What is Class Charts for parents?Depending on how your school has set up our system, you will be able to use ClassCharts to keep track of your child’s behaviour, view attendance records, access theirweekly timetable, view assigned homework tasks, track scheduled detentions, createwellbeing submissions and view announcements from their school.If you have more than one child, you can access Class Charts information about yourchildren from a single, centralised parent account.Class Charts for parents can be accessed via our website, or through our iOS andAndroid apps.You should have received aParent code from yourschool, which will look similarto the example code shownon the right.This code is used to set upyour Class Charts parentaccount, which is covered onthe next page.2

Signing up to Class Charts1. Select Sign up from the mainpage and fill in the formprovided. Enter your parentcode into the Access code field.Please note: Your Access Codeis not the same as yourpassword. The access code isonly needed for the initial signup.2. Click on the Sign upbutton below the form.3. Confirm the pupil’s date ofbirth when prompted. Click onthe Date of Birth field and usethe date picker to enter thecorrect date.4. A confirmationmessage will appear,indicating that the sign upprocess is complete.Verify your email addressto continue.3

BehaviourIf your school has decided to sharebehaviour information with parents,you will see the Behaviour tab whenviewing pupils from that school.Selecting this tab will display multiplegraphs which represent an overviewof your child’s achievement andbehaviour data within a customisabletimeframe.By default, the displayed date rangeis 31 days To view a different rangeof behaviour data, click on the Datebutton to select from the availablepresets or create your own customdate range.Below these graphs you can find alist of behaviour activity relating toyour child. These display thebehaviour that was awarded, when itwas awarded, who awarded thebehaviour, the lesson the behaviourwas awarded in, and how manypoints the award is worth.The level of detail within eachbehaviour award depends on thesettings that your school hasenabled.4

Awarding behaviourIf your school has decided toallow parents to awardbehaviour, you will see theAward behaviour tab whenviewing pupils from that school.Selecting this tab will display alist of behaviour types that yourschool has shared with you.To award a behaviour to yourchild, click on the behaviour typeof your choice. Once you haveconfirmed your choice, a greenbanner will appear to inform youthat the behaviour has beensuccessfully awarded.If a behaviour type appearsgreyed out, it means you havereached the daily limit forawarding that behaviour. Thedaily limit for each behaviourtype is decided by your school.5

HomeworkIf your school has decided to sharehomework tasks with parents, youwill see the Homework tab whenviewing pupils from that school.Selecting this tab will display a list ofhomework tasks which your childhas been assigned to.To change the date range fordisplayed homework tasks, click onthe Date button to select from theavailable presets or create your owncustom date range.To display tasks in the order theywere set, click on the Issue DatebuttonTo display tasks in the order theyare expected to be handed in, clickon the Due date button.To view a homework taskin more detail, click on theexpand icon in the bottomright hand corner of thehomework tile.A popup will appear thatcontains the a descriptionof the homework task, theestimated completiontime and any links orattachments that mayhave been included.6

Homework status categoriesTo-Do: These are homeworktasks that have not beenticked as completed by yourchild and have not beenmarked by their teacher.Completed: These arehomework tasks that have beenticked as completed by yourchild but have not been markedby their teacher.Late: These are homeworktasks that have beenhanded in past the deadline.Not submitted: These arehomework tasks that were nothanded in on time.Submitted: These arehomework tasks that havebeen handed in on time.7

Keeping track of homeworkAs your child is assigned homeworktasks, you may want track of how theyare progressing for the current week.The three banners above thehomework status categories count thenumber of homework tasks that aredue this week, how many of thosetasks your child has completed andhow many tasks they still need tocomplete.To only see homework tasks thatrequire an attachment submission,tick the checkbox labelled Requiressubmission.If you are viewing the Homework tab via a desktop or laptop, expanding a homeworkstatus category will display a table overview of each homework task for the selected daterange.8

