Section 1: IntroductionAXIS 5400 User’s ManualThe AXIS 5400 print server provides high performance andreliability combined with low power consumption. The electroniccircuits are based on the AXIS ETRAX100 chip, which comprises anintegrated 32 bit RISC processor and associated network controllers.FlexibilityThe AXIS 5400 supports printing in all major computer systems andenvironments, including five different print methods in the TCP/IPenvironment. The integrated IPP (Internet Printing Protocol)function allows for printing over the Internet.SpeedThe AXIS ETRAX 100 chip has been specifically designed for LANproducts and benefits users with a faster throughput than a direct PCto-printer connection. With a sustained data throughput of more than1 Mbyte per second, the AXIS 5400 is fast. High speed Centronicscommunication such as ECP, Hewlett-Packard Fast Mode, HighSpeed and IBM Fast Byte is supported.UNIXMacintoshReliabilityWindowsFeatures and BenefitsOS/2NetWare12Easy to InstallSecurityMonitoringUsing the available Axis installation tools, you can install the AXIS5400 into any of the supported networking environments in just afew minutes. You can assign passwords to restrict both login and printer access. The AXIS 5400 internal Web pages allow you to continuouslymonitor printer status.AXIS Print System and AXIS NetPilot also allow you to monitorprinter status. AXIS Print System and AXIS Print Monitor can beconfigured to display pop-up messages that show the status of peer-topeer print jobs. The AXIS 5400 supports SNMP for remote monitoring.
