To use these instructions youmust use the remote providedwith your PBTV service. If theremote does not seem to be responding press the “STB” buttonon the top of the remote and itshould respond.ABOUT THE CURSORWhen navigating the settingsmenus on your PBTV set top boxyou will see a square that surrounds the option you currentlyhave selected. If the option youhave selected is a white box(check box) or button the cursorwill appear as a white and bluesquare. If the option you haveselected drops down to give youmultiple options the cursor willturn green. You move the cursorby pressing the various arrowsnext to the OK button on yourPBTV remote.ENTER WORDS USINGTHE REMOTEWhen creating a new user orentering the name of a favoritesmenu, you have the option toenter words. Press and hold theKEYBOARD button on the remoteuntil a keyboard shows up on thescreen. Then use the ARROWSaround the OK button to maneuver around the keyboard. Whenyou have entered the name, pressthe SEND button on the keyboarddisplay.USING THE GUIDEWhen you press the GUIDE button on your remote a screen willdisplay showing a list of showsthat are currently running, youcan move through the channelsusing the UP and DOWN arrowson your remote. You can alsolook forward to see what showswill be airing at a later time. Todo this you press the right arrowon your remote, each time you dothis will move you over one hour.To go back in the guide you canpress the left arrow. To show theprogram you have selected pressOK on the remote.SEARCH THE GUIDE Press MENU Arrow over to SEARCH andpress OK Use the LAST CHANNEL button to clear off the writing “entertext” Press OK to pull up an alpha pad Enter the appropriate letters Press DONE on the key padADDING A REMINDERIf you wish to be reminded whena program is going to start youcan set a reminder. Press GUIDE on the Remote Find the Program you would liketo be reminded about. Press OK on the remote. Make sure the cursor is aroundREMINDER. Press OK on the remote. A reminder will now show whenthis program starts.SCHEDULING AN AUTO TUNEIf there is a program that youwant your TV to tune to automatically when it starts, you canschedule an auto tune. An AutoTune is best used for a program1

that you wish to have tuned once.If you wish to have a programscheduled every time it’s on youwould schedule an event. Press the Guide Button Find the Program you would liketo be reminded about. Press OK on the remote. Make sure the cursor is aroundAUTO TUNE. Press OK on the remote. Your TV will automaticallychange to that program when itstarts.SCHEDULING AN EVENTYou may schedule an event if youwish for a program to be tunedevery time it is shown, or for acertain channel to be tuned atcertain times of day. Find the Program/Time Slot andChannel you wish to schedule anevent for. Press OK on the Remote. Press the DOWN ARROW onthe remote until SCHEDULE ANEVENT is selected. Press OK on the Remote.ordered on. If your rentals are notprivate any set top box in yourhouse can watch that rental. Go into Settings Move Cursor around White Boxnext to Make Rentals Private. Press OK if White Box is notchecked to make rentals private. Press OK if White Box ischecked to make them not beprivate. Move the Cursor down to OK onthe screen and press OK on theremote to save your settings.ENABLE/DISABLE LOGINAbout this Setting: If your login isenabled then when your set topbox is reset you will get a loginscreen requiring you to enter yourusername and password. If thissetting is disabled you will not berequired to enter your usernameand password when your set topbox is reset. Go into Settings Move Cursor around the WhiteBox next to Enable Login Press OK if the White Box is notchecked to Enable Login Press OK if the White Box ischecked to Disable Login. Move the Cursor down to OK onthe screen and press OK on theremote to save your settings.TO GET INTO SETTINGS Press Menu. Press Arrows to Move the cursor around Settings Option. Press OK on the remote. Type in Password (Default is 0). Press OK on the remote.TO MAKE/UNMAKE RENTALSPRIVATEAbout this Setting: If your rentalsare private they will only be watchable on the set top box they were2PPV PURCHASE SETTINGSAbout this Setting: Allows youto control whether a reminder isshown or the TV auto tunes whena PPV event starts. Go into Settings Move Cursor towards PPV Purchase