Homework attachmentsubmissionsFor certain homeworktasks, your child may beasked to upload their workas an attachment. If yourschool has allowed it, youwill be able to uploadhomework attachments onyour child’s behalf.When viewing a homeworktask in more detail, you willsee the Upload attachmentbutton if your child’steacher is expecting theirwork to be uploaded.To submit a homeworkattachment, click on theUpload attachment buttonand select the files of yourchoice. Successfullyuploaded files will thenappear above the button.If your child’s teacher leavesfeedback on one of theirhomework attachments, youwill see a Feedback iconappear on the associatedhomework task.9

Homework attachment feedbackIf your school has decided toshare homework feedbackwith parents, you will be ableto see your view child’shomework attachments andthe teacher feedback thatfollowed.When viewing a homeworktask in more detail, you willsee the My attachmentssection if homeworksubmissions were set by theteacher. This contains yourchild’s uploaded homeworkattachments along with anyteacher comments.To view the homeworkattachment in more detail,click on the filename togenerate a copy of theattachment.If your school has decidednot to share homeworkfeedback with parents, youwill see the Feedbackindicator on homeworktasks with teacher feedback,but will you will not be ableto view your child’shomework attachments orassociated feedback.10

DetentionsIf your school has decided to sharedetention information with parents, youwill see the Detentions tab when viewingpupils from that school.Selecting this tab will display a list ofdetentions which have been set for yourchildDetentions fall under 4 categories:Attended, Not attended, Pending andUpscaled.Attended: Your child has sat thisdetention.Not attended: Your child did not sit thisdetention.Pending: This detention has not been satyet.Upscaled: Your child’s detention has beenescalated into another type of detention.To view more information about aspecific detention, click on the arrowicon.This will bring up a popup thatdescribes the detention, includingthe location for the detention, theawarding teacher and schedulinginformation.11

AttendanceIf your school has decided to share attendance records with parents, you will see theAttendance tab when viewing pupils from that school.Selecting this tab willpresent you with a table ofyour child’s attendancedata for the past 31 days.To change the displayedtimeframe of attendancerecords, click on the Datebutton and select the daterange of your choice.Attendance records fallunder four categories:Present, Late, Authorisedabsence and Unauthorisedabsence.Present: Your childattended the lesson.Late: Your child was late tothe lesson.Authorised absence: Yourchild did not attend thelesson, but had a validreason for doing so.Unauthorised absence:Your child did not attendthe lesson and did not havea valid reason to do so.12

AbsencesIf your school has decided to allowparents to report absences, you will seethe Absences tab when viewing pupilsfrom that school.Selecting this tab will display a list ofabsences that you have reported, onceyou have reported them. This includeswhen the absence took place, the reasonfor the absence and who acknowledgedyour absence report.To report an absence, click on the Reportnew absence button.Next, enter the details of the reportedabsence into the form provided.You can also include up to 5 files in yourabsence report as supporting evidence.To do this, click on the Attach supportingevidence button and select the files ofyour choice.Click on the Submit button to send yourpupil’s absence report to their school. Theabsence can be edited and deleted until ithas been acknowledged by a teacher.13

TimetableIf your school has decided to share timetable data with parents, you will see theTimetable tab when viewing pupils from that school.Selecting this tab willpresent you with yourchild’s timetable for thecurrent day. Thisincludes the time ofeach lesson, the lessonname, the teacher’sname and the roomwhere the lesson willtake place.Your child’s currentlesson will behighlighted in blue, asshown on the right.To view timetable datafor another day of theweek, click on one ofthe other displayeddates along the top ofthe timetable.To change the displayedweek, click on the Datebutton and select a datefrom the week of yourchoice.14

ClassesIf your school has decided to share class data with parents, you will see the Classes tabwhen viewing pupils from that school.Selecting this tab willpresent you with a listof your pupil’s classes.Each class tile willdisplay the class name,the class teacher, thesubject and the roomthe class takes place in(if applicable).To view the full list ofteachers for a specificclass, click on the Showall teachers button forthe class of your choice.15

