An AKC registration number or AKC litter number is required for entries.Dogs are required to be vaccinated (including rabies) in accordance with their veterinarian's protocol in order to avoid inadvertenttransmission of illness by/to puppies not yet fully immunized.Dogs that are owned or co-owned by a professional handler may compete in this class, but must be handled by a non-professional handler.Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers' organization, distributedrate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay within the last five years. Dogs may not beexhibited by current assistants or household members of a professional handler. All dogs that are owner-handled and are not owned or exhibited by professional handlers* meet therequirements for this competition. Exhibitors must declare their dog is Owner-Handled eligible at the time of entry using the checkbox on the entry form. Eligible dogs will be identified by an asterisk in the judge's book, steward’s book & the catalog. Dogs must behandled throughout the breed level competition for the regular show by an eligible owner. Professional handlers, householdmembers and current assistants** to professional handlers may not exhibit the dog in any competition during the entireshow. Owner-Handled Best of Breed will be selected from the dogs that are eligible to compete in the Best of Breed competitionincluding Winners Dog, Winners Bitch and winners of the non-regular classes. If the Best of Breed/Variety winner is Owner-Handled competition eligible, it will automatically be Owner-Handled Best ofBreed/Variety and be eligible to compete in both the regular as well as the Owner-Handled group. If the Best of Breed/Variety winner is not eligible for Owner-Handled competition and the Best of Opposite Sex to Best ofBreed/Variety is eligible, the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety will compete against the eligible exhibits of theother sex to determine Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety. If neither the Best of Breed nor the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety are Owner-Handled competition eligible andSelect Dog & Select Bitch are both eligible, the judge is to choose Best Owner-Handled exhibit from the Selects and eligibleWinners Dog or Winners Bitch. If one of the Selects is eligible, excuse all Champions and non-regular class winners of the same sex and then choose BestOwner-Handled exhibit from the remaining dogs of the opposite sex including the eligible Winners. If Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed, Select Dog & Select Bitch are not eligible, the judge may choose anyeligible dog remaining in the ring including Winners Dog or Winners Bitch as Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety. If the Best of Winners is eligible, the other Winner is ineligible since it was defeated. Failure to do so willresult in ejection from the show grounds and/or an Event Committee Hearing. Participants and visitors must abide by posted signs onthe grounds. Certain areas will be marked by "Please Do Not Allow Animals on Grass" and must be respected.Show buildings are designated as NO SMOKING areas. The West Springfield Fire Department will enforce the regulation. Pleasecooperate. Enforcement of Handicapped Parking Laws will also be strictly enforced. Do not park in designated handicapped areaswithout appropriate tags.Eastern States Exposition retains all food concessions, beverage and catering rights on the show grounds. Catering of beverageand/or food service for groups is not permitted unless such beverage and food is arranged for and provided by Eastern States CateringServices. This does not preclude individuals from providing their own beverages and food.5

Attention ExhibitorsSpace for unentered dogs will not be provided.Show site will be available for exhibitors on Thursday after 12:00 Noon.Exhibitors' vehicles will NOT be permitted into the building for unloading.Dogs will be allowed to remain on the show grounds overnight Thursday, Friday & Saturday. Doors will be locked at 10:00 P.M. andopen at 6:00 A.M.A Guard will be on duty Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights (10:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M.). The Clubs, their officers & members, and TheBig E will not be responsible for loss or injury of dogs or property.Please Keep Our Grounds Clean. All trash MUST be placed inside CLEAN plastic bags & placed in available trash containers.Please do your part in keeping this site available to us.Dogs MUST NOT be left unattended in vehicles on the grounds overnight.There will be no roping off or saving of grooming areas.Grooming and Crating aisles must remain open at all times.All crates must be stacked. Unstackable crates are not allowed & will not be permitted in the crating area.Crates or tables of any type will not be allowed next to the rings, Except where space is provided by the clubs.The grooming area is under the control of the Event Committee. We expect all exhibitors to comply with their requests.There will be no washing of dogs in the show building. This will be absolutely enforced. Dogs are not permitted in the buildingrestrooms at any time.Exhibitors and handlers will be responsible for keeping their area clean.Firelanes must be maintained.No private x-pens allowed in the building.Dogs must be exercised in designated areas only.A Dog Show is a sporting event and exhibitors should attire themselves accordingly. Clothing and footwear should be selected whichwill not interfere with the required physical activity of dog handling, yet is within the standards of proper attire.The Clubs are not responsible for the actions or products of the commercial vendors at these shows.Declination of Entries - The Clubs may decline any entry for cause & may refuse to receive or may remove on account of disease,viciousness or other causes, & no one shall have any claim or recourse against The clubs or any official thereof.Important NoticeAccess to the show grounds will be through Gate 9 or Gate 2. Gate 9 is on the left approaching the show grounds from the East(Springfield downtown). If Gate 9 is closed then use Gate 2.Day ParkingDay Parking is 5.00 per day for cars and 30.00 per day for campers and is collected upon entrance to the grounds. The clubs haveno involvement in collecting fees and receive no portion of those fees.Motor Home ParkingThere will be space for overnight parking of motor homes and campers. The fee is 30.00 per unit per day and will be collected byEastern States personnel. The clubs have no involvement in collecting fees and receive no portion of those fees. Reservations areavailable upon entrance to the grounds. Multiple reservations and saving of space are not permitted.Electrical hookups with limited service MAY be available. There are no guarantees. No air conditioners or other high amperageappliances may be used due to the type of service provided. If you need to use high amperage appliances (driers, microwave ovens,air conditioners, etc.), please use your generator. Overloading the circuits will result in tripped breakers. Restoring service may notbe immediate, especially at night.Motor Homes and campers may move onto grounds no earlier than two (2) days prior to the start of the shows. They will be directedto the available lots for the shows. Certain areas of the grounds may be restricted. Storage and/or stock trucks may occupy the samespace provided the same power source is utilized. Vehicles may not occupy a camper space in the designated camper lots.there will be absolutely no dumping of grEy or black water from any rv onto the ground. Anyonefound discharging grey or black water onto the ground will be reported to the Health Department & immediately removed from thepremises. These individuals will also be brought up on charges before the Event Committee Hearing.A Dumping Station is available on the grounds at no charge. Please see a show official for its location. Please leave your parkingareas clean by bagging all refuse and throwaway items.IN ORDER TO PREVENT ADDITIONAL INCREASES in parking fees and SEVERE RESTRICTIONS on motor home parking, PLEASERESPECT Eastern States personnel, grounds and equipment.6

Dogs not required for further judging will be excused.Judges Will Not Wait for Any Dog Holding Up a Class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs inthe judging ring when their classes are called to be judged.All Dogs Present must be held on leash or confined to their crates except when being judged or when in the exercising ring.No gasoline or diesel generators are permitted inside any building or within 100 feet of any tent in which this dog show is conducted.As specified in Chapter 12, Section 4 of the AKC Rules Applying to Dog Shows, information contained on the entry form is requiredto be published in the club’s show catalog. This information is also subject to publication in other media.Entry Fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred fromcompetition by action of the event's Show Committee. If because of riots, wars, strikes, civil disturbances, national emergencies, healthemergencies, and the dictates of law enforcement or of the owner(s) of the grounds and/or facilities or other acts beyond the controlof the management it is impossible to open or to complete the show, no refund of entry fee will be made. Extreme weather conditions,such as, but not limited to, snow storms, hurricanes, lightning, extreme heat, heavy rains, or other circumstances including, but notlimited to, the condition of the facilities or grounds and/or the ingress and egress from the grounds, must be considered for the healthand safety of the dogs, exhibitors and spectators.