Cursor will turn green when itsurrounds the white box next toPPV Purchase Hit OK on the remote and threeoptions will be shown.a. None (Nothing wellhappen when a PPV eventstarts.)b. Reminder (A remindedwill appear on screen whena PPV event starts.)c. Auto Tune (The TV willautomatically tune to thePPV event when it starts). Use arrows to highlight the option you want. Once option is selected pressOK on remote. Move the Cursor down to OK onthe screen and press OK on theremote to save your settings.NON-PPV AUTO TUNEAbout this Setting: Allows youto set how long before a scheduled event starts that your TV willtune to that channel. Go into Settings Move Cursor towards Non-PPVAuto Tune Cursor will turn green when itsurrounds the white box next toNon-PPV Auto Tune Hit OK on the remote and several options will be shown. Selectthe time before the Auto Tune youwould like the channel to change. Use arrows to highlight the option you want. Once option is selected pressOK on remote. Move the Cursor down to OK onthe screen and press OK on theremote to save your settings.CALLER ID TIMEOUTAbout this Setting: This settingdetermines how long the CallerID window appears on the screenwhen you receive a call. Go into Settings Move Cursor towards Caller IDTimeout Cursor will turn green when itsurrounds the white box next toCaller ID Timeout Hit OK on the remote and several options will be shown. Selectan option of 15 seconds or more Use arrows to highlight the option you want. Once option is selected pressOK on remote. Move the Cursor down to OK onthe screen and press OK on theremote the screen to save yoursettings.DELETING NUMBERS FROMCALL LOG Press MENU Arrow over to VAULT and pressOK Arrow down to Caller ID Logand press OK Highlight the number to deleteand press OK Select the option that worksbest for you and press OKGETTING INTO PARENTALCONTROLSAbout this setting: Parental controls allow you to restrict whatchannels are available to watch atany given time. Go into Settings Move Cursor towards Parental3

Controls so that it highlights theCHANGE button next to ParentalControls Hit OK on the remote to go intothe parental control settings.ACTIVATING/DEACTIVATINGPARENTAL CONTROLSAbout this setting: You must enable this setting in order to enableyour Parental Controls. Go into Parental Controls Move cursor over to the WhiteBox by Parental Controls. If there is no check in the whitebox press OK on the remote tocheck the box and activate parental controls. If there is a check in the whitebox press OK on the remote touncheck the box and deactivatethe parental controls. Move the cursor down to theDONE button on the screen andpress OK on your remote.CHANGING THE AVAILABLEMOVIE RATINGSAbout this setting: This setting isused to determine the highest rating movie available to be watchedon your TV, without entering aparental code. Thus if “R” isselected, movies of “R” ratingor less can be watched withoutentering a code. Go into Parental Controls Move the Cursor to highlight thebox next to Movie Ratings, thedefault rating is “R” To Change the current Ratingpress OK on your Remote and alist of options will be shown.4 Use the Arrow Keys on yourRemote to highlight the optionyou wish to use and Press the OKbutton again. Move the cursor down to theDONE button on the screen andpress OK on your remote.CHANGING THE AVAILABLETV RATINGSAbout this Setting: This is setting used to determine the highestTV rating available to be watchedon your TV, without entering aparental code. Thus if “TV-14” isselected, shows with a rating of“TV-14” or less can be watchedwithout entering a code. Go to Parental Controls Move cursor to highlight boxnext to TV Rating, the default rating is “TV-14” To Change the current Ratingpress OK on your Remote and alist of options will be shown. Use the Arrow Keys on yourRemote to highlight the optionyou wise to use and Press the OKbutton again. Move the cursor down to theDone button on the screen andpress OK on your remote.CHANGING CONTENTRATINGSAbout this Setting: You can setyour set top box to apply parentalblocks to particular content ratings such as Dialog and Violence.Any program that has a ratingbased on these factors will requirea parental code to be watched. Go into Parental Controls Move the Cursor down the

white box next to the ContentRating you wish to restrict. Press the OK button on the remote if the box is not checked toadd a content block Press the OK button on theremote if the box is checked toremoved a content block Move the Cursor down to theDone Button on the screen andpress OK on the remote to savethe changes.BLOCK UNRATED PROGRAMSAbout this Setting: The block unrated programs setting allows youto lock out all shows without arating, forcing a parental code tobe entered to watch those shows. Go into Parental Controls Move the Cursor over to thewhite box next to Block UnratedPrograms If the box is not checked pressthe OK button on the remote tocheck the box andblock unrated programs. If the box is checked pressthe OK button on the remote touncheck the box and unblockunrated programs. Move the Cursor down to theDone Button on the screen andpress OK on the remote to savethe changes.SHOW INFO FOR BLOCKEDPROGRAMSAbout this Setting: This settingallows you to control whether theinfo is displayed on a programwhich is blocked by parental settings. Go into Parental Controls Move the Cursor over to thewhite box next to Show Info ForBlocked Programs If the box is checked press theOK button on your remote to notshow info on blocked programs. If the box is not checked pressthe OK button on your remote toshow info on blocked programs. Move the Cursor down to theDone Button on the screen andpress OK on the remote to savethe changes.CREATING A FAVORITES LISTAbout this Setting: PBTV allowsyou to create multiple favoriteslist to which you can add andremove channels to quickly viewparticular groups of channels. Press the Menu button on yourremote. Use the arrows on the remoteto move the cursor to around theFavorites option. Press the OK button on yourremote. Use the arrows to move the cursor around create. Press OK on the remote. Use the Arrow Keys to movearound the channel list and find achannel you want on the list andmove the cursor around the whitebox next to it. To get to the next page of channels move the cursor to the arrowat the bottom of the screen andpress OK. Press OK on the remote tocheck the box and add the channel to the list. Keep moving around the listand select all the channels PressMENU on your PBTV remote.5

