based on all the information in the STU at thecurrent moment. When the mind goes into the future, it observes and temporarilycollapses the wave function to a possible event. These data are seen within the brainwith the same clarity as a memory, using the same external sensing. Data is filed onthe individual's world line and may affect his or her future actions. Often future events are dependent on the actions of many people, any of whom canchange their minds because they have free will. Thus, as real time marches on, thewave functions of future events are constantly being changed to reflect theirprobabilities based on current realities. "Energy-exchange" curve that indicates that some of the population of a given bandmay be able to extend their consciousness outside the band, even though theynormally communicate well within their population band. By moving up the scalefrom emotional to mental to intuitive) the person with the higher level ofconsciousness is capable of handling and possibly manipulating more information.

During sleep, the signals from the body sensors are relatively small, and theexternal signals may be large enough to be detected and processed. OBE’s - physical brain is still doing the data processing. The signals from theirphysical sensors have become very small compared to the external signals. In psychometry, an individual touches an object and lets information come into hisbrain that is stored in the STU on the time line of that object. What some people see as an "aura" may be the overlay of signals from both thephysical body and external sensors.Mechanism A metal is a type of crystal, which is made of atoms bonded together in a structuredway. In metals, there are many localized regions of crystals called grains. Withineach individual grain, there can be irregularities in the structure called dislocations. At the edge of these regions you have a grain boundary, and the gap between thesegrains is also a type of dislocation. Material which has a large concentration of dislocations, and a low-heat-transfercoefficient (low thermal conductivity) is the easiest to warm form. (His term forbending). Stainless steel flatware fits this category perfectly. It is usually stamped out in largequantities. Cold stamping creates a large number of "dislocations.” In warmforming, PK energy (an unknown form of energy) lands at a dislocation and turnsinto heat. These dislocations act as transducers. Because the metal grain boundariesare thin, heat that builds to 2000 degrees at these dislocations melts the steel, just asthey would if they were exposed to neutrons, x-rays or microwaves. The metal losesits structure and becomes like rubber for 5-30 seconds, then refreezes. Stainless steel has a very low thermal conductivity, which allows a metal bender tohave 5-30 seconds to find the moment when the metal is soft. The heat is then transferred out through the metal which can then be sensed by theindividual either as stickiness or warmth. The reason that the metal only feels warm (not hot) is that the grain boundaries arevery small compared to the size of the grains in the metal. There are some other metals that don’t work as well. Copper has a low heat transferrate, thus making it hard to find a time when enough of the grain boundaries havemelted to apply some pressure before the metal refreezes. Copper tends to get hotand people can get burned. Or, sometimes gasses build up in the copper, the gassespop, and the metal blows apart. Cast metals are very hard to PK because they don’t have very many in the firstplace. Graduate forks have large internal stresses and many dislocations. (Definegraduate). If a metal has some pre-stress in it and it is placed in an oven, the metal will curl upin order to relieve the stress. Metallurgists call this creep. Similarly, if the grain

boundaries of a metal are temporarily softened using PK and the metal has somepre-stress in it like the graduate forks do, the metal will change shape in order torelieve that stress and appear to bend spontaneously (graduate school bending).Protocol The original protocol for doing PK were invented by Severin Dahlen (metallurgist, who also worked at McDonnell Douglas). A typical PK Party lasted between two and three hours. 30-45 Minute Talk. Gavethe history of PK Parties and told people what was going to happen at the party. Ashe talked, people got increasingly anxious to get into the bending. People at a PK Party usually sat in a circle with a large number of spoons and forksdumped in the middle of the circle. Jack, acting as the party facilitator, explainedthe PK steps and then directed the group through the steps, much like a cheerleader.During the PK Party, the facilitator did not demonstrate doing PK, but encouragedthe people attending the PK Party to bend first. The idea was for people to havetheir own experience. Instructions were as follows. (Tiffany’s may be different). - Hold the piece of silverware between the thumb and forefinger and rub gently.- Project a point of concentration in your head, almost to the point of pain.- Then move this point of concentration down through your neck, shoulder, arm, hand, fingers, and project it into the silverware. In effect, this process allows themind to achieve a link from the brain to some point within the silverware.- Next, verbally command the silverware to bend. Have everyone shout as loud asthey could: "BEND, BEND, BEND!!!" The people are asked not to just shout forthe sake of shouting but to concentrate and intently command the silverware tobend.- Then release that thought, sit back, relax, and use the body sensors (fingers or afeeling) to find the small time window when the silverware is ready to bend.- Occasionally, push on the object with the other hand to see if the object gives. The metal becomes a biofeedback sensor. It only stays soft for between 5 and 30seconds, so it is important to really go at it for the few seconds that the metal is softand has lost its structure. Wrap the head around the handle many times. Also, youwill feel the metal "freeze" or re-harden as the grain boundaries re-solidify. Jack kept the environment fun, exciting, and even chaotic at times. Excitement wasencouraged and when people got into the fun of it, incredible results occurred. Thenoise and the people shouting with joy helped distract people, causing them to letgo, which is the most difficult part for most people. Most people have a hard time releasing the thought, and think that they have tocontinue to concentrate on the bending objective. So the facilitator moves aroundand tries to break everyone's concentration. Sometimes Jack would hold a person's silverware as if to test how he/she is doing, and then make-up something as to how well he/she is doing or what he/she shouldtry. Usually, the person was able to bend the object shortly thereafter.

