The Squirrel CageAlamo ASHRAEMarch 2019Alamo ASHRAE,Happy Spring Break ( less traffic)! Unhappy Lost Hour of Sleep! Please join us this Thursday evening as we welcome the National ASHRAE President, Sheila Hayter. Mrs. Hayter is a Senior Engineer with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and was recently recognized by ES Magazine as one of 20 to Watch:Women in HVAC. She will present her presidential address, “Building Our New Energy Future – What Building ProfessionalsNeed to Know about Changes Coming to the Electricity Sector”. Please invite your electrical colleagues, clients, and any othersINSIDE THIS ISSUE:President’s MessageOfficer’s DirectoryUpcoming EventsPicturesMeeting AttendanceEvent FlyersBefore studyingengineering, if someoneasked me what 1 1 is, Iwould have said “2.”Now, I’d say “I’m prettysure it’s 2, but we’dbetter make it 3 just tobe safe.”who would appreciate hearing more about our energy future. The event will beheld at UTSA from 5:30 to 6:30. A map of the campus showing where to park andwhere the event will be held is attached. We will have our regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 19th, at the AlamoDrafthouse North Park. Steven Lipe with Oslin Nation will be our presenter. Thetopic for this meeting will be Pumping Considerations. This is another great topicfor young designers and engineers (and old ones, too). In April, our topic will be lifesafety dampers, followed by a presentation on commissioning in May. We’ll wrapup this ASHRAE year with our annual ethics meeting in June.We still have room for a few more teams at our annual golf tournament on March28, at Canyon Springs Golf Club. Sponsorship opportunities are still available, too.Join us bright and early for some breakfast tacos before the shotgun start at 8:00.Please remember that this is one of our two big fundraisers for the year. The money you donate supports our Alamo Chapter, scholarships for local engineering students, and national ASHRAE research. See the attached flyer for more information. The annual CRC for Region VIII is right around the corner. This year’s conferencewill be held in Cancun at the Iberostar All-Inclusive Resort. The conference will beheld April 11 through April 13. The meeting schedule is attached. Hope to see youthere!Regards,Rick McHugh, P.E.1