WellbeingIf your school has decided to share wellbeing data with parents, you will see theWellbeing tab when viewing pupils from that school.Clicking on this tab willpresent you with five faceicons, which represent a rangeof emotions. These icons canbe used to record wellbeingsubmissions for how yourchild is currently feeling.To record a wellbeingsubmission, select the faceicon that most accuratelydescribes your child’semotions.You are able to add adescription for the wellbeingsubmission, along with atracker if your schoolhas made them available toparents.Click on the Save button onceyou are finished.Once a wellbeing submissionhas been recorded, you canmake changes to it using thepencil icon.To delete a wellbeingsubmission, click on the binicon for the submission ofyour choice.16

AnnouncementsIf your school has decided to shareannouncements with parents, you willsee the Announcements tab whenviewing pupils from that school.Selecting this tab will display a list ofannouncements that have been sharedwith you regarding the selected pupil.Announcements with a pin icon willalways stay at the top of theannouncements list.If you are viewing announcements fromthe main parent dashboard, click on the Xicon in the top right hand corner of anannouncement to dismiss it.Dismissed announcements can be viewedagain in the pupil’s individualAnnouncements tab.Depending on your school’s setup, youmay receive announcements that requireyour consent.To confirm or deny your consent for anannouncement, click on the Give consentand Do not consent buttons respectively.You can also leave a comment regardingyour consent. Enter the comment of yourchoice and click on the Save commentbutton.17

Announcement comments andreactionsDepending on how your school has sentup certain announcements, you may alsohave the option to leave a comment or apositive reaction.To leave a comment on anannouncement that supports it, enter acomment of your choice into the text boxprovided and click on the Add commentbutton.To leave a positive reaction on anannouncement that supports it, click onthe emoji of your choice. Your selectionwill be highlighted in blue.Please Note: Depending on how your schoolhas set up the announcement, yourresponses will either be public or private.Public comments will be seen by all associatedparents and staff members.Private comments will only be seen byyourself and any associated staff members.18

On-Report CardsIf your school has decided to share OnReport cards with parents, you will seethe On-Report Cards tab when viewingpupils from that school.Selecting this tab will display a list of OnReport cards that have been shared withyou regarding the selected pupil.Each card displays the timeframe that theOn-Report card is active for, the reasonwhy the pupil has been placed on reportand a description.To find out more about an On-Reportcard, click on the expand icon.To leave a comment on an expanded OnReport card, click on the Add newcomment button and enter the messageof your choice.This message will be seen by the teachersthat are involved with your child’s OnReport card.19

MessagingIf your school has decided to allowtwo-way communication withparents, you will see the Messagingtab when viewing pupils from thatschool.Selecting this tab will display a list ofteachers that you are able to sendand receive messages from. To senda message to a specific teacher,select their name from the list.You will be presented with amessaging thread between you andthe selected teacher. To send amessage, type into the text fieldprovided and click on the greensend icon.If the thread has been locked by ateacher, you will be unable to sendand receive additional messages.If you have received a new unreadmessage, you will see a red dot onthe Messaging tab and the teacher’sname.20

BadgesIf your school has decided to share badges with parents, you will see the Badges tabwhen viewing pupils from that school.Badges are a way foryour school to informyou when significantbehaviour goals havebeen achieved.Your child will be issuedwith a badge when theymeet the badge’scriteria. The criteria foreach badge will be setup by the school.Any badges that yourchild has earned will bedisplayed here, listingeach type of badge andhow many times theyhave been awarded.21

Pupil FieldsIf your school has decided to share pupil fields with parents, you will see the Pupil fieldstab when viewing pupils from that school.Pupil fields are aspectsof data that are relatedto your child. These canappear in the form ofcurrent grades, targetgrades or any other textbased information.To find out more aboutthe fields you can see inyour account, pleasecontact your school.22

