SAS Campus Family Camp Out Friday, Sept. 14 (5:00pm) – Saturday, Sept. 15 (12:00pm) SAS Campus 20 per participant; open to SAS Employees & their immediate family members of all agesRegister by Monday, Sept. 10Bring the family, your love for the outdoors and your sense of adventure and join us for an overnightevent right here on SAS campus! The theme of this overnight campout is stewardship within acommunity and the environment. Each family will volunteer to assist or lead different tasks during thecampout. You will sign up for your preferred task on the registration page.The program fee includes program supplies, dinner, breakfast and s’mores of course! You will need toprovide tents and sleeping supplies for your family. (This year’s event also includes an indoor sleepingoption.) If you have never camped before or have not pulled your tent out in a decade, no worries, anRFC staff member will be there to help. All ages are welcome to attend. At least one parent must bepresent for the campout. One golden rule for the program is this: we will have a good time withoutthe assistance of electronics. Please leave all electronics at home. The first 14 miles are downhilland the last three are relatively flat. Not into biking? You may choose an 8-mile hike in the GraysonHighlands/Mount Rogers area where you will enjoy the rocky, open terrain for which the region isknown. Late Saturday afternoon we’ll explore Damascus, the trail-friendliest town in the U.S. OnSunday, we’ll explore a stretch of the Appalachian Trail, from Whiteside Mountain to Mount Rogers,the highest point in Virginia.
