One of myfavorite Emmaus Talks isPrevenient Grace. God workingin lives before He isacknowledged but none the lessworking. I often think of it asworking without ourpermission- God doesn’t needour permission to work in ourlives. He has been working inour lives from our “borningcry” and He will continue towork in our lives until our lastbreath.Just this morning in church myheart was again warmed byGod. The granddaughter of oneof our members prayed to Godbefore she came to church thismorning. A prayer that herfriends would be at church. Inmany churches that would be nobig deal – in our church, thechildren are grandchildren ofmembers so they only comeevery once in a while with theirgrandparents, we are never surewhich ones may be with uswhen. Today just happened tobe one of those days when herfriends were there. A littlegirl’s prayer answered- an eventin prevenient grace for theyoung girl an understanding ofbeing a piece of spiritualjourney the prevenient gracestage for our grandchildren. How often we forget that Goduses us in the spiritual journeyof those around us. I admit Iam guilty of the wanting to domore right now to move thespiritual journey of those I lovealong on my timeline ratherthan God’s. Yet I of all peopleknow, God’s timing can takeyears, decades even but eachexperience ties into eachexperience as God weaves ustogether with each other andwith Him. How easy it is tothink “I am not doing enough,”limiting God to our standards. Ihave learned throughexperience over the years Godalways gives us enough- He cando nothing less. It is Hispurposes that are served notyours and not mine.I love when God calls me toshare Him through EmmausWalks and I have learned toaccept the periods of time whenGod has other plans in mindthat have me sit on thesidelines. We never know whenour piece of the puzzle is to beput together with someoneelse’s piece to complete God’splan.I hope each and every one ofyou is open to God’s callingyou to contribute to ourGRACE Emmaus walks andwill also consider how God mayhave you contribute to eitherKairos Inside or Kairos Outsideweekends in our area. Thoughsome times on the weekends wethink we don’t have enoughpeople, enough agape or

whatever, we always haveenough. Sometimes when itseems we don’t have enough itis a lesson for us to call out toothers to listen for God’s call sothey may answer “Here I amLord – send Me”Decolores! A Special Thank YouFrom Burton Love, LD Walk72Some of you may have noticedthat the article covering Walk72 which appeared in the MayNewsletter did not contain anyreference to the Table Leadersand Assistant Table Leaders. Imentioned most of the teamcomponents but not the TL'sand ATL's. I thought theydeserved a separate article. Weall know that the Body of Christhas many components and theyare all important but we alsoknow that the people who havethe most contact and thereforethe most impact on the pilgrimsare the TL's and ATL's.The Walk 72 TL and ATLgroup was indeed unique. DanMathews, Board Representativefor Walk 72 reported that out ofall the Walks he hasparticipated in (a bunch), thisgroup was the most effective atimplementing effective tabledynamics. Without question, working together as teams andbonding as Christian Brothershappened very quickly for thetable groups. As Dan pointedout to the Board, the credit forthis excellent work goes to theTL's and ATL's themselves aswell at to Dr. Mac Walling whohandled table dynamicstraining. I was really proud toserve with Table Leaders:David Bagley, David Barnard(replacement for TommyFerguson), Steve Morton, SamPalomaria, Chuck Reed, andBrett Walker as well asAssistant Table Leaders: JasonBoyce, Ken Braswell, ChuckDemaree, Jerry Fowler, MikeHodgson, and Gil Maroney. It isone thing to hear theinformation but it is quitespecial to also uniformly put itinto action. My sincere thanks goes to aspecial group who made Walk72 “the best Walk ever”. the tornado. Fourth Day SpotlightAnn Conner, Central TexasConference, Walk #92In January 1993, I attendedWalk #92 in the Central TexasConference at Glen Lake Campin Glen Rose and sat at the tableof Mary. From these dates youcan see I have had many fourthdays. During this time God hasopened many areas of service.I did not arrive at the walk fullof eagerness or excitement.Apprehension and dread weremore accurate emotions. Mysponsor was my eighteen yearold daughter. I was doing this“weekend” because she wantedme to and I didn’t want todisappoint her. Actually, I hadput her off many times and hadrun out of excuses. So on a cold January day Iwalked into a room full ofwomen where I knew no one.Three days later I left warmedby God’s love shown to me byan amazing team and had atable of new best friends. I alsohad a fire in me to share God’slove with others. The Saturday night Candlelightwas an awesome display ofGod’s