COVID TestsIf your school has decided to allowparents to view and / or record COVIDtest results, you will see the COVID Teststab when viewing pupils from thatschool.Selecting this tab will display a list ofyour child’s COVID test results.Depending on your school’s set up, youwill be presented with test results thatwere recorded by yourself, your school,or both.If your school has granted you withpermission, you can submit your owntest results via the the Report newCOVID test button.A form will appear, allowing you to enterwhen the test was taken, the testbarcode, whether or not your child wasshowing symptoms, the result of thetest, and any additional notes.Once you’ve finished, click on the Submitbutton to submit the COVID test result.23

Logging in to Class ChartsOnce you have signed up to Class Charts, you can log back into your parent account atany time.1. Select Log In from the mainpage and enter your emailaddress and password intothe fields provided.2. Click on the Log in button tobegin accessing your ClassCharts parent account.If you would like stay logged inwhen you close the Class Chartsapp, tick the checkbox labelledRemember me.If you have forgotten yourpassword, click on the Forgotyour password link. You will beprompted to confirm your emailaddress so that a passwordreset email can be sent.24

Adding additional pupilsOnce you have set up your Class Charts parent account, you can add additional childrento the same account. To add another child to your account, please follow the stepsbelow:1. Click on Add Pupilbutton in the left handside navigation menu.2. Enter the ParentAccess Code that wasprovided to you byyour school.3. Enter your child’sdate of birth whenprompted.4. A confirmationmessage will appearand the child will beadded to the lefthand side navigationmenu.25

Adding additional pupils (app)You are also able to add additional children through the Class Charts Parent app. Toadd another child to your account via the app, please follow the steps below:1. Click on the Pupil iconin the bottom right handcorner of the app andselect Add pupil.2. Enter the ParentAccess Code that wasprovided to you byyour school.3. Enter your child’sdate of birth whenprompted.4. A confirmationmessage will appearand the child will beadded to the pupilicon popup.26

Switching between pupilsIf multiple children have been set up on your Class Charts parent account, you are ableto switch between them and view child specific data at any time.To switch between pupils on thedesktop view, click on their name inthe left hand side menu.Their individual pupil dashboard willopen on the first entry in the list. Youcan then switch between tabcategories by clicking on the availableicons in the list.You can check to see which pupil iscurrently selected by looking for theorange tab highlighting their name inthe left hand side menu.To switch between children on themobile app, click on the Pupil icon inthe bottom right hand corner of theapp and select the child of yourchoice.Their individual pupil dashboard willopen, allowing you to swipe betweentheir available tabs.27

Account settingsIf you’re using the desktop view, youcan access the account settings menuthrough the Settings button in the topright hand corner of the page.If you’re using the mobile app, theseoptions can be accessed through thethree lines menu in the top right handcorner.The Change password page allowsyou to enter a new password for yourClass Charts parent account.The new password must be aminimum of 8 characters long, butwe also recommend including anuppercase letter, a lowercase letter, anumber and a symbol.The Account details page allows you tochange the displayed name on yourClass Charts parent account and theemail address used to log in andreceive notifications.If you no longer wish to use your ClassCharts parent account, click on theDelete Account option to permanentlydelete it. Should you change yourmind, you will need to sign up againusing the parent code provided to youby your school.28

FAQs & Troubleshooting“I don’t have a parent code!”Please contact your school and ask for a new parent code.“I can’t log in! “Please check your inbox. Have you ever had emails from Class Charts? If not, youremail address could be misspelt.“It says I don’t have an account!”Please make sure that you have successfully tried signing up with your parental accesscode before attempting to log in.“My password is incorrect!”Please use the “Forgot your password” link to reset your password.“I’m not seeing !”This quick start guide provides information on all of our modules. If you are not seeinga module mentioned in this guide, your school may not have decided to purchase /enable that module.“I would like to know more about your privacy policy“We store your data securely in the UK.Your email address is used for account login and shared with the school so that theycan send notifications and assist with account login problems.We will not share your data with any other parties and never use it for marketingpurposes.For more detailed information please click ons/29