When done use the arrow keysto move the cursor down to theSAVE button on the screen. Press OK to save your favoriteslist. Press OK on the remote. Use the Arrows on the Remoteto Select the Favorites List youwish to remove. Press OK on the Remote to remove the list.ACCESSING A FAVORITESLISTMethod 1 Press guide, just below the TVpicture there will be a text flagindicating which favorite list iscurrently selected. Pressing guide repeatedly willcycle through all available favorites. If you exit the guide while afavorites list is selected, pressingchannel up and channel down willmove through only those channelsin the list.Method 2 Press Menu on the remote. Use the arrow buttons to highlight Favorites. Press OK Use the Arrow Buttons to highlight Choose. Press OK. Use the arrows to select theFavorites list you want. Press OK. If you press channel up andchannel down only the channelsin that list will be shown.DELETE A FAVORITES LIST Press MENU on your PBTVremote. Use the arrows on the remoteto move the cursor to around thefavorites option. Press the OK button on yourremote. Use the arrows to move the cursor around DELETE.6ADDING CHANNELS TO YOURFAVORITES LIST While on the channel you wishto add press the OK button onyour PBTV remote. Press OK again on the remote toget into the add/remove favoritesmenu. Press OK again on the remote toget into the add menu. Use the arrows on the remote toselect favorites list you’d like toadd to. Press OK on the remote to addthe channel to that favorites list.REMOVING CHANNELS FROMYOUR FAVORITES LIST While on the channel you wishto remove press the OK button onyour PBTV remote. Press OK again on the remote toget into the add/remove favoritesmenu. Press the down arrow on theremote to move the cursor aroundREMOVE on the screen. Press OK on the remote. Use the Arrows on the remoteto select the list from which youwish to remove the channel. Press OK on the remote to remove the channel from that list.

ADDING USERSAbout this function: You mayhave multiple accounts on yourservice allowing you to have different settings for each account.Only the main account can add ordelete accounts. Go into Settings Press the Arrow Up button onyour remote, the cursor shouldnow be on the word SETTINGSon the screen. Press the Right Arrow on theremote to move the cursor aroundthe words USERS. Press OK on the remote. Press the Down Arrow on theremote until you are on the bottom the line on the screen. Press the Left Arrow on theremote until the cursor is on theADD button on the screen. Press OK on the remote. Enter a username for the account. Press the Right Arrow on theRemote to move the cursor nextto the password field. Enter a numeric password forthe account. Press the Down Arrow. Reenter the numeric passwordfor the account. Press the Down Arrow again. If you wish to set an allowancefor the user to rent with enterthat amount, or skip this step. Press the Down Arrow. Enter a Pin Number if you want. Press the Down Arrow and thenthe Left Arrow to move the cursorto CONTINUE on the screen. Press OK on the Remote. Press OK to change the changethe movie rating. Use the arrows on the remote tohighlight the rating you want andthen press OK on the remote. Press the Down Arrow to moveto the box next TV Rating. Press OK to change the movierating. Use the arrows on remote tohighlight the rating you want. Press OK on the remote. Use the Arrows to move thecursor to down to SAVE on theScreen. Press OK on the remote. You have created an account.LOGGING INTO YOURACCOUNTWhen no one is signed into yourset top box you will see a screenthat lists two fields: Name andPassword. You use these fieldsto log into your account. (Thedefault username and passwordare both 0). If the User you would like to login as is already next to the NAMEarrow on the screen, just enteryour password then press OKon the remote. Otherwise followthese steps: If the User you would like to login as is not selected press the UPARROW then Press OK. Two arrows will appear oneabove and one below the Namebox. Press the Up and Down arrowsto find the user you would like tolog in as. Press OK on the remote onceyou have found the user youwant.7

