Getting Started With VMware Cloud onAWSThis guide provides information about creating cloud software-defined data centers (SDDCs)using VMware Cloud on AWS, configuring basic networking and other parameters for yourSDDC, and connecting an SDDC to your on-premises data center.After you have deployed and configured your SDDC, see the VMware Cloud on AWS Networkingand Security Guide guide and the Operations Guide for information about advanced features thatenable you to create a secure hybrid cloud with extended networking, single sign-on, andintegration with other VMware and Amazon tools.Intended AudienceThis information is intended for anyone who wants to use VMware Cloud on AWS to create anSDDC that has the basic features required to run workloads in the cloud and can serve as astarting point for your exploration of additional features and capabilities. The information iswritten for readers who have used vSphere in an on-premises environment and are familiar withvirtualization concepts. Purchase Options for VMwareCloud on AWS1You have multiple options for purchasing VMware Cloud on AWS.Purchasing from different sources results in a different seller of record being associated with theresources you purchase. The seller of record is responsible for billing the resources purchasedfrom them.Currently, a given Organization can only contain resources purchased from a single seller ofrecord. For example, if you currently have an Organization containing SDDCs purchased throughVMware, and you want to purchase additional SDDCs through AWS, you must create a differentOrganization and associate it with a different AWS customer account.Purchase Through VMwareWhen you purchase VMware Cloud on AWS through VMware:nVMware is the seller of record.nBilling is done by VMware.VMware terms of service, payment methods, currencies, regions, discounts, and pricingapply.nYou deploy and manage your VMware Cloud on AWS infrastructure through the VMCConsole.For more information on purchasing VMware Cloud on AWS through VMware, go to https://cloud.vmware.com/vmc-aws.Purchase Through AWSWhen you purchase VMware Cloud on AWS through AWS:nAWS is the seller of record.nBilling is done by AWS. If you purchasedVMware Cloud on AWS through AWS, see Chapter 3 Onboarding Checklist for Purchasingthrough AWS.Procedure1Use the LaunchpadThe VMware Cloud Launchpad is a consolidated starting point designed to help you learnabout the latest VMware Hybrid Cloud solutions and infrastructure providers.2Read Your Service Welcome EmailDuring the deal process, your Cloud Sales Specialist or Client Executive requested that youidentify a Fund Owner and a Fund User. After your deal is processed, VMware sends aservice welcome email to the Fund Owner and Fund User.3Update Your My VMware AccountPrior to logging in to the VMware Cloud Console, ensure that your My VMware account isup-to-date and all required fields are filled in. If required fields are missing, you will not beable to create your first SDDC.4View Your Subscription Purchase Program FundMany customers choose to purchase Subscription Purchase Program (SPP) credits, whichcan be redeemed against VMware Cloud on AWS in either an On-demand or Subscriptionconsumption model. VMware Cloud on AWS Getting StartedThe Journey page helps you envision your end-to-end journey with VMware for the offering.The Journey typically consists of three or more stages, structured to help you achieve thesekey objectives:1Learn about the offering and prepare your environment.2Deploy the offering.3Configure the offering to maximize its capabilities and value.For some offerings, the Journey also enables you to track and monitor your progress.ResourcesThe Resources page includes l inks to technical documents, including white papers, solutionbriefs, and reference architectures, along with videos, FAQs and other documents that canhelp you understand the technical details of the offering and its underlying technologies.Read Your Service Welcome EmailDuring the deal process, your Cloud Sales Specialist or Client Executive requested that youidentify a Fund Owner and a Fund User. After your deal is processed, VMware sends a servicewelcome email to the Fund Owner and Fund User.The wecome email is entitled, "Welcome to VMware Cloud on AWS." If you do not recall seeingit, check your spam message or corporate spam filter. This email contains a unique serviceactivation link which directs you to the VMware Cloud Console. It is important to use this serviceactivation link when you log into the VMware Cloud Console for the first time.ProcedureuFind your "Welcome to VMware Cloud on AWS" welcome email which includes your uniqueservice activation link.uIf the email is not in your inbox, check your corporate spam filter.uIf you still cannot find the email, ask your Cloud Sales Specialist or Customer SuccessManager to resend the email or provide you with the service activation link.uComplete the next step before clicking on the service activation link.Update Your My VMware AccountPrior to logging in to the VMware Cloud Console, ensure that your My VMware account is up-todate and all required fields are filled in. If required fields are missing, you will not be able to createyour first SDDC.You must provide a valid address as part of your My VMware profile. In addition, spell out thename of your state in full. VMware Cloud on AWS Getting StartedAdd Organization Owners and Organization UsersVMware Cloud on AWS accounts are based on an Organization, which corresponds to a group orline of business subscribed to VMware Cloud on AWS services.Each Organization has one or more Organization Owners, who have access to all the resourcesand services of the Organization and can invite additional users to the account.