Jack divided PK parties into three levels – Kindergarten, High School and GraduateSchool. Kindergarten – bending spoons and forks with hands, but using the power of themind to soften the metal, just as we’ve described above. People can use both hands during Kindergarten, but only a small amount of physicalforce is encouraged. Start at the Kindergarten level because of "boot-strapping" effect (increasesconfidence which breeds more successes). Knives were rarely used because they can break and cut people. Glass and woodblow up because they are not flexible enough to expand readily. People usually would bend four or five pieces of flatware before moving on to thenext level. The High School level is defined as bending things that cannot ordinarily be bent byhuman physical force, such as steel rods (aluminum rods, one foot in length and 3/8"in diameter. Also, zinc plated steel rods.). Also, silver plated spoons made of potmetal – where you buckle the bowls. Graduate school is when each person holds two forks at the bottom of the handle, one in each hand with the intention of having the forks bend spontaneously. Doneas a group. Convinces skeptics. Sometimes he had people use a dowsing rod, suggesting that everyone check thesilverware to determine if it was "willing to bend" (i.e., if the subconscious wouldallow the silverware to bend). If the person got a “no” answer, they would getdifferent silverware. Jack took pictures to record the results of the bending, and kept a record of eachindividual's results from all of the PK Parties. Did questionnaires and surveys at parties – ie.) perception of how much force theyused to bend the flatware.Observations Houck: 370 PK Parties, 17,000 people. Many other PK Party facilitators have replicated – same observations. Over 100others have given PK Parties all over the world with similar results reported.(Probably in the thousands by now). Skeptics: It is true that magicians have tricks where they can with sleight of hand ordiversion appear to bend objects like those at PK Parties. The 17,000 people whohave attended PK Parties cannot all be magicians. Seeing a six-year-old bend athick steel rod is very *********************Typical20 to 50 people at a PK Party. 15 minimum to create enough distraction for a highsuccess rate. The more people, the better the results.

20 to 25 people was optimal for one facilitator to handle. For larger parties, needmore facilitators. Optimal mix is 25% children or teenagers, 50 percent open-minded adults, 25percent people who were knowledgeable about psychic phenomena. ********** Everyone seems to be able to do PK. One of the reasons the PK Party format works so well is that people get immediatefeedback. Children were the best at PK, ages 6-13. They let go easily and look around a lot. They have not learned that they should not be able to do PK. Children were able to bend clear plastic forks and spoons. Plastic is normally brittleand breaks, but PKed area looks cloudy due to micro-cracks from a small bubblecaused by heat. Good feedback – can observe cloudiness – know when it’s ready tobend. Plastic utensils great for kids after the party – cheap to practice on. Senior citizens are the next best group. They have self confidence and let go easily. No gender, race or ethnic differences. People improve by attending multiple parties, indicating that training is possible. ********** But some people do not achieve PK at these parties. Some analyze too much. Some do not want to experience PK because of religiousbelief or negative attitudes. Too much observing and analyzing leads to failure. Sometimes, the “first-time-effect” is observed, also known as “beginner’s luck.”Without a good theoretical model, these people get frightened. They analyze theirresults away, which can reduce their later successes. Skeptics and analytical people squelch the effect. Puts two good benders on eitherside of them. Or he would separate skeptics from other skeptics, to avoid havingthem entrain each other. The same would apply to couples. ********** 3-4 minutes for first person to succeed. Then group belief changed and most bendwithin 30 minutes. After bending 2-3 pieces, people were offered rods. Half accept the challenge. Many times, children between 6 and 8 were able to bend the rods, at least 20degrees ********** 85% attain Kindergarten level, bending one or more pieces. 32% attain High School bending (rods, etc.) 11% attain Graduate School bending (no touching). ********** Air gets cold around fork as mind pulls heat out of the air, condensation forms andwater drips from fork.

