Hazardous Materials The Hazmat Team consists of 18 certified members based at Station 48. Prior to 2013 was a permanently staffed vehicle and is now a jump truck usingstaffing off Tower 48 . Responds to gas leaks, fuel spills, white powder calls, meth labs, transportationincidents, unknown substances.19

Emergency Medical Services Brevard County FireRescue provides ALStransport servicescounty‐wide with 30Rescues (Ambulances). Rescues are staffedwith at least 1 EMT and1 Paramedic 2015 Florida EMSProvider of the Year22

Emergency Medical ServicesCommunity Health Resource Coordinator Newly createdcommunity outreachposition in EMS. Paramedic. Identifies “super‐users” toreduce inappropriatenon‐emergent 911 calls,keeping resourcesavailable for critical oremergent calls. Grant Funded throughSCHF.23

Fire Prevention Twelve fire inspectorsassigned to the FP Bureau. Incorporated areas as wellas Palm Shores, MelbourneVillage, Grant‐Valkaria. Annual Inspections, NewConstruction, and FireInvestigations. Approximately 8000inspections per year. Public Education. FP Month.25Fire Inspector looking for clues at the scene of a residential fire.

Public Information The Fire Chief is BCFR’sPIO, supplemented byDon Walker as needed. Responds to all majorincidents as needed. Handles media requests. Responsible for thedepartment’s socialmedia accounts alongwith Caitlin Butler.30