love. Since my daughterwas part of the team and shewas the only person I knew whohad attended a Walk, not asingle person was there just forme. However, to me everysingle one of them was there forme!Isn’t that the way we shouldthink of Candlelight? Sure weare excited to see the radiantfaces of those from ourcommunities or the pilgrim wesponsored but we come toCandlelight not just for them, but for every pilgrim.Since then I have workednumerous Walks, Chrysalisweekends, Epiphany teams andserved on the Central TexasEmmaus Board. I also becamemore active in my local churchand community.I am telling you this NOT toshow how much I have done, but to show how much God hasdone. I would have never doneany of this on my own. TheWalk to Emmaus showed me;“I can do all things throughChrist who gives me strength.”Philippians 4:13I didn’t think I had anythingworth saying in a talk. I didn’tthink I had enough experienceor Bible knowledge to lead atable. I didn’t think I knewenough about how a Walkworked to be on the outsideteam. None of that mattered, because God had things for meto say in a talk, and God gaveme words and actions to lead atable and God put people in mypath to teach me how theoutside team works.Emmaus “stuff” and put it instorage. However, I keptgetting little nudges. Then thedoor opened for me to sponsortwo friends. Then we had areunion group. Then I thought Iwill just put in my applicationto work on a team and see whathappens. Nothing happened. Then I thought well I will justsend it again. Well, I got a callto work a walk as a table leader. That meant giving a talk! Whathad I done! Since then I haveworked two walks in thiscommunity.Be willing to serve on the GraceEmmaus Board when asked.Be a sponsor.I encourage you to step out infaith. Complete an applicationto work a Walk and be willingto serve where you are asked toserve because that is where Godwants you. Put aside your fear, anxiety, pride and self will. Inother words, “Let go and letGod.” I have met so many wonderfulChristians, both lay and clergy, who have inspired me andshowed me the many colors ofGod’s love. For many years Iwas the only person in my smallchurch who had attended anEmmaus walk. However, thatdidn’t matter because there wasan entire Emmaus communityof support. When I moved to Palestine Ithought I was through withEmmaus. I boxed up all my

Fourth Day SpotlightHerb Marlow, GRACE Walk62Journey to EmmausWhen I first followed JohnNorman, my Walk sponsor, intothe large room at CampGilmont, I wondered what I hadlet myself in for. There were somany other things I’d rather bedoing at that moment. After all,I had been a Christian for manyyears, and I was already asspiritual as I could be – wasn’tI?I was not really apprehensive, and I had determined to, withGod’s help, see the weekendthrough, but I was not all thatexcited about it, and I had noidea what would happen. Andthen, as the Thursday eveningevents began to unfold, endingin a great chapel service, God’speace settled down in my mindand spirit, and I was suddenlyhappy to be where I was. Thewords: “Don’t anticipate!”began to make sense, and Idecided I would just live in themoment.Friday was a good day, a fullday, and I began to get a senseof the message of theinterlocking talks. It was veryrestful to know that I had noother responsibility than tolisten and interact with the menat my table. Everything wasdone for us: what a way to live! And then came Saturday andthe “Dying Moments”communion. Somethinghappened to me at that servicein the outdoor chapel.Something that I’m sure hashappened to many, if not all,who have taken part in that veryspecial event. I suddenly sawmyself as God sees me, strippedof all titles, accomplishments, pretensions and facades, havingno defense to His righteousness, not wanting any. The HolySpirit was so heavy around meand in me that I could only cryout to the Lord, and cry out Idid. The rest of that day and the nextday I was a changed person, notfor my benefit but for God’s.The sun was brighter, the windmore soothing, my brothersmore acceptable, and I began toshed the superior attitude that Ihad arrived with. The HolySpirit was ever present, and Ibasked in His light. When Sunday evening came, like many pilgrims, I didn’twant the Walk to end. Here’sthe good news – it has notended! Every day since thatspecial time in October 2012, isa Fourth Day. I have beenprivileged to be a part of theteam at two subsequent Walks, and that has reinforced theongoing Fourth Day spirit.Thank you, John Norman, forsponsoring me. Thank youWalk #62 team for your hardwork and faithful examples, andG.R.A.C.E. Community foreverything. Thank you MikeJohnston for continuing toencourage me with the words:“It’s going to get even better!”every time I saw you thatweekend.Thank God I answered His calland went on the Walk toEmmaus.
