First Year Orientation Programme – 2020SVKM’s NMIMS Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management & Engineering, Shirpur,organized an online orientation programme for the newly admitted MBA Tech & B. Tech. studentsfrom 10th August, 2020 to 14th August 2020. The major objective of the programme was to makeall the parents and students aware about the academic aspects of the courses, the rules andregulations of the institute and ensuring parental participation in monitoring the progress of thestudents. An online orientation programme was organized on MS Teams due to Pandemic.On the First Day (10.08.2020) the programme was inaugurated with the worshipping Goddess ofKnowledge Maa Saraswati. The First Year orientation programme initiated by the virtual presenceof Dr. R. S. Gaud (Director, MPTP Shirpur Campus), Dr Narayan Chandak (Officiating Director,MPSTME Shirpur Campus), Dr. Ambikanandan Misra (Director SPTM Shirpur Campus), Mr.Rajeev Dalal (Deputy Registrar, MPTP Shirpur Campus), and Mr. Rahul Dande (Chief Accountantand Administrator, MPTP Shirpur Campus). Dr. Govind Rajput (In-charge First Year MBA.Tech)and Dr. U. Raghvendran (In-charge First Year B. Tech.) were the coordinator for OnlineOrientation Program.Dr. R. S. Gaud, Director, MPTP Shirpur Campus addressed on variousacademic issues with emphasis on meeting the industry expectations. Hevoiced the vision of NMIMS by emphasizing that the Institute’s agenda istowards quality education and research. He informed students aboutupcoming trends in the industry with special reference to the Technologyand Management. He inspired all the students by making them understandabout the importance of Engineering.Page 1 of 9

Dr Narayan Chandak (Officiating Director, MPSTME Shirpur) also welcomed the students andmotivated them to excel in their respective fields. He illuminated the students about state of the artinfrastructure of the campus. He also motivated the students to have high visionary goals in theirprofessional life.A few videos were also shown to make them aware about various curriculum and co-curriculumactivities happening at department as well as institute level.This was followed by Dr Monimoy Saha, Director, Hostel Administration, who discussed aboutthe Hostel environment at the institute, the facilities and infrastructure available in the hostels,mess and Hostel Discipline.Page 2 of 9

Then the students were addressed by the First Year In-Charge Dr. Govind Rajput, who welcomedthe students and gave them an introduction regarding the academic schedule and disciplines.It was followed by the presentation of Dr. Milan Joshi, Assistant Professor in Mathematics onApplication of Mathematics in Engineering.The Second day of First Year orientation (11.08.2020), started with the address by Dr. R. K.Rombola, H.O.D., Department of Computer Engineering, who gave information on departmentand various activities carried by the department.After that, Dr. N. S. Choubey, H.O.D., Department of Information Technology gave presentationon the department and various activities carried by the department.Page 3 of 9

Librarian of the institute, Mr. Ravindra Mendhe, explained in detail about the vast inventory ofliterature available at the library, both in form of books as well as e-books. He talked about digitallibrary, reading halls, journals and other Library facilities.This was followed by Dr. P. K. Gupta, Assistant Professor in Physics, who gave presentation onApplication of Basic Science in Higher Education ((Physics).Page 4 of 9

After that Dr. Malvika Sharma, Assistant Professor in Chemistry, gave presentation on Applicationof Basic Science in Higher Education (Chemistry).On the Third Day (12.08.2020) in the early morning session, the students were educated about theimportance of their health, hygiene, nutrition and fitness. Mr. Bhalchandra N conducted sessionon Yoga.Page 5 of 9

After that, in the next session, Dr Sanjay Shrivastava, Associate Professor, illuminated thestudents about various Forums active in the institute and their roles.Next, Student Council members also welcomed the first year students. The students were giveninputs on role of student council.The Fourth Day (13.08.2020) of First Year Orientation started with the address by Dr. B. K.Mohanty, Associate Dean Research & H.O.D., Department of Electronics andTelecommunication, who gave information on the Department and various activities carried by thedepartment.Page 6 of 9

At the last Prof. Prakash Bhagat, Assistant Professor in Mathematics, gave presentation onMathematics I and discussed the syllabus.The Fifth Day (14.08.2020) of the Orientation Program, started with the presentation by Dr. PayalDande on Each One Save One, a Social Forum of NMIMS Shirpur Campus.At last but not the least, the First Year Students were given inputs on Physics, Chemistry, Englishand BEE.
