Neutralize any acid spills thoroughly withbaking soda before attempting to clean up. Remove all personal metal items from yourbody, such as rings, bracelets, necklacesand watches. A battery can produce a shortcircuit current high enough to weld a ring tometal, causing a severe burn. Never smoke or allow a spark or flame inthe vicinity of the battery or engine. 4

CHARGE IMMEDIATELYAFTER PURCHASE, AFTER EACHUSE AND EVERY 30 DAYS, TO KEEPTHE INSTANT POWER’S INTERNALBATTERY FULLY CHARGED ANDPROLONG BATTERY LIFE.CHECKING THE LEVEL OF THEINTERNAL BATTERYPress the Battery Status button onthe front of the unit. The LED lights willindicate the current charge level asfollows:RED – less than 20% of full charge;immediately charge the unit.YELLOW/ORANGE – 20-80% of fullcharge.GREEN – more than 80% of full charge.CHARGING THE INTERNAL BATTERYCharge the internal battery for theInstant Power using an extension cord(not included).NOTE: Use of an improper extensioncord could result in a risk of fire andelectric shock.1. To charge, flip the AC connector onthe back of the unit DOWN and plug inan 18 AWG or larger extension cord.2. Plug the extension cord into a 120VACelectrical wall outlet.3. While the jump starter is charging, theRED LED will be on. Complete chargingmay take up to 72 hours. When theRED LED turns off, the jump starter isready to use. 5

4. When the internal battery is fullycharged, the charger will automaticallygo into maintain mode and maintainthe battery at full charge withoutdamaging it. When in maintain mode,the GREEN LED will pulse, as longas there is an AC cord connected tothe charging port.5. Charge the jump starter as soon aspossible after use.CHARGING THE INTERNAL BATTERYWHILE DRIVINGYou may also charge the internal batterywhile driving, using a male-to-malecharger cable (part number 94500109 –not included).IMPORTANT: DO NOT CHARGEINTERNAL BATTERY FOR MORE THAN30 MINUTES OR LEAVE THE BATTERYUNATTENDED. IT COULD EXPLODE,CAUSING PROPERTY DAMAGE ORPERSONAL INJURY.1. Make sure the car is running.2. Insert one end of the accessory cableinto the 12V DC power outlet.3. Insert the other end of the accessorycable into the vehicle’s accessoryoutlet (lighter socket).NOTE: The RED LED does not operateduring this method of charging. Using thismethod to charge the battery overridesthe maintain mode and the battery can beovercharged.4. Monitor the progress of the charge bypressing the Battery Status buttonon the front of the unit. When thebattery is fully charged, disconnectthe accessory cable from the InstantPower, then from the lighter socket ofthe vehicle.NOTE: Completely disconnect the chargercable when the engine is not running.5. USING THE INSTANT POWERIMPORTANT: Using the Engine Startfeature without a battery installed in thevehicle will damage the vehicle’s electricalsystem.1. Turn the ignition OFF.2. Lay the DC cables away from anyfan blades, belts, pulleys and othermoving parts.3. For a negative-ground vehicle (as inmost vehicles), connect the InstantPower’s POSITIVE (RED) clamp tothe POSITIVE (POS, P, ) batterypost. Next, connect the NEGATIVE(BLACK) clamp to the vehicle chassisor engine block, away from the battery.4. For a positive-ground vehicle, connectthe Instant Power’s NEGATIVE(BLACK) clamp to the NEGATIVE(NEG, N, -) battery post. Next,connect the POSITIVE (RED) clampto the vehicle chassis or engine blockaway from the battery.5. Turn the switch to the ON position(does not apply to the XP400). NOTE:The XP400 is equipped with an autostart feature. It will not supply currentto the battery clamps until a battery isproperly connected. The clamps willnot spark if touched together. 6 6. Crank the engine for no more than8 seconds. If the engine does not start,wait 2 minutes before cranking again.7. After the engine starts, turn the switchto the OFF position and remove theInstant Power from the battery.8. Charge the Instant Power.USING THE USB PORT(Model XP750C)The USB port provides up to 2Aat 5V DC.1. Ensure the battery clamps aresecurely clipped on the storageholders.2. Turn the Instant Power ON.3. Plug your device into the USB port.4. When finished using the USB port,turn the switch to the OFF position.5. Charge the Instant Power.USING THE WORK LIGHTThe work light is controlled by a slidingON/OFF switch located on the front ofthe Instant Power. Make sure the lampis turned OFF when the unit is beingrecharged or stored.Position the Instant Power on a flat, stablesurface near the intended work area.Ensure the battery clamps are securelyclipped on the storage holders.

POWERING A 12V DC DEVICEThe Instant Power is a power source forall 12V DC accessories that are equippedwith a 12V accessory plug. Use it for poweroutages and on fishing or camping trips.NOTE: Do not power a 12V device withthe Instant Power while charging theinternal battery.1. Make sure the device to be poweredis OFF before inserting the 12V DCaccessory plug into the 12V DCaccessory outlet.2. Open the protective cover of the DCpower outlet on the Instant Power.3. Plug the 12V DC device into the DCpower outlet and turn on the 12V DCdevice (if required).4. When finished, turn off the DC device(if required) and unplug from the DCpower outlet.CAUTION: Do not use the Instant Powerto run appliances that draw more than15A DC.NOTE: Extended operation of a 12V DCdevice may result in excessive batterydrain. Read the instructions of theproduct being inflated before using thecompressor. Avoid overinflation; do notexceed the manufacturer’s recommendedpressures. Do not leave the aircompressor unattended during use.NOTE: Wrap cleats are provided forconvenient storage of the air compressorhose. Wrap the hose around these cleatswhen the hose is not in use.1. Remove the air compressor hose fromthe storage cleats.2. Connect the adaptor to the valvestem and close the thumb latch. Ifnecessary, use one of the additionaladaptors.3. Press the air compressor powerswitch to turn ON and inflate to thedesired pressure or fullness (refer tothe gauge next to the switch).4. When the desired pressure isreached, press the air compressorpower switch to turn OFF, open thethumb latch and remove the connectorfrom the valve stem.5. Allow unit to cool.6. 6. MAINTENANCE AND CARE Clean the clamps and the case each timeyou are finished using it. Recharge the unit once a month whennot in use. Store clamps on their support posts, toensure they do not come into contactwith any metallic surface. Never completely discharge the internalbattery.7. TROUBLESHOOTINGPROBLEMThe Instant Power won’tjump start my car.POSSIBLE CAUSEREASON/SOLUTIONClamps are not makinga good connection to thebattery.Check for poor connection tobattery and frame. Make sureconnection points are clean.Connections are reversed.Disconnect the Instant Powerand reverse the clamps.The Instant Power’s battery is Press the Battery Status buttonnot charged.on the front of the unit.
