EXALTED AMONGTHE NATIONS

EXALTED AMONG THE NATIONS“Be still, and know that I am God.I will be exalted among the nations,I will be exalted in the earth!”This is a “go-to” verse for many of us when we are in a time of stress. We tell ourselvesto take a step back and remember that God is still God and He is in control. Praisethe Lord that we are not in charge and He is.But so many times we look at this verse and only see the first third of it. “Be still andknow that I am God.” We see the power and strength of the Lord that the rest of thechapter talks about. We see how this relates to us. We see that as believers we can bestill and trust in the Lord. What we often miss about this passage is God’s heart for more than just us. Psalm 46is all about the power and works of the Lord in all the earth. This includes us, but isnot limited to us.“I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” This is the greatestwork of the Lord and the culmination of the work of the Lord. As we “behold theworks of the Lord,” we grow in courage to surrender to His purposes, knowing thatHe will be exalted. He will be lifted up. As His followers, we can rest in that truth. AsHis workers, we can proclaim it.As we proclaim the glory of God, we have to stop and remember that it is not ourwork. The Lord invites us to be a part of proclaiming His glory, but regardless of whatwe do—join, mock, try and fail—He will be exalted! We can be confident that Hiswork will be done. He will be exalted among the nations.GO Trips at Union University provide opportunities for students, faculty, and staff tojoin ministry partners throughout the United States and around the world in makingChrist known among the nations. It is our prayer that your GO Trip experience willlead you to behold the works of the Lord, to know more of God’s character andpower, and to grow in sharing those truths with boldness and confidence, leveragingyour life for His purposes and glory.God is our refuge and strength, a verypresent help in trouble. Therefore wewill not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved intothe heart of the sea, though its watersroar and foam, though the mountainstremble at its swelling. SelahThere is a river whose streams makeglad the city of God, the holy habitationof the Most High. God is in the midst ofher; she shall not be moved; God willhelp her when morning dawns. Thenations rage, the kingdoms totter; heutters his voice, the earth melts. TheLORD of hosts is with us; the God ofJacob is our fortress. SelahCome, behold the works of the LORD,how he has brought desolations onthe earth. He makes wars cease to theend of the earth; he breaks the bowand shatters the spear; he burns thechariots with fire.“Be still, and know that I am God. I willbe exalted among the nations, I willbe exalted in the earth!” The LORD ofhosts is with us; the God of Jacob is ourfortress. SelahPSALM 46

The Lord is working. He wantsus to be a part of that work. Wecarry a gospel that transcendsour momentary afflictions. It isnot always easy, but it is always aprivilege, and the hope we have inHim is eternal.JOELIn talking with those we met, it quickly became clear that I cannot makethem believe anything. We spent hours with them proclaiming the truth, yetthey are still blind and deaf to it. Only God can change hearts. And the onlyreason I am not blind and deaf to the truth is because God has opened myeyes and ears to believe in Him.HUNTER

PAYING TO GOConcerned about the cost? Here’s what others have to say.God always provides. Listening to thetestimonies of our ministry partners and all myteam members, I heard over and over that God’splan is always higher and better and that Henever fails to provide for His children.KAITLYNGod laid it on my heart to save all summerfor the trip and to ask my parents to cover myexpenses as my Christmas present. My GO Tripwas the best gift ever!KATIEThe financial aspect is something to consider. Ithink most people can afford to go based on thesacrifices they are willing to make. It is a test ofwhat you really value. Are you willing to give upsomething you really want for something youthink is really valuable? Are you willing to worktoward something you really value?STEPHENOnce I committed to my GO Trip, it was incredibleto experience the Lord’s provision. Almostimmediately I began to receive income fromunexpected sources. This isn’t to say that I didn’thave to be financially responsible; if anything, Iworked harder at the jobs I was given and wasmore careful with how I spent my extra cash, butGod provided and the entire trip cost was covered.JOSH[The finances] were definitely a concern of minebut I can attest that the Lord provides in Histiming. It is a test of faith and it stretches you. Ifound that trusting God’s provision financiallywas a huge part of the preparation for what Iwould need to trust Him for throughout the trip.ZACHWe had a number of students who really feltlike they should go but the financial situationwas really difficult. They were very open aboutit and we were able to talk and pray about it.And then we were able to see God provide thatmoney in very unexpected ways.GO TRIP TEAM LEADER

THROUGH THE POWER OF PRAYER. HOPE OVER FEAR 1 PSALM 46:10, NIV ‘He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the . nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”’ In the midst of the global COVID-19 crisis, may we remember the Lord is close to the broken-hearted.

What does it mean to “Be Still and Know?” He says, Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. (Psalm 46:10) Stillness is a beautiful invitation in our fast-paced lives.

Still - Be still and know that I am God - a directive given by the Lord himself in Psalms. Which comes with something HUGE on the other side of it that will shed some light on who your personal tailor is: The Lord says, "Be still, and know that I am God;Iwill be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
