BMW CONNECTED DRIVE EMAIL SETUP.A GUIDE TO SETTING UP EMAIL ACCOUNTS IN YOUR BMW.

CONNECTED DRIVE PORTAL.E-MAIL.E-mails can be accessed in the car using the BMW Online connection.To do so, the e-mail account must first be configured to allow access.This can be completed on the ConnectedDrive Portal.The account types that can be configured include Google Mail, Yahoo!Mail, MSN, Outlook, Hotmail, Live, AOL and iCloud. The portal canalso allow for configuration of user-defined accounts if the settingsare known.Please note that Office 365 and Microsoft Exchange email addressesare not supported.We recommend setting up in the ConnectedDrive Portal:From the homepage, select ‘Control’.Scroll down and you will see ‘Set up email accounts’.BMW ConnectedDrive PortalPage 2

CONNECTED DRIVE PORTAL.E-MAIL - SET UP. First choose the appropriate ‘Provider’ from the drop down list. Doing so will adjust what fields need to be completed.If a popular account is chosen the server mailbox settings areautomatically populated. Note: to use Google Email the customer must enable IMAP access in theirGoogle account (see later pages) and select Gmail (IMAP) from drop down list. Then complete the remaining fields: E-mail address: E-mail address of account to be configured. User name: Only complete if a different username is used tologin. Password: E-mail address password (not ConnectedDrive). Signature: Enter a personalised signature if you wish to havethis on all emails sent from the account in your BMW. Once completed, select ‘Save’.BMW ConnectedDrive PortalPage 3

CONNECTED DRIVE PORTAL.E-MAIL - USER DEFINED ACCOUNTS. If the user wants to set up an e-mail account that is not listed in the‘Provider’ drop down list then choose the option ‘User-defined’. The following information will need to be entered: Provider: User-defined. E-mail address: E-mail address of account to be configured. User name: Only enter if different for logging in to the account. Password: E-mail address password. POP3, POP3 S, IMAP, IMAP S: Customers mail server information.The S denotes SSL on the above options. Incoming mail server: Customer’s mail server information. Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Customer’s mail server information. Advanced settings: Complete settings based on requirements of provider. Once completed, select ‘Save’. Please note that support for user defined accounts is not guaranteed.BMW ConnectedDrive PortalPage 4

This is completed by selecting the ‘Plus’ button located in the top right ofthe screen. A list of available applications will then load. If you have set up an e-mailaccount in the ConnectedDrive Portal, scroll down and select ‘BMWOnline Mail’. When the application is selected, a summary will load, select the ‘Plus(Add)’ button to install the application in the users personal online office.Page 7

CONNECTED DRIVE PORTAL.E-MAIL - ACCESS IN YOUR BMW.78 Once added, it will display in the Office section. If the user wishes, they canalso remove applications by selecting the minus icon. To access the e-mail account, select the application which will display alog-in screen. When accessing for the first time, the user must enter theirConnectedDrive username and password NOT their personal e-mail orpassword. Note: if the option to ‘Log in automatically’ is selected the user will not have to log in againfor future access. Once the account has loaded, the Inbox will begin to update.9BMW ConnectedDrive Portal The inbox refreshes periodically, therefore it may not immediately shownew e-mails that have arrived since logging in. However it can be manuallyrefreshed by pressing ‘Options’ on the iDrive Control and then ‘ Refresh’.Page 8

CONNECTED DRIVE PORTAL.E-MAIL - ACCESS IN YOUR BMW.To access the inbox, once logged in, select ‘Inbox’.This will then load a of emails in time order, showing most recent first.The senders name, e-mail address and the e-mail subject are displayed.Selecting an e-mail will load it to display the main content.The options available in the side menu include: Reply Delete ReadBMW ConnectedDrive PortalPage 9

CONNECTED DRIVE PORTAL.E-MAIL - ACCESS IN YOUR BMW. To compose a message or reply, select ‘Write’. This will then allow the sender’s e-mail address to be inputted, an e-mailaddress selected from the address book, as well as the option to ‘CC’ in ane-mail address. By scrolling down the page using the iDrive, a subject can be inputted aswell as the main content of the e-mail. To speed up reply times and minimise distraction, a driver can load thetemplates that have been pre-set within the ConnectedDrive Portal, byselecting ‘Text blocks’ Note: see page 12. CONNECTED DRIVE PORTAL.E-MAIL - VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS. The minimum requirements to access the BMW ConnectedDrive Portal:- Internet Explorer version 10.- Safari version 5.- Chrome version 30.- Firefox version 24. The vehicle requirements for access to BMW Online:Option 6AK – BMW Online Services , included in Media package - Business Plus (ZNC) or Media package - Professional (ZNP ) oravailable via the BMW ConnectedDrive Store. An active subscription to BMW Online is required. This feature became standard from January 2016 production with a 3 year subscription to BMW Online included. Or: Option 616 – BMW Assist Online. General vehicle requirements: BMW Online functions via the vehicle SIM therefore performance will depend on having sufficient mobile reception, there are no additionaldata costs for using this service.BMW ConnectedDrive PortalPage 11
