PropaneForced Air HeatersNEVER LEAVE HEATER UNATTENDEDWHILE BURNING, CONNECTED TO APOWER SOURCE, OR WHILECONNECTED TO A FUEL SOURCETheory of Operationpersists after several tries, contact Pinnacle CustomerService at 800-641-6996.Fuel System: The heater is attached to the PropaneCylinder, which is under pressure. The pressure betweenthe cylinder and the heater is controlled by the regulator. The pressure in the cylinder pushes fuel to the nozzle inthe Combustion Chamber. The fuel is sprayed into thecombustion chamber in a fine mist. The installation of this heater must meet all local codesand/or gas utility requirements. In the absence of localcodes, the National Fuel Code ANSI Z223.1 should be followed.Quick-Fire Ignition: A Spark Module sends high voltageto a spark plug (PT-50V/100V/150V only). Model PT-40GFA uses a manual Piezo ignitor to send the spark whenyou turn the control knob to “High/Ign”. The spark ignitesthe fuel as it is sprayed into the combustion chamber.Air System: A fan is turned by the heavy duty motor, which forces air around and into the combustion chamber, where it is super-heated and forced out the front of thechamber.Electrical System Protection: The heaters’ electrical system is protected by a circuit breaker that protects the system components from damage. If the heater fails, checkthe fuse first, and replace if necessary.Flame Sensor: The heater uses a thermocouple to sensethe flame in the combustion chamber. Should the flameextinguish, the thermocouple will stop electrical currentand the heater will shut off.Unpacking and Assembly- Remove heater from Carton- Remove all protective packaging protecting heater during shipping- Save carton and packing materials for later storageThe minimum clearances to any combustible constructionmaterials must be maintained at all times.VentilationCaution: Always provide a fresh air opening in theheated space of at least three square feet (2,800 sq. cm)for each 100,000 BTU/Hr. of heater output. Provide a larger opening if more heaters are being used. As an example,an PT-150V-GFA heater will require:- a two-car garage door open 6 inches, or- a single car garage open 9 inches, or- two thirty two inch wide windows open fifteen inches.Connecting to Gas SupplyIMPORTANT! Always use a propane cylinder that has aconnection device that is compatible with the hose andregulator assembly supplied.- To connect hose and regulator assembly, rotate fitting onhose/regulator counterclockwise into threads on tank valve(see Figure 2). Be sure to tighten firmly. Important: Be sureto position the regulator so that the regulator is horizontal, also as shown in Figure 2.-To connect to heater inlet, rotate clockwise and tightenfirmly with a wrench (see Figure 3, Page 7).- Inspect heater closely for any damage that may haveoccurred during shipping. If there is any damage, returnthe heater to the place of purchase.Caution: The Propane (LP) gas pressure regula-Supply Valvetor and hose assembly supplied with the heater mustbe used without alteration.RegulatorCaution: Be sure to inspect the regulator hosebefore each use. If the hose is cut or frayed, replace itwith the manufacturer suggested assembly.HoseChecking for LeaksTo check for leaks, make up a 50/50 solution of dishsoapand water. Apply this solution to all gas connections. Ifbubbles appear, there is a leak. If a leak is found, turn offthe gas supply, re-make the leaking connection. If the leakPage 6PropaneTankFigure 2. ANSI A300 defines as a tree risk assess-ment: “A systematic process used to identify, analyze, and evaluate risk.” “Mitigation” is a term that I see com-monly used inappropriately. In the Standard, it is very clearly defined as the process of diminishing risk. We do not eliminate risk in trees when we perform some form of mitigation practice. We are minimizing the risk to some .
