As the Centennial Project is atcompletion, the California/Nevada MooseAssociation still has roughly 13,000 toraise to fulfill their commitment toward theproject. Their original goal was to raise anddonate a minimum of 150,000.00 to beused to construct a new 3 story, 105 singleand double unit apartment building on theCampus of our Senior home, Moosehaven. This fundraising effort is our part of anoverall 10 million dollar new buildingproject. Executive Director John Capes wason hand to personally thank the fraternalunits for their part in helping to make thisproject a reality. We are now making preparations forour 2019-2020 Moose year which beginsMay 1 with a newly elected board ofofficers. The board can’t do it alone andwill be looking for chairpersons andcommittees for the upcoming year. Ifyou’ve got a little extra time, pleaseconsider joining or being a part of one ofthese committees, not only can they be fun,but they can also clue you in on what theLodge does as a fraternal unit. I can tellyou from having helped with committeework, the sense of accomplishment andpride with a successful event is amazing. And being able to see and hear the wordsof praise from the charity we weresupporting was enough to make me want todo the same thing again. Remember, aburden heavy to one is borne lightly bymany. The recent conference reminded us ofwhat to look forward to as fraternal units. And as we move forward, it will be ournew leaders and volunteers that will driveour fraternity into the future. Theaccomplishments of past are testament tothe worthwhile endeavors of our fraternalunits. We all took an oath of obligationwhen we became Moose members: tofreely and without reservation - accept thehonor - and obligation of membership - inthe Loyal Order of Moose - and pledge ourservice to our Brothers, - and to allmembers of this Order - this obligation binds us for all time. It is our obligation ofcommitment to continue to support theefforts of Moose International and also tohelp those in our local communities. There will be a Moose Legionconferral on Sunday April 6 at 11 - Iencourage any and all members to attendthe ceremony as we see our brothers takethe next step in service to our fraternity. Thanks again to all those who do what theydo to help us.

Greetings everyone;Last week was the midyear Cal/Nev conference in Reno,NV. John Burke, Mike Andre, BillBolton, Bill Drake and I attendedas delegates or members. PismoBeach #1409 was well representedand well received. Thank you allfor attending. When talking tofellow Moose members about ourrespective Lodges, I realize howgood we have it here in Pismo.I think sometimes we losesight how great our Lodge is. Yeswe have issues, like every Lodgehas, but our issues are nothingcompared to losing your Lodge dueto low membership, financialproblems, or even a catastrophicfire. So thank you all for keepingour Lodge strong by volunteering, patronizing, donating and caring;it’s for our children at Mooseheartand our seniors at Moosehaven.Pismo Beach Moose Lodgewill be hosting the district Legionceremony on the 7th and districtmeeting on the 20th. I’d like see agood turn out for both.Spring break is around thecorner, and as in the past, weanticipate a crowded socialquarters. I’m stressing patience andrespectfulness towards your followmembers.Thank you again for making, andkeeping, our lodge truly WorldFamous.Fraternally yours,Fraternally yours,Robert A. ChavezGovenorPismo Beach MooseLodge #1409Happy April Ladies! As I begin this last address asSenior Regent I can’t believe howquickly this year has gone by. I haveenjoyed serving as the Pismo BeachChapter Senior Regent. I have learnedso many things in this past year and takepride in this family fraternity that I am amember of.I’ve been thinking long and hardabout what I might like to say or share inthis month’s address and upon the returnfrom the Cal/Nevada Convention inReno I feel there are a few importantthings to touch on.First, please always remember weare a FAMILY fraternity. Remember totreat one another with respect anddignity. Remember that we are aboutserving and supporting Mooseheart,Moosehaven, and our community as wellas each other. Second, there are manychapters and lodges that have shut downor are in jeopardy of doing do becausethey have lost sight of these things. Weare over 1700 strong as a chapter and weshould all be coming together to make adifference. I enjoy coming and havingcocktails, socializing, and having a greattime just like many of you but what Idon’t want to see is that we forget aboutthe bigger picture of this wonderfulfraternity that we belong to. Ladies, Imay not be Senior Regent this next yearbut I can’t begin to stress and encourageeach of you to come and be a part of thebigger picture.Thank you again to all who servedwith me on the board and to all of myCommittee Chairman as well as to thosewho took time to volunteer in anycapacity this last year. I truly appreciateit from the bottom of my heart. Pleaseremember that a smile or a hug can go along way in someone’s day and that eventhough we are of many personalities andmany opinions, we all need to havegrace, an open mind, and kindnesstowards one another. With all my pleasure and honor,TraciCorbinSenior RegentLodge 1409 new members from Jeb 24 to Mar 24 12District Meeting Apr 20 in Pismo BeachSickness and DistressEd Almond passed away - memorial service will be held on April 13at the Pismo Beach Moose Lodge at noonGail and Dee Marlatt MemorialServices to be held April 6 beginning at noonat the Fresno Moose Lodge

Pismo Clams have historically been found at three of the Channel Islands: Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, and San Miguel (Pattison 2006). The distribution of Pismo Clams at island beaches is more limited than on the mainland, and the density of clams is much lower at island beaches. Unsuccessful attempts have been made to introduce Pismo Clams as far north
