We have experienced significant amount of investmentfrom the private sector over the past several years. Specifically, the private sector invested an astonishing 100 per minute in 2014. That translates to over 52 million invested in Gahanna. A total of 269 residential unitswere added to the City last year alone, which is significant if you consider that the City only added 1047 homesbetween 2000 and 2010. What is driving this investment? How does it impact you and your business? Theseare some of the questions that we will answer at the Chamber’s Bridge to the City event. In addition, the City is in the process of creating a plan to guide our economic development efforts for thenext five years. With the help of industry leading experts, this plan will identify our community’s strengths andidentify where we need to improve in order to grow and remain economically sustainable. These experts will beon hand to provide a summary of the findings from this study and show some preliminary recommendationsthat will have a great impact on our community. Finally, the Gahanna Community Improvement Corporation plays a critical part in the City’s economicdevelopment efforts. This private sector lead group of volunteers is responsible for some of the City’s mosteffective development tools like the City Land Bank Program, GahannaNet Fiber Optic Network and coworking collaborative space. They have accomplished a great deal in 2014. Some board members will bepresent to go over some accomplishments and goals for the upcoming year. This event will provide attendees with an inside look at what is happening in economic development forGahanna. A NOTE FROM THEAMBASSADOR COMMITTEECHAIRMANSocial media can augment when time and distance are issues, but youcan’t replace face-to-face communication.-Erik Qualman, author of Socialnomics and Digital LeaderBecome an AmbassadorDo you know your fellow Chamber members? Who are your very bestprospects? How long has it been since you visited them to discusstheir needs? We all have busy schedules and many legitimate reasons for not takingthe time to meet face to face with customers. Technology makes itsimple, and instantly gratifying, to interface with one another. Socialmedia can be a great platform for business communication. Yet, socialmedia does not replace what you can gain by visiting or having a phoneconversation with a potential customer.Primarily, clients care that you take the time and effort to come tothem and have a discussion. It indicates that you value their timeand relationship and shows you are willing to learn more about theiroperations. Furthermore, you can learn facts when you are face to facethat you cannot learn any other way. Most importantly, face to faceinteraction is the foundation of a real business relationship; the type ofbusiness relationship we Ambassadors seek to develop with our fellowChamber members. We are seeking professionals who are passionate about Gahannaand their businesses. The Ambassador Committee is comprised ofvolunteers who connect with members face to face to further engagebusinesses in conversations about their individual needs and to askone simple question: How can the Chamber help you?Ambassador Appreciation Breakfast, hosted by Rusty Bucket.