A few pieces of silverware that have been warm-formed would break with a loudpopping sound. Telekinesis observed (objects moving in room). (Rarely). Spontaneous healings. Same energy. Woman holding wine glass – fingerprints etched into wine glass. Man pulled a spoon apart – force of 850 lbs. pressure. An experiment demonstrated that PK can be performed remotely. Video on website. ********** Time phenomena. Stainless forks and spoons just lying on the floor get softer and softer from one PKParty to another. Experimental hacksaw blades exposed to the environment at PK Parties becamesofter after each event. Metal would continue to bend for up to 3 days after a party. Metal continues to bend after the party is over, like it’s been at 800 degreescontinuously, and the stress slowly was relieved, as in a phenomenon known asmetal "creep." Graduate forks - stop bending after 3 parties as dislocations reduced and stressreleased. ********** Take it home, put by plants – reports of improved plant growth. 50% can do later by themselves, without the PK Party environment. After-party applications. A lady bent curtain rod to right shape, man took a nut offhis car that no tools would move.Research and Experiments Hacksaw blades were exposed to PK party environments. A control blade was leftat a friend’s house. After 3 months, it was found by metallurgical analysis that thePK exposed blades got softer after each party. No intense magnetic fields were found to be associated with PK. Although HallEffect chips are used in the detection of magnetic fields, their current flow changedepends on the dislocations within the chip. They were affected by PK, but wouldhave to be replaced after each experiment. No other devices were found to measure PK. Magnetic Media - No results; Acoustical Dislocation Movement - Limited results;Liquid Crystal Displays - No results; Thermo Liquid Crystal Displays - No results Some studies have shown that material is missing after being PK’ed. A group was able to stop a gyroscope 3,000 miles away, within 5 minutes – remotePK. About 50% of the people given soybean seeds had the seeds popping the shells andthen appearing to have a sprout emerging about 1/4".

Successful experiments: (a) Remotely move objects, (b) Remotely bend objects. (c)Measure temperature by several methods (d) Watch repair. Questionnaires - More than half of the people felt that they used less than half theforce necessary to physically bend the flatware. 5 objects were examined under Scanning Electron Microscope, and subjected toetching and hardness tests. Warm formed objects show distinct patterns vs. controlobjects. Schumann Resonance: Lightening bolts throughout the earth stimulate the cavitybetween the earth surface and ionosphere to resonate at extremely low frequencies(ELF) of 7.82 Hz, causing the earth's magnetic field to oscillate at this frequency. This is also the EEG frequency of the brain during REM Sleep and HypnogogicImagery. It is also present in psychics and remote viewers. Did measurements. Hypothesisthat entraining brain at this frequency could enhance PK. Need to test.Healing PK energy in hands is same as Chi energy. Spontaneous healing at PK Parties was often observed. The PK "energy" seems to be magnified at PK Parties and is strongest at the centerof the circle of benders. Houck’s personal healing power increased over the years as he practiced PK. Steps for healing are same as steps to perform PK. Connect to source. Turn on theenergy, check and apply the energy, direct it with intention for healing,disconnect/cleanse, thank the source. 30% placebo effect, just as with other forms of healing If you are a healer, put your successfully bent flatware by your healing space in youroffice so clients can see it. This will increase their belief in your healing powers. Final Word. PK Allows you to experience things which you may not have believedpossible, which in turn should help you reduce some of the artificial limits placed onyour life.
