With part modules, you cansubdivide designs into isolated, selfcontained functional elements withmodular interfaces in an organizedstructure of re-usable design elementswith embeddedintelligence.Feature-based modeling A new featurebrowser provides a visually rich graphicview of features and their relations thathelps you to more quickly and intuitivelyunderstand design intent and the impactsof design changes. When you roll over afeature in the browser, the objecthighlights in the graphics window and inthe part navigator and relations with otherfeatures and objects are displayed.NX 8 adds the capability to select objectsfrom the Part Navigator as input to activemodeling commands. Especially withcomplex parts, you can frequently selectitems more quickly and easily from the PartNavigator than from the graphics window.For creating patterns of features, NX 8delivers enhanced flexibility and control.You can now create patterns with a widerselection of layouts that included linear,polygon, along, reference, circular spiral orgeneral options. You can also fill aspecified boundary with a pattern feature,create symmetric patterns in linear layout,stagger columns or rows and radiatepatterns in circular or polygon layouts.Additional controls enable you to defineorientation, and select individual instancesfor clocking, suppression and variance.Synchronous modeling The fourth releaseof NX featuring synchronous technology,NX 8 includes improved synchronousmodeling capabilities that improvemodeling flexibility and enable evaluationof more design alternatives in less time.You can now change the order ofintersecting blends of opposite convexityin parts with or without a feature history.When deleting faces of a model, you canoptionally heal or not heal neighboringfaces. Face modifications in synchronousmodeling can now result in higher-quality,curvature-continuous extended surfaces,and you can pull or offset portions of faceslimited by curves. The usability of moveface operations is enhanced with controlsfor the direction and location parametersdirectly in the graphics window instead ofin dialog boxes. Interpart selection isenhanced in many commands to simplifymodeling with references and links toother parts.

NXFreeform modeling NX 8 enhancesfreeform design with streamlinedworkflows and enhanced controls for awide range curve and surface operations,including edge matching, sweeping,bridge and extension surfaces, variableoffsets, curve fitting and alignment,blending and spline editing. Face and edgeblending now support conic blends, amore advanced type with a softappearance that helps improve theaesthetic quality and formability of castand sheet metal parts. You can now createdraft analysis objects for faces and facetbodies, with color legends indicating areasabove and below draft and draft limits.Assembly design NX 8 features aconstraint navigator that makes it easier tofind and work on assembly constraints andresolve issues. Available from the resourcebar, the constraint navigator displaysconfigurable columns of information andoptions that enable you to groupconstraint information by components, byconstraints, and by status. Fix and bondconstraints have been added to holdcomponents in place. The AssemblyNavigator has been enhanced with newicons for unsolved assembly constraintsthat clearly indicate the nature andseverity of problems and provide fasteraccess to additional information.Routed systems design Routingapplications in NX 8 help you automatepart selection and placement to reducemodeling time.