Press the DOWN ARROW toselect the password field. Enter Your Password then PressOK on the remote.SWITCHING USERSYou can switch users at any timeto access your own settings at adifferent set top box. Your account maybe logged into all ornone of the set top boxes at yourhome. If you don’t want someoneto have access to your personalsetting on your account rememberto sign out. Press MENU on the Remote. Press the Right Arrow on theremote until the cursor is on SignOut. Press OK. Log in as described in the Logging into your Account Section.CHANGING YOUR PASSWORD Go into Settings Press the UP ARROW on theremote until the cursor is on SETTINGS Press the RIGHT ARROW onethe remote so the cursor is onUSERS Press OK on the remote. Press the DOWN ARROW untilthe Cursor is on the User that youwish to change the password for. Press OK. Press the DOWN ARROW againuntil at bottom of screen. Press the RIGHT ARROW untilcursor is on USER OPTIONS. Press OK. Use the ARROWS on the remoteto move the cursor to the CurrentPassword Box.8 Enter your current password. Press the DOWN ARROW. Enter the New Password. Press the DOWN ARROW. Enter the new passcode again toconfirm it. Use the ARROWS on the remoteuntil you have moved the cursorto SAVE on the screen. Press OK on the remote.CHANGING THE PINThe Pin number is used to purchase PPV movies. The defaultpin is either 2000 or 0. Go into Settings Press the UP ARROW on theremote until the cursor is on SETTINGS Press the RIGHT ARROW onethe remote so the cursor is onUSERS Press OK on the remote. Press the DOWN ARROW untilthe Cursor is on the User forwhich you wish to Change thePIN. Press OK. Press the DOWN ARROW againuntil at bottom of screen. Press the RIGHT ARROW untilcursor is on USER OPTIONS. Press OK. Use the ARROWS on the remoteto move the cursor to the CurrentPin Box. Enter your current pin. Press the DOWN ARROW. Enter the New pin. Press the DOWN ARROW. Enter the new pin again to confirm it. Use the ARROWS on the remoteuntil you have moved the cursor

to SAVE on screen. Press OK on the remote.CHANGING THE TV DISPLAYFORMATThe TV Display Format adjustshow the TV signal is shown onyour screen. There are threedisplay format settings: standard,letterbox, and widescreen. Standard is used for most TVs; Widescreen is used for widescreen andHigh Definition TVs. Go into Settings Press the DOWN ARROW untilthe Cursor is on Hardware Settings. Press OK on the remote. Press the DOWN ARROW againto highlight TV System and AudioSettings. Press OK on the remote. Press the UP ARROW until thecursor is next to TV Display Format. Press OK on the remote. Use the arrows on the remote toselect the TV Display Format youwant. Press OK on the remote. Press the DOWN ARROW on theremote until you highlight SaveChanges. Press OK on the remote.CHANGING THE RF CHANNELThe RF Channel is the channel one your TV that your tuneto in order to watch PBTV. Youcan change this if you’d like, butunless there is interference youshould leave this alone. Go into Settings Press the DOWN ARROW untilthe Cursor is on Hardware Settings.3) Press OK on the remote.4) Press the DOWN ARROW againto highlight TV System and AudioSettings.5) Press OK on the remote.6) Press the UP ARROW until thecursor is next to RF Channel.7) Press the LEFT ARROW so thecursor is on the number box noton the check box.8) Enter the Channel you wish touse.9) Press the DOWN ARROW onthe remote until you highlightSave Changes.10) Press OK on the remote.BASIC DVR OPERATIONSOn your PBTV remote you willfind six buttons that are related tothe basic DVR operations. Thesebuttons are: Play, Stop, Record,Pause, Rewind, and Fast Fwd.The Play ButtonThe Play button is used to playprevious recordings or to restartpaused TV programming.The Stop ButtonThe Stop button is used to stop arecording that is playing.The Record ButtonThe Record button is used to immediately start recording the program you are watching. You canrecord or watch two programsat once. For example you couldwatch ESPN and record NBC.However if you record both ESPNand NBC you will not be able towatch any other channels.9

Stopping a RecordingTo stop a recording in progresspress the stop button on theremote. The Following Screen willappear. Highlight Yes and PressOK.The Pause ButtonYou can use the pause button topause live TV and the resume it ata later time. To resume watchingTV press the pause button againor press the play button. Pressingthe Rewind Button multiple timeswill increase the speed that therecording is rewound.The Rewind ButtonYou can use the rewind button torewind a program that had beenrecorded or paused. You canonly rewind to the point wherethe program had been paused orrecorded. Pressing the Rewindbutton multiple times will increasethe speed at which you rewind.The Fast Forward ButtonYou can use the fast forward button to fast forward through programming that had been pausedor recorded. Pressing the fastforward button multiple times willincrease the fast forward speed.Am I recording?If you hit INFO on your remote theinfo bar will come up and a reddot or double red dot will showon the right hand side if you arerecording, though this will onlyindicate if you are recording thecurrently viewed program.10ADVANCED DVR OPERATIONSSchedule RecordingHighlight an upcoming programin the guide and press RECORDa single dot will appear indicatedthis program will be recordedonce. Press RECORD again anda double dot will appear, thisindicates that the entire series isrecorded (see below for details onSeries Recording).The Basic Program MenuTo open the Program Menu highlight a program yet to occur andpress OK the Program Menu willappear.Record ProgramThe Record Program option allowsyou to record a single instance ofa program occurring at a specifictime. To use Record Programhighlight it in the Basic ProgramMenu and press OK.Record SeriesThe Record Series option allowsyou to record all instances of aprogram occurring on a specificchannel. To use Record Serieshighlight it in the Basic ProgramMenu and press OK.The Advanced Recording MenuIf you are in the guide and pressOK while a program to be recorded is selected, this will bring upthe Advanced Recording Menu.This menu will similar to the BasicProgram Menu however depending on the type of recording it willhave some different options.

Edit Recording (Program and Series Recording)You can use Edit Recording to pada recording. Padding either addsor subtracts to the beginning orend of the recording.Record Episode (Series RecordingOnly)Selecting Record Episode from themenu will cause an instance of ashow to be recorded that was notpreviously going to be recorded.Edit Series Recording (Series Recording Only)You can use Edit Series Recordingto change the options for a Seriesrecording. You can change theoptions by highlighting them andpressing the right and left arrows.The options are as follows. Channels - You can either selectthe channel where the recordingwas initially started or all channels. Default: Initial Channel Preference - You can recordeither Standard or High DefinitionPrograms. Default: Standard Episodes - You can record eitherall instances of this program or allnew episodes. Default: All Pad In - You can add to the beginning of the recording. Default:0 mins Pad Out - You can add to theend of the recording. Default: 0mins Limit to - You can limit the number of recordings to All, 1 time, 5times, or 10 times. Default: AllCancel Recording (ProgramRecording Only)Selecting cancel recording willcancel this Program Recording.Skip Episode (Series RecordingOnly)Selecting Skip Episode from themenu will cause recording of thisspecific instance of a program tonot be recorded.Cancel Series Recording (SeriesRecording Only)Selecting Cancel Series Recording will cancel the series recording and all instances where thisprogram will be recorded.THE DVR MENUThe DVR Menu gives you accessto various options which allowyou to control your recordings.Getting into the DVR Menu Press MENU on the remote. Use the Arrow Keys to HighlightDVR. Press OK on the Remote.RecordingsThe Recordings menu providesyou with access to you currentrecordings. If you select a recording in the Recordings menu andpress OK you will be presentedwith three options other thancancel.Play RecordingThis option starts playback of therecording.11

Deleting a RecordingThis option deletes the recording.Lock a RecordingLocking a recording prevents therecording from being automatically deleted by the DVR to makeroom for new recordings.To Record MenuYou can use the To Record optionto see a listing of all scheduled recording events. To get into the ToRecord menu, highlight it in theDVR menu and press OK on theremote. To scroll through the ToRecord list, press the right arrowand then use the up and down arrows to move through the list.Schedule PriorityWhen more than two programsare set to record at the sametime a scheduling conflict occurs.In order to resolve a schedulingconflict the DVR will record onlythe two that are highest on thepriority list. A notification of thiswill show on the screen and in theRecord History.Schedule EventYou can use the DVR to schedulea recording at a specific time andchannel. Press OK on the remote whilethe box to the right of Ch: is highlighted to change which channelis recorded. Press OK on the remote whilethe box to the left of “hrs” ishighlighted to change the numberof hours the recording is for. Press OK on the remote whilethe box to the left of “mins” ishighlighted to change the number12of minutes the recording will befor. Press OK on the remote whilethe boxes next to “On:” are highlighted to change the month orday respectively that the recording is for. Press OK on the remote whilethe boxes next to “At”: are highlighted in order to change thehour, minute, and AM/PM respectively. Leave the Type field as recording. Press OK on the remote whilethe box next to Freq is highlightedto change the how often the recording will occur.Your options are: Single (one time recording) Every Day (recording occurseveryday, date is disregarded) Every M-F (recording occursevery Monday to Friday) Weekly (records on the sameday every week)Record HistoryYou can use the Record Historyoption in the DVR menu to showa listing of all programs that havebeen recorded, or recording related events.To get into the Record Historyhighlight it in the DVR menu andpress OK on the remote.To Scroll through the RecordHistory Press the right arrow andthen use the up and down arrowsto move through the list.
